Chapter 31

Chapter 31
Someone’s POV

“It’s about time,” the rogue leader said. Suddenly, his companions barged in and grabbed my nephew. Bullshit! If they hurt him, they’re all dead!

“M-Mishtey… h-help me…” the child cried, reaching out to me. I struggled against the cursed chains binding me.

“Let the kid go! Take me instead!” I screamed. I didn’t know what they planned to do to my nephew, but I knew they wanted to hurt not just him—my sister too.

They wanted to cause chaos in my sister’s pack. But why?

“Shut up! You’re useless to us!” one of them barked, kicking me. Weak werewolves!

I’d been in their captivity long enough to tell how severe a beating was. Sometimes they hit harder, frustrated that their torture didn’t hurt me as much as they wanted.

They’d been injecting wolfsbane into me. I spat at him. “Still worthless! Is that all you got?” I mocked, even managing a cocky smile.

He glared and punched me in the stomach. I coughed up silver-colored blood. “Tsk. You’re only brave because I’m tied up. Once I’m free, I’ll kill you myself.” I spat again—this time at his face.

Filthy rogues. Low-class weres who only knew how to stir trouble. It’s their own fault they turned out this way. Now they’re dragging the innocent down with them.

He was furious, but I didn’t flinch. I knew they were planning something worse for my nephew, and I wouldn’t allow it.

He punched the left side of my face, snapping my head to the right. “Take her too! This one’s arrogant! No respect! I hold her life in my hands!” he ordered his minions.

They unchained my wrists. Big mistake, idiots!

Their leader walked out first, tightly gripping my nephew’s hand. I followed, flanked by two rogues holding me.

For the first time since being captured, my feet touched the ground. Hallelujah! They dragged me along, clearly losing patience with my slow pace.

“Morgan, what should we do with this one?” the werewolf on my left asked. We were heading into the forest—I could smell the grass and woods even with my head down.

I had no strength left. Even my wolf was gone. He was weak, starving, and dehydrated—just like me.

“We’ll kill her. She’ll only be a burden if Alpha Dwight attacks.” So Morgan was the leader’s name. Tsk, doesn’t suit him. And wait… Alpha Dwight? That means my sister’s mate is an Alpha?! Good luck to these fools.

We reached the center of the forest. What were they planning? Why stop here?

“This is the place. Alpha Dwight will be here any minute,” one of them said, sitting in the grass.

They shoved me down beside my still-crying nephew. I pitied him—and my sister. I counted: fifteen rogues. Not bad. They spread out, guarding the area tightly.

I had to use all my strength to escape with him. Fighting wasn’t an option in my condition, so running was the only way.

“Kid, we’ll escape. Stop crying, don’t be afraid,” I whispered. I made sure no one else heard. The boy nodded, understanding me.

I sighed deeply. “Crescence, just this once… help me. We need to get out of here,” I pleaded with my wolf. Maybe he wasn’t completely gone yet.

We needed to escape and find our siblings. We ran away from home for this. Now that I had the chance, I wouldn’t waste it.

“Okay, Crater. But let me take over. I promise we’ll save our nephew.” Thank the Moon Goddess! He responded, even if weak. I signaled the boy to move closer.

I gripped his waist tightly and closed my eyes. I felt my bones shift, my body deform. Fur sprouted across my skin.

I opened my eyes. I stood on all fours, silver fur glistening. I bent my front legs and motioned for the child to climb on. He didn’t hesitate.

“Morgan! The captives!” one rogue yelled. He tried to shift—but I didn’t let him.

I slashed his face with my claws. Blood spurted. He collapsed, lifeless. No human form can defeat an Aeon.

I ran as fast as I could through the dense forest, the child clutching tightly to my fur.

“Mishtey, they’re coming! They’re at our back!” the boy screamed. Was it just me, or were we really slowing down?

If I slow down more, they’ll catch us. They had the advantage—stronger, faster, and more of them.

“Crescence, give it your all!” I begged.

He rolled his eyes. Still had the nerve to sass me?

“You think I’m not trying?! I’m exhausted! That’s why we’re slowing down!” he snapped sarcastically. Tsk. If I could face him, I’d smack him!

“I can hear you, idiot. And how would you smack me? We’re the same body!” he replied, full of sarcasm. Argh! Why did you give me this wolf, Mom?! No mercy for your child?

We just kept running. I kept checking behind us—they were still following.

The wind whipped across my face—Crescence was giving his all. I’d rest only when we were safe.

I dodged trees blocking our path. I glanced back again. Great—no one’s following. Maybe they gave up?

I turned my focus ahead—but didn’t expect what I saw. I skidded to a stop. More rogues appeared in front of us!

“We know this forest well. No matter where you go, we’ll find you,” Morgan smirked. He was still in wolf form.

A brown wolf. Pfft! Ugly. Obviously trash-blooded.

“I didn’t expect you to be an Aeon. It’ll be an honor to kill you,” he added.

I growled. He growled back. In a split second, he tackled me—and the child—sending my nephew flying with a whimper.

Shit! He’s hurt! I can’t risk his life because of my carelessness! They’re surrounding me now. Is this it for me? Will I see you again, Mom? I shut my eyes.

Maybe this really is the end. I let out a howl—one filled with hopelessness. If there’s a miracle, let it be now.

“Kill him!”

Dwight’s POV

“Alpha, we tracked Darren’s scent. He’s not far,” one of my trackers reported. I nodded and signaled for everyone to prepare.

I brought my best warriors. “Remember, no rogue lives tonight!” I commanded with my Alpha tone. They bowed in submission. No one will survive for kidnapping my son. They caused us too much pain—especially Selene.

“Alpha, they’re on the north side of this unclaimed territory,” another tracker added, sniffing a fallen leaf.

Trackers were trained for this. “Alpha, they’re close,” he pointed to a forest with tall trees.

“Warriors, remember my orders. Don’t let Darren get hurt. No one acts alone. Can I count on you?!”

“Yes, Alpha,” they chorused. Even if I had to kill thousands of rogues—“Now, let’s save my son and kill those bastards!”

We shifted. My black wolf—strong and proud—led the way.

We entered the forest cautiously. I could feel Darren’s presence nearby. But before I took another step—we heard it. A howl. A hopeless one. Something’s wrong!

“We need to hurry!” I urged. My wolf picked up speed, chasing a faint scent. I wasn’t sure what it was, but something was pulling him toward it.

He ran faster and faster. Then I saw them in the distance—a group of rogues surrounding… an Aeon?

With my sharp vision, I spotted Darren—unconscious behind the Aeon, who was shielding him.

“Alpha, on your command. Shall we attack?” one warrior asked. My team had caught up with me.

“This will be bloody. Protect Darren with your lives. Help the silver wolf—he’s exhausted. The leader is mine. Clear?”

“Yes, Alpha.”

I signaled the attack—just as the silver wolf collapsed. Darren woke up crying, terrified.

Wait for me, son—I’m coming!

Light (my wolf) launched himself at the rogue leader. They were facing away from us—perfect. He bit the rogue’s neck, drawing a whimper. The rogue fought back—too late.

I leaped, claws ready. We clashed midair. I got grazed on my back, but he dropped—lifeless. Blood flowed from his torn belly, my claws having done the job.

I checked on my warriors—they were killing the rogues efficiently. Good job, pack.

I looked again at Darren—still crying. Thank the Moon Goddess, he’s alive.

I was about to go to him—then froze.

Shit! A rogue was behind him—ready to snap his neck! His red eyes full of madness.

This wolf… he’d gone feral. Suddenly, I felt a powerful force.

The silver wolf.

Furious. Dangerous.

“Don’t you dare hurt my nephew,” he growled. Every were around dropped into submission. He flung the rogue into a massive tree.

The rogue wheezed, dying from the impact. “Mate’s brother,” my wolf whispered. Yes… he is.

The silver wolf collapsed.

I rushed to Darren and hugged him tightly, stroking his back.

“You’re safe now, baby.”

He looked at me, eyes filled with tears. “Thank you for saving me, Daddy. I love you.”
