Chapter 30

Chapter 30

Selene's POV

I happily made my way down to the kitchen of the Pack House. I even hummed a little, despite the recurring nightmares that haunted me every night. Still, I always woke up feeling overwhelmed.

Dwight never forgets to say goodbye whenever he needs to leave for Alpha business. And when I’m sound asleep, he leaves a note and white tulips on his pillow.

He says it’s his way of making up for not being beside me when I wake up. He has to speak with the Alphas of the other Packs about the coming war. They need a solid, genuine plan.

Once I entered the kitchen, I immediately prepared the ingredients for pancakes and started cooking. I also fried bacon, hotdogs, and made garlic fried rice—plenty of it, since I know some Pack members eat here too.

I also prepared my homemade calamansi juice. I set everything on the long dining table—as Luna, this is part of my role.

I know somehow this is also my duty. As Luna, equal to the Alpha, I also have responsibilities. Taking care of our people, including the Weres staying here, gives me a deep sense of fulfillment.

I checked the clock. 9 AM—not bad for a late breakfast. I stepped outside to look for Darren.

He wasn’t in his room next to ours, so as soon as I left our room, I began searching for him. While walking, I ran into some Pack members.

They bowed to me, greeting me good morning. I smiled widely and returned their greetings.
“Good morning to you all. Have you seen Darren?”

“He’s with the other children, Luna. They’re playing near the woods,” replied an elderly woman, pointing toward the forest.

I froze. Did she say the woods? I looked at her in alarm.
“W-who's with t-them?” I managed to ask, stammering despite trying not to.

I was starting to panic—especially with the recent threats we’ve faced.
“I think it’s the Beta and the third-in-command, Luna,” she answered honestly.

I felt a weight lift from my chest. Our pup was safe. He was with his uncles. I thanked the woman and headed toward the forest.

But I hadn’t even reached the woods when I heard loud cries and sobbing. My heart began to pound—like war drums echoing in my chest.

I hurried toward the sound. But when I arrived, I stopped in my tracks.

Josh and Lester were lying in pools of blood. Several wolves were unconscious, scattered on the ground. But the most heartbreaking sight… was the pups.

They were huddled beside the fallen Betas, crying.

I rushed to them and knelt.
“W-what h-happened?” I asked, heart heavy with worry. They’re too young to witness something like this.

“We were playing with Beta Josh and Lester when a group of wolves suddenly attacked us… I think they were around 15 to 20,” answered one of the older pups between sobs.

He hiccupped while explaining everything. I nodded and gently tried to calm them. But my eyes scanned everywhere—for Darren.

Where the hell is Darren?! Where is my son?

“W-where’s Darren?!” I asked hysterically, eyes darting in every direction. I couldn’t see him.
“He was taken by one of the wolves, Luna. Beta Josh couldn’t stop them,” one of the pups said, crying.

Shit! Shit!

Judging by the scent here—this was the work of rogues. There were no traces of Lycans. That means it was a different group who attacked.

I clenched my fists. If I find so much as a scratch on my son, I’ll make sure they all pay!

“They’ll pay for this, Selene. I promise,” Dawn growled in my mind. I agreed. They will pay dearly.

“Dwight, rogues took Darren,” I mindlinked my mate. I knew he was in the middle of an Alpha meeting, but that didn’t matter now. We had to save our pup.

“Shit!” I heard him curse.
“Pack Meeting! Now!” he commanded through the Alpha link, his voice thundering in my mind. I was sure everyone heard it.
“Baby, where are you?” he asked gently.

Tsk. When it comes to me, he becomes such a soft-hearted wolf. That’s why I love him.
“In the forest. Bring the Pack Doctor!”

“Hurry, Dwight. If something happens to our pup… I don’t know what I’ll do to them,” I said hoarsely through our link.

“Shhh… baby, I’m on my way. Don’t do anything reckless,” he said softly.

He knows me too well. I’ll destroy every rogue I see if they don’t return my son. I love Darren—though he didn’t come from my womb, he is mine, in soul and heart.

Unknown POV

“Mommy… Daddy…” I heard a soft, crying voice. I lifted my head.

I saw a little boy curled up near where I was chained. He was sobbing. Even a child?! These people are heartless!

“Mommy, save me… I miss you so much,” he murmured through tears. It reminded me of the times I cried when my mother wasn’t by my side—just like him.

Why was I so stubborn? Why didn’t I listen to her?

I tried to look at his face, but the darkness in the room made it hard to see.

“H-hey, k-kid,” I forced myself to speak despite my weakness. The silver chains didn’t hurt me, but the wolfsbane they injected was spreading fast in my system.

He turned toward me. I could see tears streaming down his cheeks.

“Y-yes… huk… Mishty… huk… are… huk… you… bad… like… them?” he asked in sobbing hiccups. Even through the stuttering, I understood what he said. I smiled faintly.

Despite his young, innocent mind, he wasn’t afraid to ask questions.
“N-no, I-I’m not one of them. See? I’m chained up too.”

Even in the dark, I saw him nod. A smart kid. This pup has potential.

“W-why did they chain you, Mishty?” he asked. Maybe he stopped crying because he realized he wasn’t alone in this room.

“I-I don’t know either. What about you? What happened to you?” I asked. For some reason, I felt comfortable with this kid. My wolf was telling me that something about him felt… familiar.

“W-we weye playing at the foyest with Tito Josh and Lestey, when crashy wolves attacked us… and… and… they kidnapped me… Mom and Dad is woyied…” he said sadly.

He’s right—they’re probably going out of their minds looking for him. My mom must’ve felt the same way when I left.
“H-hey, kid. Come closer,” I said.

He hesitated at first, but then slowly walked toward me.

He stared at me, shocked.
“Y-you look like my mommy,” he said, amused.

I frowned. What did he just say?

I look like his mother? That can’t be… unless… No! Could he be—my nephew?

“Youy eyes… youy haiy… exactly like my mommy.”
Shit! He really might be my nephew! Why now of all times?! I need proof.

Of course! My sister’s name—thanks, Mom. You’re really my savior.

“What’s your mother’s name, kid?” I asked. It was painful to even talk—every part of my body ached from who-knows-how-long I’ve been imprisoned here.

“My mom’s name is Selene Dawn Night! She’s the best mommy in the whole wide world!” he proudly said.

I sighed deeply. That’s why I couldn’t rest—I knew something was off. He’s my nephew.

My shoulders slumped. This situation just got worse.

I have to protect him, no matter what. We need to escape.

But before I could say another word, the door to our prison swung open.

And in came the leader of the rogues who captured us.

“It’s about time…”

Rose’s POV

“Ahhh! Give my pup back!!!”
My sister had been throwing a fit inside the Pack House for a while now. She wasn’t allowed to go with them, and that’s why she was left behind—and she was furious.

Kuya Dwight left with his best warriors and trackers. I was one of those left behind, along with other warriors, just in case someone attacked Silver Moon Pack while the others were gone.

Besides, my sister needs me. Maybe I’m not a mother yet, but I truly sympathize with her.

We all love Darren so much. That energetic little boy always brightens our day, especially when we’re drained from intense training.

I heard soft sobs coming from the couple’s room, and even more crying outside—mostly from the children. I sighed. When the Luna is upset or frustrated, the entire Pack feels it. She’s the heart of the Pack, and that’s why everyone’s affected.

My sister is beyond frustrated. That’s how we Aeons are—when we form a bond with someone important to us, that connection becomes unbreakable.

No matter how far that person is, we can feel them. That’s why my sister is in this state—because she can feel Darren’s fear.

Right now, she feels helpless. She can’t do anything to save her son. I know she’s trying her hardest to stop herself from interfering.

Then I heard loud crashes—things being thrown, things breaking.

Please… be safe, Darren.
Save him, Kuya Dwight. Hurry, before my sister loses complete control.

Don’t worry, sis. If anything happens to Darren… I will personally hunt them down.
I gritted my teeth and smirked coldly.

They will die—slowly, but painfully.

“I swear I’ll kill anyone who lays a hand on my son!” she screamed.
