Chapter 186 – The Deal I Was Willing to Make

Chapter 186 – The Deal I Was Willing to Make
I’ve never liked hiding. It’s for cowards.

For people who run instead of fight. But today I didn’t have a choice.

The hideout apartment was quiet. The kind of quiet that makes you hear your own thoughts louder than they should be.

I sat on the edge of the wooden table, my phone in my hand, staring at nothing.

Edward, he moved faster than I expected.
I let out a low breath. “So… this is how it ends?”

A small smile pulled at my lips. No way.
Not yet, I wasn’t done. Not even close.

They were looking for me. Trying to apprehend me. Like I was some criminal, like I hadn’t been the one holding everything together behind the scenes, like I hadn’t sacrificed enough for them.

I had done some dirty work no one else wanted to do.

Ungrateful, all of them. My grip tightened slightly around my phone.

“If they want a war…” I muttered, “…then I’ll give them one.”

I hesitated for just a second, then I lifted the phone and called Alpha Tristan of the Nightfall pack.

he picked up almost immediately. “Damien.”

His voice was calm and amused. Like he had been expecting my call.

“Alpha Tristan,” I replied.

We both stayed silent for a moment. Then he chuckled softly. “I see you’re a wanted man now.”

I smirked slightly. “Word travels fast.”

“It always does,” he said. “So tell me… how do you plan to deliver the white wolf to me now?”

Straight to the point. Of course.

I exhaled slowly. “I need more time,” I said. “I’ll deliver the white wolf.”

A pause, then he spoke. “You don’t have that time.”

My brows pulled together slightly.

“What do you mean?”

“I want the white wolf before the full moon,” Alpha Tristan said, his tone firm now. “Not after. Not later. Before.”

My jaw tightened. “That’s not something I can promise right now,” I admitted.

Silence. Then he spoke eventually. “Then there is no deal.”

The words were final. I clenched my teeth slightly.

“Wait,” I said quickly. “I have something else to offer.”

“I don’t want anything else,” he replied immediately. “I want the white wolf.”

“Just hear me out,” I said.

Another pause. Longer this time.“Fine. Speak.”
I leaned forward slightly.

Lowered my voice. “I can give you twenty–seven gifted beta wolves.”

Heavy silence. “What?”

“I said twenty-seven gifted betas,” I repeated. “And you can have them today.”

Another pause. “How?” he asked finally.

A small smile formed on my lips. “Leave that to me.”

Then I added. “Is it a deal?” There was no answer.

“I deliver twenty–seven gifted beta wolves to you,” I continued slowly, “and you stand by my side. You help me fight Edward.”

Still nothing.

“And when Edward and Jasper are dead…” I finished, “…you’ll have the white wolf.”

The line went quiet. I could almost hear him thinking. Calculating and weighing his options.

Finally, “How do I know you’ll deliver the white wolf after Edward and Jasper are dead?”

I leaned back slightly.

“Because you know trust is important in business.”

A soft chuckle came from his end.

“Trust?” he repeated. “You’re asking me to trust you?”

“Yes,” I said simply. “I’m giving you my word.”

Another pause.

“All I want,” I continued, “is to become the Alpha of Silverpine Pack.” My voice hardened.

“I’ve served long enough.” Silence.

“I deserve that seat,” I added quietly. “And I’ll do anything to get it.”

A long breath came from the other end.

Then he spoke. “Listen carefully, Damien.”

His voice dropped. Colder now.

“If Edward and Jasper are dead… and you fail to deliver the white wolf to me…”

My fingers tightened slightly around the phone.

“…I will make you regret ever making this deal.”

A threat, direct and clear. I smiled faintly. “I understand.”

“Do you?” he asked.

“Yes,” I replied. “And I give you my word. I’ll deliver as promised.”

Then I added. “I’ll send the twenty–seven gifted betas to you today. Just send me a location.”

“Fine. I’ll send you the location.”

The line went dead. I lowered the phone slowly and let out a quiet breath.

Step one done. Now for the hard part.

I scrolled through my contacts again. Stopped at another name. Garrett.

I stared at it for a second. Then pressed call.
It rang once, he picked up immediately.

“Damien.” His voice was tense.

Good, just the way I expected it to be. He should be tense.

“Garrett,” I said calmly.

“What do you want?” Straight to the point. I smiled slightly.

“I know I haven’t been fair to you.”

No response, he remained calm.

“So how about we make a deal?” I continued.

“What kind of deal?” he asked cautiously.

I leaned forward slightly. “I release your sister and she goes back to your family,” I added. “To your mother. Safe.”

I could hear his breathing change.

“She’s alive?” he asked quickly.

“Yes. Of course she's alive.”

Another pause, longer this time.

“What do you want?” he asked again.

There it was. “I need you to deliver something for me.”

His tone hardened. “What?”

“The twenty–seven gifted beta wolves in the new warehouse.”

Heavy silence.

“I’ll send you the location and time,” I continued. “You take them there. Deliver them.”

“And then?” he asked.

“Then your sister walks free.” Another pause.

Then he spoke. “I’ll be as good as dead.”

I smirked slightly.

“Jasper will kill me,” Garrett added.

I leaned back.

“So what is it going to be?” I asked calmly. “Should I kill your sister… or do you want to sacrifice for your family?”

Silence. His breathing was heavier now and uneven.

“At least if you do as I say,” I continued, “your sister lives.”

Still nothing.

“You guys still have a chance,” I added. “You can run, hide. Start over somewhere else.”

A pause.

“I can even give you a small settlement,” I said. “Enough to disappear.”

Then he responded. “…Okay.”

The word came out low. Defeated.

“Give me the location and time.”

A small smile spread across my lips. “Good choice.”

“Just make sure my sister is okay,” he added quickly.

“She is,” I replied. “And she stays that way… as long as you do what I say.”

“I’ll do it.”

I nodded slightly. “I’ll send you the details.”

Then my voice dropped cold. “Make sure Jasper doesn’t hear about this.” I said.

“I know you tell him everything,” I added.

His breathing hitched slightly.

“But if you say even one word about this deal…” I let the threat hang for a second.

“…You will never see your sister again.”

“…I understand.”

“Good.”

“I’ll deliver them,” he said. “All twenty–seven.”

I smiled. “That’s what I like to hear.”

The call ended. I lowered the phone slowly and leaned back. Everything was in motion now.

No turning back, just one path forward and I was going to take it–no matter what it cost.
