Chapter 217 Part 2 Chapter 43
Idara
I was left in the sitting room with little Julian. His nanny stayed nearby, keeping an eye on him as he played with his toys on the floor. Meanwhile, I sat quietly in a chair, trying to keep my thoughts from spiraling.
Whatever Helio was dealing with, I just hoped it would end well.
He hadn’t told me much, but I could sense the tension in him earlier. It was in the way he moved, the way his voice had tightened slightly when he spoke.
Something serious was happening.
I had already been feeling that tension long before I told him about Eleanor’s phone call, but after I mentioned it, the atmosphere around him seemed to grow even heavier.
Helio never told me exactly where he was going. But seeing Violet and Danae leave with him made it obvious enough.
They had gone to the council meeting I had heard whispers about.
To be honest, he was keeping me completely in the dark about everything. Still, he had promised to explain it all once things were settled.
Maybe he was doing it for my sake.
Perhaps it was better for me to stay away from the affairs of the council.
But who was I trying to fool?
The moment I accepted Helio as my mate, I had already stepped into this complicated world.
Suddenly, my phone vibrated in my hand.
I glanced at the screen and saw my mother’s name.
Without hesitation, I lifted the phone to my ear.
“Hello?”
A voice answered.
Soft. Familiar.
But it wasn’t my mother’s voice.
It was Marilyn.
“Hello, Idara,” she said sweetly. “Do you miss me?” and immediately she cuts off the call.
My entire body stiffened.
I jumped to my feet so abruptly that Julian stopped playing and turned his head to look at me. His nanny also noticed my sudden reaction.
“Is something wrong, ma’am?” she asked immediately.
I turned to her, panic rising in my chest.
“There’s someone in my mother’s house,” I blurted out. “An intruder.”
The moment the words left my mouth, the nanny’s posture straightened, her expression turning serious.
“Do you know who the intruder is?” she asked.
But I was already moving toward the door.
I had to get to my mom.
I needed to reach her as quickly as possible.
Before I could go far, the nanny stepped in front of me, blocking my path.
“Please stop,” she said firmly.
“Move,” I snapped, fear making my voice sharp.
But she shook her head.
“The Alpha has ordered that you are not to leave the mansion,” she said calmly. “It isn’t safe outside.”
Right now, my safety was the last thing on my mind.
“You don’t understand,” I said desperately. “My mother—”
“You’re forgetting something,” she interrupted gently. “We are werewolves, Luna. Just give me your mother’s address and I will send guards there immediately. I promise you we will bring her here safely.”
Her words were reassuring, but before I could respond, my phone rang again.
I answered quickly without even checking the caller.
“Idara.”
Danae’s voice came through the line.
“Do not leave the mansion,” she said firmly. “Someone is at your mother’s house, but we are handling it.”
A small wave of relief washed over me.
“Okay,” I said, pacing anxiously, one hand pressed against my forehead. “Because Marilyn just called me.”
“I know,” Danae replied calmly. “Just stay calm.”
I tried to steady my breathing.
My mother was the only family I had left in this world. The thought of anything happening to her terrified me.
Especially because I knew exactly what Marilyn was capable of.
I turned back to the nanny.
“What’s your name?” I asked.
“Rose,” she replied.
I nodded.
“Rose… you said you could send guards there, right?” I asked urgently. “Please do.”
She didn’t hesitate.
“Of course.”
She immediately pulled out her phone and began making quick, urgent calls.
I sank back into the chair, my breathing uneven as I buried my face in my hands, trying to calm the storm of fear inside me.
A moment later, Rose walked over to me.
“Luna,” she said gently, “I’ve already sent some of Madam Violet’s most loyal guards to your mother’s house. I assure you she will be safe.”
I nodded slowly, trying to believe her.
Then something suddenly occurred to me.
“Wait,” I said, lifting my head. “But I never gave you my mother’s address.”
Rose brought a hand to her lips, her expression slightly awkward.
I understood immediately.
Of course.
They must have done background checks on me long ago.
For a moment, I considered calling Helio. But since Danae had already contacted me, it meant he was probably aware of the situation.
So instead, I closed my eyes and whispered a silent prayer.
Please…
Don’t let Marilyn hurt my mother.
I sat there for who knows how long. When my phone rang again and I saw it was my mom, I answered immediately.
“Mom?”
“Oh, Idara,” she said, and I didn’t even realize when tears started falling down my cheeks as I got up and touched my beating heart.
“Mom, are you alright now?” I asked quickly.
“There is no need to worry, Idara,” she replied almost immediately. “When she came in and asked about you, I told her you no longer live here. So she ordered her guards to take my phone and call you.”
She paused before continuing.
“But it wasn’t long after she threatened to kill you that some suited men or werewolves suddenly came in,” she explained.
Deep down, I knew my mom must have been terrified. She only sounded calm because she didn’t want me to worry.
“Mom, I’m just glad you’re okay,” I said, my voice shaking.
“What about Marilyn?” I asked.
She sighed softly.
“Some of her guards were hurt, but she was taken away by the werewolves. Oh, it looked like another group had just arrived,” she said, which immediately made me alert.
“Oh, don’t worry,” she added quickly. “It seems the ones keeping watch over the house approached them.”
Just then, I felt someone touch me. When I looked down, I saw Julian standing beside me.
I offered him a small smile. He must have been worried after seeing me so shaken.
I really was a bad babysitter.
“Okay, Mom. Thank God you’re okay. I’ll call you later,” I said before ending the call.
I bent down and picked Julian up.
“Are you okay now?” he asked.
“Yes, I’m okay now,” I said with a smile, taking a deep breath.
I wondered where they would take Marilyn because I needed to see her. I needed to stop her madness once and for all. She had made my life miserable enough already, and I wasn’t going to take it anymore.
Soon, Rose, who had stepped out earlier, came back inside.
“Before the men arrived, everything had already been sorted out,” she said with a bow.
I turned to look at her.
“Thank you,” I said.
She simply smiled at me.
While Helio was sorting the problem with the pack of wolves, I should be solving my own problems.
“Find out where they took her to" I said and she bowed “as you wish Luna".
