I love a guy
[Emily's POV]
"Hey Gran! What are you doing there? You will get tired standing by the window like this."
I asked as I came home, and my grandmother was standing by the window. I put my arms around my grandmother's neck and kissed her forehead.
Anastasia Jackson was Emily Jackson's grandmother and her only blood relation in this world. She was 70 years old but she looked 30 years old, very young and beautiful just like Emily.
She took a look at my tired face and slapped me lovingly.
"Gran, I just arrived and you already started hitting me," I said, putting my hand on my back and making me sit on the couch. "How many times have I asked you to sleep whenever I come late? Just don't stand by the window like that. Now you are 70 years old, not that 17 anymore."
"And how many times have I told you not to come home so late in the middle of the night like this. As time passes my heart beats very fast. I always get panic attacks because of you," Ms. Anastasia said, angrily.
"What do I do Gran? My job is like that, sometimes there is an emergency. You are the grandmother of a police officer, strengthen your heart," I said, looking out the window at the half moon.
"Strengthen my heart? I don't have the guts to watch another funeral at this old age," she cried, wiping her eyes and preparing food for me.
"Older? Where do you look old? Even today, people think you are my sister and as far as the funeral, who is saying that you should see it? Anyway, there are fifteen days left for the full moon. On the day when it happens, I will take a short leave as usual and come home early. Now please give me a big smile Gran."
"What was the emergency today that you had to come back at midnight," Ms. Anastasia asked.
"Today we went to the hospital to get an autopsy report but on our way back there was a fire...."
"Oh God bless you, where did the fire start? Are you okay? You didn't get hurt," she held my hand and turned me round and reassured herself that I was fine.
"No Gran! I'm fine and that was a false alarm anyway."
"False alarm?" a few slits appear on Ms. Anastasia's forehead.
"Yes, it was a chemical explosion, there was someone who wanted to destroy the evidence, so....but you leave it all and listen to me," I said, shrugging it off.
"Destroying evidence is also a crime. He must get caught or else," Ms. Anastasia's mind was still stuck there.
"Yes ma'am we will catch him as soon as possible," I saluted my grandmother while sitting. "Now please listen to me Gran. I have to talk to you, which is very important." Leaving everything, I sat up straight and started rubbing my hands slowly in anxiety.
"About what?" Ms. Anastasia asked, putting a slice in her mouth and carefully trying to read her face.
"Actually," pausing slightly, I tucked my hair behind my ears and spoke quickly. "I like a guy, dating him for four years but I don't want to get married so soon. I have checked his background. Well, he is single, I mean his parents are also dead and has no siblings either. I wanted to tell you earlier but I thought you would be worried. So I found the answer to the questions, you wanted to ask him first so that you don't reject him when you meet him. I mean he is a very nice person. And I like him a lot and I hope you like him too."
I was getting short of breath due to speaking so much in one minute, I took a deep breath and looked at my grandmother who was holding a chopstick in her hand and watching the changing color of my face. Ms. Anastasia had never seen me so happy before. At least not since the death of my parents. As she was talking about the guy today, how many dreams were shining in her eyes about her new life.
"What is his name?" Ms. Anastasia kept the chopsticks in her hand and looked at me seriously.
"Lowell Kevin," my pale cheeks flushed red at the mention of his name.
"When you are going to introduce him to me," Ms. Anastasia took a deep breath and turned back to eating.
"Soon," I said, jumping with joy.
"Well," Ms. Anastasia's hands stopped. "You just told me that his parents also died. What happened to them?"
"I didn't ask much and he just said that where he used to live in Ratguia Town there was an attack by werewolves."
"Werewolves," hearing this, the chopstick fell from her hand, causing some of the food to bounce off the plate and onto the table.
"What happened Gran?"
"What if, he himself is a werewolf," Ms. Anastasia said, showing her fear.
[Pause]
I giggled at this, causing my voice to echo throughout the house.
"I'm serious Emily, tell....tell me he's not a werewolf," she asked a little harshly.
"What are you talking about Gran? How can he be a werewolf? I have known him for four years and forty-eight times in these four years, the moon appeared in the sky. If he was a werewolf, he would have done his job quietly and no one would have known?"
"All it takes to become a werewolf is a scratch...."
"Gran! Gran! You are worrying unnecessarily and raising your blood pressure, your son and daughter-in-law were also killed by werewolves, did I become a werewolf, no? Similarly, he didn't become one."
"I don't know anything, you just don't close your eyes from his side. This time, on the full moon night, I will go to Luna Temple and worship the moon goddess for the whole night so that she will keep you under her protection. I thought that changing the place would save us from this torment, but no, it's just going along like a shadow," Ms. Anastasia mumbled to herself and began wrapping the dishes.
I knew that the name of werewolves put her in a bad mood and it was inappropriate to talk to anymore after that. So I went straight to her room.
