The queen witch

The queen witch
SERENA'S POV

Having a conversation with the witch Queen did not seem like a terrible idea to me. It had been Alpha Bernard’s suggestion but Alpha Basil was not buying it.

They had killed my parents, I was aware of that and I probably should not sit to have a conversation with them, but I just felt the urge to.

“Having a conversation with the witch Queen is different from having a peace talk with her, they are two different things,” I lectured Alpha Basil.

“She’s right. They called for it and I think it’s best we listen to what they have to say,” Alpha Bernard backed me up.

Dean was there with us, the latest millionaire in the pack. He had almost not believed it when he found out about what I did. I made him smile and I was glad.

He had not forgiven the evil Alpha twins for what they had done to him; he was only seated here with us because he wanted to take revenge for our parents.

After we took down their killers, he might decide to take revenge on them for what they put him through. If it were not for Gigi, he would have taken the fall for a crime he did not commit.

“How soon do they want us to meet with them?” Alpha Basil broke the silence.

“They were ready whenever we were ready,” his twin replied.

“I’ll suggest we swing into action right now; that way we’ll be able to figure out their plan on time and come up with what to do,” Dean contributed.

“Dean is right. We don’t have black powers so we would need to put in a lot of work to defeat them,” I adjusted myself on the couch before speaking.

Alpha Basil whispered into Alpha Bernard’s ear. Just staring at them sometimes irked me so much. My parents were the reason I was still here in the pack with them.

They might be discussing how they would get themselves another sex partner since Willow would be executed publicly any time from now.

“I have something else to do,” I announced, or the meeting might not be rounded up on time.

Before they called for a meeting, I had planned to lock myself up in the room and read the letter Shaun had sent to me. I was not so sure he was the sender though.

I was curious about the content but I just had not been able to summon the courage to read through it. He might not have written in it the things I would love to read.

Dean also needed to leave for his room to rest; it had only been twenty four hours since he got out of prison. All we did was stare at one another rather than discuss the way forward.

Alpha Bernard’s eyes were stuck on me. He had been acting as though I were a creature from Alien and it was his first time setting his eyes on me.

“Fine. Let’s do this,” Alpha Basil ordered.

He gave the order and not Alpha Bernard; it took me so long to realize that. Alpha Bernard acted tough but he wasn’t the dominant twin. Alpha Basil was the one who acted soft.

I rose to my feet and Dean did the same. The Alpha twins needed to do the same so we would all head to wherever the witch Queen was.

“Where are you both off to?” Alpha Basil inquired. That sounded like a rhetorical question to my ears.

“To see and have a word with the witch Queen, of course,” Dean was nice enough to respond.

“Just like that? Without a solid plan?” Alpha Basil asked.

“What do you mean by that?” I raised an eyebrow. He got me confused with those questions of his.

“We can’t be so sure the witch Queen hasn’t set a trap for us; she might just be waiting for us to walk into it,” he remarked.

I reasoned with him and realized that he had a point. She might not have good plans for us and could be only looking for a way to lure us to her.

“I’m not experienced when it comes to dealing with a rising coven of witches, pardon me if I’m too forward.”

I took my seat and was willing to listen to everything that had to be said. The witch Queen mustn’t prey on me when I least expected it.

Before I left Shaun in his pack, I had promised him to return alive and I was willing to fulfill my promise. If I refused to tread carefully, the witch Queen might make me break my promise.

“I’m not scared of her, in case that is what it looks like,” I muttered. The last thing I wanted was the Alphas thinking of me as a coward, which I was not.

I would not deny the fact that this was more than me. Facing the rising coven of witches did not sound like a child’s play, but a battle, a very serious one.

“Give us a few minutes. The pack’s soldiers need to be informed about what to do,” Alpha Basil announced after standing to his feet.

“Do you still want us to meet with them today?” Dean asked.

“We have to. We only need to put certain things in place so our safety can be guaranteed. It wouldn’t be nice for them to snack on us,” Alpha Bernard replied. He tried to be sarcastic but I did not find his words funny.

The Alpha twins made way towards the exit, leaving Dean and me alone in the living room. I rested my back on the couch since the Alpha twins might not return anytime soon.

“What do you think about what we’re about to do?” Dean did not hesitate to break the silence that was just about to start.

“I mean it’s okay if you want to return to Shaun at this point. You’ve done so well for the pack already and I can tell you that the pack—”

“It’s fine,” I chimed. My hand landed on his lap.

“I started this, it’s best I see it to the end. Our parents will roll in their grave till eternity if I don’t do this for them,” I added.

“They’ll be so proud of us,” Dean cooed.

He was right. Our parents would be so proud of us if we successfully took revenge on the rising witches coven. I would be at peace myself too.

“We can go now,” Alpha Bernard showed up. I did not expect him to return this soon.

Dean and I rose at the same time. I took a deep breath and it might just have been because I knew what we were getting ourselves into; it could get bloody at some point.

I walked past Alpha Bernard who for some reason did not think it was uncool to pierce my skin with his eyes. He was beginning to make me uncomfortable.

“Which of the cars are we going in?” I inquired after stepping into the compound. I expected Alpha Bernard to give me a response since he was behind me.

“I don’t think we’ll be going in a car,” Dean replied.

“Why?”

“They won’t want that,” Alpha Bernard said.

They both confused me with those words of theirs. Were we supposed to teleport to their abode?

“How do we get there?”

“They gave us specific instructions when they reached out to us. As it was then, we did not even know where they stayed,” Alpha Bernard mentioned.

Alpha Basil showed up and next to him was the head of security. It seemed as though he would be coming with us and as for me, that was not necessary.

The head of security that I knew did not stand a chance against the rising coven of witches; he was not like the former head of security who had been killed by the rogues.

“All you have to do is follow our lead and we’ll arrive at their abode safely,” Alpha Basil told me.

“I’m here; it means that you have nothing to worry about,” Alpha Bernard said. If Willow or a maiden had been here with us, I would have assumed those words were for her.

“My brother was coming with us the last time I checked,” I said to him because I needed him to know that it was not his duty to protect me. The witches had nothing on me, I believed that.

Alpha Bernard, Alpha Basil and the head of security led the way. I did not like that Dean and I were walking behind them so I caught up with them, just like a nemesis.

“The seer of the pack is with us on this one, that’s a plus,” Alpha Bernard cooed. He did not seem able to keep his mouth shut for long.

“The plan is to listen to what they have to say and attack them afterwards,” the dominant Alpha, Alpha Basil, announced.

“Attack?” I questioned. We had only spoken about hearing what they had to say. I was not prepared to face a coven of witches at that moment!
