Chapter 23 Twenty three

Chapter 23 Twenty three
Laura's POV.
I was suddenly so into training, it felt like my daily ritual, I was determined to do it everyday since I finished the first day, Darren liked that I was interested in training, Karl sometimes teased me like he normally did.
"Why are you so invested in training? It feels like you need to always do it." Karl said.
"You said that at some point I might be Luna, as the alpha's mate, and my wolf isn't strong, for reasons I'm yet to know, but I feel incredibly strong and my wolf feels good after we train, though it's so exhausting." I said and he nodded with a smile.
"The alpha is always busy, because he has such a big pack to handle, and we've recently had to resolve an issue with a neighboring pack, so he might have trained you himself." Karl said.
I nodded with a sigh, I knew that and I missed him terribly, I haven't seen him in five days and I blame the mate bond more for it, it felt like he was gone for years, and wasn't coming back, but it was five days, five days since he ran out of the room after he got a call, telling me he would be back, I waited all night, the next day and I didn't see him.
The only ones who gave me updates were Karl and Dean, and Karl wasn't here at times, he was in the meetings too, whatever happened, it was serious, so serious he wasn't back for days, he came back once and I didn't know, all I could use to guess was the dent the bed had in the morning and I smelt him on me, he cuddled me the whole night, and I saw a pack of cigarettes, Dean told me he smokes when he is stressed.
I miss him terribly, but I didn't want to be the distraction that'll stop him from solving whatever it is, I wanted to be the biggest source of comfort for him, so much that he won't even need a cigarette to calm himself down.
"Stop thinking and let's finish this." Dean said and I nodded.
At first I thought Dean would be so much easier to fight with, but he wasn't, it was hard to train with him. I wondered how I'd become the best or at least one of the best, if I couldn't beat Dean.
Karl told me Dean was more challenging than he was, Karl was straight to the point, he wasn't corny while fighting, you can guess his move, but his advantage was his strength, if you can match his strength, that's what will make you catch up with him, but his strength wasn't easy to match.
With Dean it was harder, you couldn't guess his move easily, he had the strength and also the craftiness while fighting. Karl told me Dean fought like his uncle, Darren taught Karl how to fight since he was ten, he was trained everyday by Darren.
Karl told me how it was hard to even touch Darren while you fought with him, he had the grace of a warriors, he was flexible as well, he could easily do what he wanted and that made it very hard to beat him, he hasn't been beaten by anyone in the pack, he was the best and skilled fighter here.
Dean tapped my shoulder and I nodded focusing on him, he smirked and made a signal for me to come at him.
I found a way to calculate my move and I hoped it worked for me. I watched him look away and I used my leg to try hitting him, yet he held me immediately and I groaned in frustration.
"Hit me harder and make sure you get at least two hits,if you do,you've won." He said and I nodded, clenching my fist.I started attacking him with punches and he blocked everyone if they did, I tried kicking him, but it was to no avail, he still stopped my kicks too.
"Damn it." I said and he smiled.
"I'll definitely get that two punch or more and I'll win this before the time is up." I said and he laughed.
"Alright, you have five minutes left." He said, looking at the clock with me.
"Let's do this." he said and I nodded, I formed a new plan in my head,I attacked his upper form and he kept blocking them, that was my plan, to make him think I would keep attacking him there, and then I'll hit him where he didn't expect, I heard the clock tick and I kept throwing punches, and he kept blocking them.
I was left with just two minutes and I wanted to hit him, I kept up with what I wanted and he focused on blocking, and I used that to kick him twice.
He stepped back gasping in surprise, then he smiled, "oh wow, that was sleek." He said.
"Yeah I know, now I made a promise to myself, so let's continue." I said looking at the clock, I was left with a minute.
He readied himself and he blocked my moves and I paused and hit him a little before it was time to eat and the clock dinged.
"Wow, that was two and a half." He said and I nodded.
"At least it wasn't just two, promise completed." I said doing a victory dance.
"Yeah you did really well, you've improved." He said with a smile.
"I hope the damn meeting is over, it's been days." Dean sighed and I nodded.
"I know right and I miss him like crazy." I said.
"I don't have the mate bond or anything but I miss my uncle. I wonder how you must feel." He said and I nodded.
I felt really terrible and lonely without him. Now I understand what happens to those who lose their mate. I now get how they feel, it was such a shitty feeling.
"Well, he'll be free soon, I'm sure." I said standing up.
"Now let's go eat." I said, thinking of the cook, I'm sure she left something really nice for me.
