Chapter 73 - Just gone!!

Blanca

Watching our lives unfold after all the pain we experienced was the biggest blessing I could ever have asked for. Going through pregnancies and having our kids together was not what I pictured I could have with my best friend. I thought this part of our lives we would have moved on and our friendship would just be a distant memory.

I wish things could be different so many times. I wished I could show her our world and that I could have this incredible life with her in it, but I never imagined we would be sitting here together with our kids and our mates. I didn’t imagine that our lives could be this perfect, and it was. Watching Lilith and Ezra, my heart just soared.

I thought back to the day Ezra stole the bracelet and a huge grin broke out over my face. It was almost like the moon goddess drew them together back then. If I knew that they would be so happy now, I wouldn’t even have dated Ezra. Even with the mate bond pulling us together, I would have instantly rejected him. Lilith was my sister, now more than ever.

I was excited about the rest of what we had to look forward to.

IT WAS THE FIRST DAY of school for our older kids and Lilith and I had arranged to drop them off together. It was so surreal to wake up and realize that our children were going to the same school we went to. It was the most incredible feeling to realize they would be sharing their lives in ways we were never able to before she found out.

It turned out to be an entire enterprise to get out of our pack territory, into theirs and to pick them up. The four cars pulled into the drop-off at school and we both laughed at the fact that it took four cards and six grown-ups to drop off two little ones. We said goodbye with tears in our eyes. Watching our two kids walking into school, hand-in-hand, was one of the most precious moments of my entire life.

It was one of the things I had dreamed about for so long, but never thought we would have. Hell! I didn’t even think I would be living with our pack at this stage of my life. Lilith offered to pick me up later so we could pick them up together and I wholeheartedly agreed. We had school supplies we needed to buy after school and to be able to have her there was just amazing.

We had an entire afternoon planned to make the first day of school really special for our kids and picking them up in the afternoon was just as special as that morning. I could actually imagine us taking our kids on road trips to look at colleges one day and being at their different mating ceremonies. I can imagine our full lives together.

I could see both me and Lil sitting on the porch with our platinum hair blowing in the wind while we drank tea and our grandchildren played around us. I can picture our entire lives just being blessed. In the back of my mind, I knew life wasn’t that easy, but I didn’t allow myself to think about that. I wanted to take in every moment of every blessing.

THE DAY THE CALL CAME, it felt as if someone had literally ripped my heart from my chest!

Lilith

Our morning started just like any other morning. Ezra woke me up with some early morning coffee and we just talked about our plans for the day while we still had some quiet time. Our son would burst through the door at any moment, and just taking a moment each morning to connect before we started our day was such a blessing. We had been talking for a while when I frowned and looked at Ezra.

“Do you think he is sick?” I burst out laughing. I checked my watch and our son was already twenty minutes late, which was incredibly strange for him. He burst into our room at exactly the same time every morning … I struggled to get out of bed and Ezra laughed.

“Something probably just distracted him.” We walked out the door and it was eerily quiet. I looked at Ezra and it felt as if my heart was about to stop! Our stride got a little bigger as we rushed to his room and he was gone. “Okay, let’s not panic. Maybe one of the omegas took him to the kitchen. He can’t have gone that far. His legs are too short, okay?” I knew that Ezra was trying to keep me calm. I nodded and we made our way to the kitchen.

He wasn’t there and nobody had seen him! That was when chaos erupted. Ezra started shouting orders through the pack link and the entire pack searched every nook and cranny of our home, but our son was gone. There was no trace of his scent. There was just nothing!! Ezra called Carlo and within minutes their pack joined our search throughout our territory! When lunch rolled around and there was no sign of him, I felt as though my entire life was crashing down around me. Blanca was incredible. Everyone was, but I couldn’t see anything other than the fact that my son was just gone.

Night came and there was still no sign of him. I felt as though I was going out of my damn mind! How could a child just disappear into thin air? Literally! His scent was in his room, but it was nowhere else! We had no leads to go on and the entire territory had been combed over and over, but he was just gone! I couldn’t even begin to imagine going to bed. How did you fall asleep not knowing where your child was?!!

How did you carry on with life?!! How did you even breathe?
