Chapter 123 Stephanie is Like Wonder Woman
Chapter 123 Stephanie is Like Wonder Woman
Chloe's POV
Just then, Stephanie's phone suddenly rang.
It was an unknown number.
Stephanie glanced at the number, her brows slightly furrowing, but she still pressed the answer button.
I don't know what was said on the other end, but her face instantly turned cold.
"Got it."
She only said those two words before hanging up.
"What's wrong?" I looked at her icy expression, feeling a tightness in my chest. "Did something happen?"
"It's nothing," she said, putting away her phone. Her face returned to calm, but the flash of murderous intent in her eyes sent a shiver down my spine.
"Just some annoying people stirring up trouble again."
She didn't say more, and I knew better than to keep asking.
Because I understood that some things were her own battles to fight.
After spending the whole afternoon at Stephanie's apartment, which was basically a palace, I finally reluctantly headed back home.
As soon as I walked in, I saw Anthony sitting on the living room couch with a serious look, waiting for me.
"Chloe," he put down the newspaper and gave me a look that screamed "I already know everything." "Where did you go causing trouble today?"
"What do you mean causing trouble?" I immediately put on my good-daughter face and naturally walked behind him to massage his shoulders.
"I was out handling serious business today! I went with Stephanie to her new apartment to discuss the project plans for Elite Choice Executive Search Firm for the next three months! The workload was insane!"
As I spoke, I pulled out my phone and opened the photo of the ocean view I took from Stephanie's balcony that afternoon.
"Dad, Mom, look at this! This is Stephanie's new place! The ocean view is absolutely stunning!"
My mom, Elara Humphrey, came out of the kitchen when she heard me. She glanced at the photo and let out a gasp.
"My goodness… isn't this Azure Sentinel?"
"Azure Sentinel?"
"Yes," Elara nodded, her eyes shining with envy. "It's the most exclusive property in the coastal area. The top floor has only one apartment, and it's not for sale to the public. I heard it was bought by a mysterious billionaire three years ago. I never imagined it was Frederick."
She paused for a moment before adding, "And I heard the private helipad next to that apartment alone is worth over nine figures."
Nine figures?!
My brain just shut down.
"So?" Anthony put down the newspaper with a knowing smile. "Now do you see the gap between you and Stephanie?"
Here we go again.
"Stephanie isn't just the business president of Elite Choice Executive Search Firm; she's also the real power behind Valerius Pack!"
He pointed at a business magazine in his hand. The cover featured Stephanie at a charity gala, announcing the launch of a special fund.
In the photo, she looked confident, powerful, and absolutely radiant.
"Look at this article," Anthony said, his tone full of unhidden admiration. "Valerius' new policies! She's only been in charge for a few days, and she's already got those stubborn old-timers in the Pack completely under control!"
"That Talent Pipeline incentive plan she introduced? I heard even Ivan and William personally called her to learn from it!"
"And her charity fund! I heard yesterday that Thorn Pack and Turner Pack each added another nine-figure donation!"
With every sentence he said, my jaw dropped a little more.
By the end, I could only stare blankly at the magazine cover.
Stephanie in the photo was breathtakingly beautiful.
But in her eyes, there was an undeniable strength that could make any man bow down to her.
I mumbled to myself, "Stephanie was like Wonder Woman today!"
And right at that moment, my phone rang again, completely out of nowhere.
