Chapter 69 -- YOU ARE A WOLFLESS SCUM NOW
Third POV
Carter opened his mouth to say something, but his voice choked in his throat. His pupils narrowed dramatically, as if he had seen a ghost.
"Easy," Sofia grinned, "as long as you give me a satisfying answer, we'll both have a pleasant evening."
Carter put away his out-of-control expression and replaced it with his usual aloofness and seriousness. But his slightly trembling fingers betrayed him.
Sofia reaches out and touches the hand that Carter has gripped the door with, Carter quickly pulls his hand back as if he's been electrocuted.
Sofia giggledand said, "Alpha Carter, shouldn't you invite me in for a break? You know, the Witch Dungeon to your house is a long enough distance for me."
Carter's eyes were wary and Sofia scowled at him playfully, after a few seconds Carter opened the door.
Sofia stepped inside, she looked around and stopped dead in her tracks when she saw the huge family photo in the living room. "Wow, it seems like you have a happy family. Look at your daughter, got the perfect family."
"I'm on a tight schedule." Carter said coldly from behind Sofia.
Sofia turned around, laughter vibrating from deep within her chest, "Don't worry, no one will bother us tonight."
Carter's eyebrows furrowed deeply, "What do you mean?"
Instead of answering, Sofia walked over to the couch and sat down, her voice becoming low, "Carter, I think you should come and set here."
Carter suddenly realized what was going on and he angrily walked over, "What have you done to my family?"
"Funny," Sofia said in a smooth tone, "that's exactly my question."
She stood up to meet the hostile eyes, "Where is my daughter?"
Carter inclined his head, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"I won't say that twice, Carter. Surely you don't want anything to happen to your wife and daughter."
Carter's breathing became more rapid, "Sofia, I know you're a good person. You wouldn't hurt them."
"Don't pretend you know what kind of person I am." Sofia pulled hard on the collar of Carter's shirt, "If I can't find my daughters, I'll do anything."
"I really don't know, Sofi, Harper is my daughter too, but she hated everything here in Slivergray. She chose to leave."
"You bastard! You treated her like a rat in an underground pipe! There's not a trace of her presence in your home. A nice family of three, uhh?"
"Because she should never have been born!" Carter shouted, clenching her fists, "If you hadn't used your filthy magic on me, I wouldn't have even touched a finger of yours!"
"Filthy magic?" Sofia felt absurdly ridiculous at what she had heard, "There is simply no magic in this world that can manipulate a person's feelings, forever. The so-called 'filthy magic' you said is just a lie made up by you to shirk your own responsibilities!"
"Lie! " Carter's pupils trembled as he covered his head and shouted, "You expect me to believe that's real? I would never fail in love with a witch!"
Sofia laughed mockingly at the sight of Carter breaking down.
Twenty years ago, she had risked her life to save this man by bringing him back to the witch tribe. The cute well-informed man quickly captured her heart.
At that time, Carter proposed to her under the moon, saying he was willing to stay in the Witch Tribe for her. She was so touched that she agreed to his proposal, and they agreed to hold their wedding in the following spring. Carter said he needed to go back to the Werewolf Kingdom to notify his parents to attend the wedding, Sofia did not stop him, but only instructed him not to disclose the location of the Witches to the rest of the world.
Shortly after Carter's departure, Sofia discovered that she was pregnant, and she desperately wanted him to come back sooner rather than later to learn the good news. However, by the time Sofia has spent half her life giving birth to a lovely daughter, she still hasn't heard from Carter.
Until that day, the iron hooves of the werewolf army broke through the defenses of the witch tribe, and she instantly became a traitor to the witch. At that time, she didn't know the man she loved so much had betrayed her. Desperate for help, she asked Elder of the werewolf tribe to entrust Harper, who was still a baby, to Carter in the hope that he would take care of their daughter.
She returns to the tribe. She is forced to learn the black magic she never cared to learn before, and begins to slaughter any shapeshifters who have participated in the witch hunt. It wasn't until the blood on her hands soaked into her marrow and the war finally stopped that Sofia realized-Carter was the one who had leaked the address of the witch tribe. His betrayal of her became his badge of honor, and it led to him marrying the daughter of the old Alpha of the Silver Grey Pack and becoming the new Alpha.
Their daughter, on the other hand, became a so-called adopted daughter.
She went mad trying to get her daughter back, but her power was so great that she was put in a magical prison by the coven as punishment.
Now, they release her again, but still because of her great power.
What an ironic ending.
Sofia drew her thoughts back from the memory. The twisted face of Carter in front of her overlapped with the gentlemanly look he'd taken on eighteen years ago, making her feel incredibly sick.
"You asked for it." Sofia waved her hand and pushed Carter hard to the ground with wind magic, reciting an incantation, "trembling voice, shaking body, treacherous monster, your lies pierce your heart."
As if he had lost his soul, Carter's eyes became vacant and he stopped all movement.
Sofia steps on Carter's shoulders, "Now, tell me everything you did to Harper."
A long statement, Sofia heard everything her daughter had been through. It was more horrific than the worst crime she could have imagined.
She angrily kicked Carter away and took a step backward.
Carter, who had come to his senses, took the opportunity to immediately transform into a wolf and pounce towards Sofia. But he soon found that his feet were immobilized and he couldn't move, "Let go of me, Bitch!" he shouted hysterically.
Sofia looked at him coldly and reached out, choking him across the room, "Carter Lourier, years ago you lied to me and then abused my child, even tried to kill her. It was my mistake to trust you blindly, and I will find my child to atone for my sins. But you, you don't deserve to see her again."
"What are you going to do?! You... want to kill me?" Carter struggled, stubbornly squeezing a few words out of her suffocation, "I'm an Alpha of the Werewolf ... Sofia! You can't do this!"
"I'm not going to kill you," Sofia quirked up the corners of her mouth in a mysterious smile, "I just want you to spend all of your future lives tasting what it's like to lose your wolf as well. Surely you're well acquainted with this, as you have poisoned my child since she was born!"
Sofia's hair floated up and black filled her turquoise eyes. She recited a spell again that was much more obscure than the last, complicated as if it were words that didn't belong in this world.
A black light struck Carter, entering his body, and he screamed in pain.
Great horror showed in Carter's eyes as his massive body fell to the ground, letting out a plea that didn't match his." Sofia, what are you doing to me? Stop it."
Sofia didn't falter at his pleas for mercy, instead the smile on her lips grew wider, as if she found the image highly amusing.
Carter found his body shifting back into his human form uncontrollably, and his desperate calls for his wolf were met with no response.
"Well", Sofia finally stopped as she towered over Carter who was trembling on the ground, "you are a wolfless scum now."
