Chapter 176 The Next Generation

Chapter 176 The Next Generation
Epilogue
Xander's POV

(Eight years later)

“Where's my sister?" I asked, throwing my bag on the ground. I would come back later for that.

“She's in her room, but–"

I didn't wait for her to finish talking before I dashed upstairs. Since I left for my Alpha training four years ago, I didn't return until now and the one person I wanted to see wasn't picking my call and had blocked me out of her thoughts.

And maybe it was because we were twins, but I could feel her emotions even though that was unique to mates. But for the past few days, nothing from her and I could tell something was wrong. Our parents assured me she was okay but something felt off.

"Sunshine, open the door.” I called, when I tried pushing the door but it didn't budge.

“I can hear slight movement." Caelan, my wolf said, adding to my frustration.

“Sunshine, I swear, I'm going to break your door down if you don't open it." I yelled, but nothing could be heard, except for her muffled sound. My hand formed a fist.

I was so close to losing my mind and I didn't care who the person was, but they might as well bid farewell to this world when I laid eyes on them. Nobody makes my sister cry and gets away with it.

"I'm okay, you can go.” She told me, her voice barely audible and I wouldn't have heard her.

I took a deep breath, resting my back against the wall. I've always been close to her and she told me everything that goes on with, especially the first year after I left to begin my training but now, all I was getting was a door in my face and there was no one but me to blame.

"You know that's not possible, Sunshine.” I said, "I'm not leaving here until I get an answer.”

"I'm fine Bear.”

I smiled softly, the fact that she was calling me by her nickname made me feel a bit relieved. "The sound of your voice right now would beg to differ."

“I don't want to talk about it now." She replied.

That hurt, but there was no way I was giving up anytime soon. “That’s fair but can I at least see you?” I asked her. "I mean, I was so excited about seeing you that I jumped out of a moving car…uhgg, I must've hurt my hand." I murmured, groaning slightly.

The door burst open, "why would you jump out of a moving car?” She asked, fussing over me, checking my body for injuries. "Bear, you can't do that. What was Julian doing?”

Just then, a loud footstep ran towards us and Julian, my best friend and Beta, approached us while glaring at me. "I swear, everyday I wonder if I didn't make the wrong decision becoming your friend."

I rolled my eyes, I couldn't count the number of times he'd threatened to cut ties with me because of how reckless I could be. But I knew he was joking. We've been best friends our whole life and our parents raised us not just as friends but family.

“Best friend." Sunshine corrected him and only then did I turn to look at her properly.

“And what the fuck happened to your face?" Julian asked, beating me to it.

Caelan let out a growl at the sight, her eyes were red and swollen like she'd been crying for hours. Somebody was going to die today.

"Who did this to you?” I asked, as calmly as I could.

"Nobody,” she replied. "I just missed you so much.”

"Rory, we all know that–” Julian started, equally annoyed but I just mindlinked him to stop. She was going to tell me what happened when she was ready but that doesn't mean I wouldn't look into it on my own.

I knew that whatever it was couldn't be from the pack, except they seriously wanted to die. Everyone knew she was the apple of dad's eyes and how protective of her he was.

It had to be at the school she'd insisted on attending. It was a school for the supernaturals and humans combined…a terrible idea if you ask me. Since no one could say no to her, she resumed the day after I left for camp.

“I missed you too, Sunshine." I murmured, wrapping my arms around her.

"I guess I'm going to high school.” I thought. "Seriously, stop glaring at me.” I told Julian, but that only made it worse.

"You jumped out of a moving car and Rory looks like she'd cried her eyes out…I can only assume something crazier than jumping out of a car is happening next.”

"You know me so much, are you sure you're not my mate?" I asked, but he just rolled his eyes.

Before he could respond, our parent's voices reached our ears. “I think we should tell them now." Mom said and I frowned. “It's only a matter of time before they start noticing that something is wrong.”

"We'll tell them at dinner."

Rory looked up at me, “what's going on? Are they going to get divorced?”

Julian snorted, "as if that can happen."

He was right, everyone knew they were obsessed with each other, so that was the last thing I could think of. And if anything, I hoped that when I find my mate, we're going to have a love like their own.

"I guess I'm just worried.” Mom said.

"Xander is going to protect her.” Dad assured her.

"And speaking of Xander, isn't he supposed to be back?" She asked again. “I've missed my sweet baby."

“He's in Rory's room."

I rolled my eyes, of course he knows. "And you were calling me sweet just a few minutes ago." He murmured.

“Zayne baby, you cannot be jealous of your own son.” Mom said, laughing and I didn't hear dad's response but I was certain any minute later, Sunshine and I will have another sibling.

“Let's go downstairs." I told them and they nodded. I wasn't the only one curious about what they wanted to tell us.

The moment we got down, my dad shot me a glare. "You couldn't hold them back for two minutes?"

“Zayne!” Mom called, slapping his arms slightly before turning to me. “I missed you so much, my darling. I can't believe you've grown taller than me." She murmured, hugging me.

"It's my turn now.” Julian said, pushing me away.

"Two of you can find your mate, leave my woman alone.” Dad told us, separating us from mom. I wanted to tell him she was my mom but his attention was on Sunshine now.

“What happened to you?” He asked, the warmth in his eyes was replaced by a dark look. His wolf pushing himself to the surface.

Rory looked at me for help, “She's just excited I'm joining her school.” I lied. "What was it you were going to tell us?” I asked, trying to change the subject. Dad took another look at me, making it obvious he didn't buy it but was trusting me to take care of it.

He wrapped his arms around her, placing a kiss on her forehead.

"It's time you both know about the prophecy.” Mom said, once we were all seated.

"Prophecy?” I asked, and she simply nodded before going into the details.

By the time she was done, I couldn't close my mouth. Rory and Julian had the same reaction but now it made a lot of sense.

I'd thought something was wrong with me when I did things I couldn't explain. At some point, I was convinced a witch had cast a spell on me. But hearing everything now made me feel relieved and at the same time fucking over the moon. I couldn't wait to find out what else I could do and looking at Sunshine, it was obvious she was thinking about the same thing.

"Dude! That's insane.” Julian said.

"Tell me about it.”

At least one thing is settled, being able to read some people's minds didn't make me crazy.
Aurora's POV
Out of everything I expected my mom to say, telling us we had special abilities and so does she, was the last thing I was expecting to hear.

But it made me feel special instead of just a weird kid…the colour of my hair already made me stand out, with everyone thinking I dyed it to get attention. I was tempted to dye it a different colour but Bear…Xander and my dad loved my hair colour and I did as well.

“Now, anybody that messes with us won't know what hit them." My wolf, Elysia, said.

But even without the powers, I could do just that. As an Alpha's daughter, setting an example was very important for you younger wolves, assuring them that not everything could be solved by violence. Although that was going to change now that Bear was here.

I had no idea what the future held for me, but for the first time, I couldn't wait to find out.
