Chapter 170 The Perfect Dress
Chapter 170 The Perfect Dress
Alyssa's POV
I took a deep breath as the girls pulled out another pile of dresses for me to try on. I swear I'm convinced they'd forgotten I have a bulging stomach and that I get tired the moment I stand up. Good thing they brought all the clothes to the Pack because if I had to go to the mall in my current state, we were all going to regret it.
"You have to try everything.” Aileen insisted.
“That's exactly what I've been doing for the past three hours!"
“When you say it like that, it feels like you're tired of us."
Aria snorted, showing me another dress. “That's exactly what it is." She said, “she's just putting it nicely. You should try this one, Luna, it brings out your eyes."
“I doubt anyone will be looking at my eyes." I murmured, touching my stomach. “They’ll be busy wondering how I am able to fit into a dress.” I heard myself say before I could stop the words from coming out.
The girls paused to look at me and I took a deep breath. I mean, I loved my bump, which by some magical power had become almost two times its size. The doctor assured me that it was normal since I was nearing my delivery day and I was happy but at the same time, I kept thinking about how that's going to look in a fitted dress.
Aria and Aileen both sat by my side, “What exactly is going on?” Aria asked.
I shook my head, "I just thought…you know, that I'm not going to be as big as this during the ceremony." I admitted.
“If it makes you feel better, you're the hottest pregnant woman I know.” Lori, who came back after spending two weeks with her mate, said. They'd decided to spend time in both packs because they both understood how hard it is to leave everything behind.
"And who cares?” Aileen added, "the only person who matters that day is my brother and yourself.” She assured me.
Before I could respond, Zayne's familiar voice filled my head, "Are you okay?” He asked. "Your emotions are all over the place."
“Uhm…yea.” I replied and it didn't sound convincing even to me. "I'm okay, I'm just trying to pick a dress with the girls. How's everything at your end going?"
“Do you think Elara is going to mind if I send Tristan away for…maybe six months?" He asked, and I frowned.
For a moment, I became more interested in what Tristan had done to deserve it. “What did he do?" I asked, “and I do think she's going to mind."
“Seems like we're not needed here anymore." I heard Aileen say as she stood up and my brows furrowed until I looked up to see what she was talking about. And when I did, a small smile appeared on my face.
“Hey beautiful.” He called, taking the space Aria had been sitting and his arms wrapped around me. “He’s supposed to be helping with the planning but I swear, he's doing the opposite.”
I chuckled quietly, "did he want to officiate the ceremony?"
“He wants to walk me down the aisle." He replied, obviously frustrated. “I swear he's doing this on purpose. I'm already overwhelmed as it is.”
I frowned, "you're overwhelmed? Did something happen with the elders or the arrangement?"
He shook his head, caressing my face gently. “ And nervous." He added, much to my confusion. “I'm finally getting married to the love of my life and she's going to be the most beautiful woman I've seen. I'm nervous I'm going to mess up my speech or something.”
"It doesn't matter,” I told him. "I already know exactly how you feel about me and that's all that matters to me.”
"I love you."
I smiled, “I love you so much."
He kissed my lips softly, “You're going to look perfect no matter the dress you pick.” He said,
I let out a sigh, "you knew.”
"Anyone can tell from the look on your face that you're worried about what people will think.” He replied, "but what matters is if you like your dress. Or are you ashamed of our children?”
I glared at him for even thinking that. “Of course not."
“Exactly! So who cares what any idiot thinks." He said, “Choose the dress you like the most and wear it with pride…everybody else can fu–”
"Language baby!” I whispered. “Do you want our children's first word to be a curse word?"
A horrified expression settled on his face at the thought of that happening and I fought back the urge to laugh. "That's not going to be good.” He murmured, rubbing his thumb over my hand.
“I just want you to be happy and even if you choose to wear a comfortable shirt and trouser, you'll still be the most gorgeous woman there." He told me after a brief silence.
"Don't give her ideas.” Aileen said, entering the room again. “Don't you have people to torture or something?"
He rolled his eyes and kissed my lips, "when you're able to ditch them, come find me. I have a surprise for you."
I nodded as he kissed me one more time before telling me goodbye.
Going back to choosing the perfect dress felt easier this time around. I was proud of my bump. After Zayne, they were the best things that happened to me and that was saying something since I had a lot of things happening to me recently.
"I think we can continue this tomorrow." I told the girls after about an hour. We'd settled on one but they thought I'd need something else once the main ceremony was over.
“The only reason I'm not objecting is because I need to go meet my hunk of a man…before Tristan and Jace manage to convince him that I'm crazy.” Lori said, murmuring the latter part.
“Yea, I would run if I were you." Aria teased. “They can't be trusted."
Without responding, Lori dashed out of the room, causing us to laugh. It was good to finally see her happy and not left out when we spoke about our mates.
“Let's just call it a day.” Aileen said, "but we'll conclude first thing in the morning."
We nodded, and I made my way to Zayne's office. As I got close, I frowned. “My imagination must be playing a trick on me.” I thought as I heard a familiar voice.
But as I pushed the door open, and the sight of my dad laughing over something with Alpha Dorian made it obvious I was obviously not hearing things.
“Dad!" I called excitedly. "You didn't tell me you were coming.” I continued, hugging him like my life depended on it even though I saw him two weeks ago.
"That's why it was a surprise, Red." Zayne said.
Just then, the door opened and mom entered followed by Nyra. "Your mate thinks you'll need all the help you can get with planning your Luna ceremony…and here we are." Mom said, and my smile widened.
“Thank you." I told Zayne, hugging him. I definitely wasn't expecting them until the ceremony since I figured that they'd need a lot of time catching up on things that happened while they were out of it.
"Anything for you." He said.
As I looked around the room, I realized I wasn't counting down to the ceremony anymore. I was counting down to the beginning of the rest of my life…with Zayne and with my family.
PS: I have a lot of things to say but thank you. We have about 4 to 5 chapters before we're done. Thank you for sticking with me. And as we round up, if there's something you want to see happen, you can let me know. I love you all.
Now let's get those two official!!
