Chapter 168 A week To Remember

Chapter 168 A week To Remember

Alyssa's POV

The pack was thrown into another round of celebration when they realized that their Alpha and Luna were perfectly healthy. They'd taken their bath and freshened up. And somehow, they looked younger than they did when we first saw them less than three hours ago.

I was in the room they'd arranged for Zayne and I. Zayne insisted I rest a bit before joining everyone in the living room.

But no matter how much I tried, I couldn't sleep. My parents' face, the joy in being able to hold and see us again was enough to keep me awake.

"You need to rest.” Zayne said, when I changed position for the fifth time in less than a minute.

“I know!" I groaned, throwing my hands in the air. “But my mind keeps going back to my parents." I told him, meeting his gaze. "They're all I can think about…even my wolf can't seem to keep still.”

He chuckled quietly, “Let's get you out of that bed, there's no way you're sleeping anytime soon." He told me and I was up immediately. He just laughed and helped me up before opening the door.

The others were still at the dining table, it was already time for dinner and seeing all the varieties on the table, my stomach growled, reminding me that I was starving.

Nyra was sitting between our parents and she looked the happiest I've seen her and it was beautiful.

"You were not able to sleep, were you?" Nyra asked.

"Tell me about it,” I grumbled, as Zayne pulled the empty seat beside my dad for me and then he sat next to me. "I close my eyes and they're everywhere. I doubt any of us will be sleeping properly for the next few days."

"I don't think I want to.”

Mom pushed a plate towards me, filled with all the varieties on the table and I started salivating. "I'm not sure what your favourite food is, so I made a bit of everything.”

My jaw dropped, "you made these?” I asked, taking a spoonful of the food. "They're amazing!"

“This is my third plate,” Aria said between mouthfuls. “And I'm nowhere near done.” She continued, stuffing her face with the food. The food was good no doubt but Aria was prim and proper when it came to eating. Xavier was looking at her like she hung the moon and I smiled.

Lori nodded, "she's right!" She agreed. “I don't think I want to leave anytime s–" She trailed off and I frowned before looking up to see why.

The table had gone silent and Lori's jaw dropped and her eyes widened like it would pop out of their socket.

“Fuck me! He's hot." She groaned, pushing away her plate. "He couldn't have come when I was done stuffing my face?"

I followed her eyes and met a man…probably around the same age as Zayne standing there, his eyes glued to her. And before I could process that she'd just found her mate, he was pulling her softly towards him and outside the room.

“We just lost another one guys," Aria said, refilling her plate for the fourth time. "She's definitely not coming back to the Pack with us.”

Aileen laughed, "definitely not.”
"Poor guy," Jace muttered, shaking his head slightly before returning to his food.

"Poor guy?" Aileen frowned.

"Have you met Lori?" he asked with a grin.

That earned him a napkin to the face from Aria while everyone else burst into laughter.

I smiled to myself, she would be the happiest woman in the werewolf community. Her greatest wish just came true and I couldn't be more happier because even if she doesn't say it, there were times I've seen her lost in her thoughts, especially at breakfast where everyone had their mates…before Nyra joined us and that was on a few occasions.

“We’re not going to hear the end of it.” My wolf said, and I couldn't agree more.

When dinner was finally over, nobody moved after the plates were cleared and I took my dad's hand. He smiled at me as he listened to the story Nyra was telling about how she discovered her ability…even though she didn't know it was anything special.

It wasn't until midnight, when everyone was tired and dizzy, that we finally decided to call it a night. And even at that, I was so close to demanding that I wanted to sleep between our parents.

“Thank you for doing this with me." I told Zayne, when we were finally settled into bed.

He cupped my face, my gaze meeting his own. "I love you, but you really need to stop thanking me for doing the bare minimum.” he said, as he placed a kiss on my lips. And I didn't realise how much I've missed it until that moment.

“Should I remind you that you were sucking faces just–" my wolf started.

“A pregnant girl's got need, and seriously, whose side are you on?" She just laughed before disappearing to the back of my mind.

“I love you.” I told him, pressing my lips to his own and he responded immediately.

Life was perfect!

We spent more than a week with my parents and I didn't want it to end. Apart from Zayne's arms around me when I opened my eyes, I woke up to different types of breakfast. My mom was still trying to figure out what I liked the best and also what was best for the children in my womb.

I loved every minute of it, but we'd left the Pack for so long and Alpha Dorian was already being so helpful in watching the pack while we were away and also dealing with his heart broken.

“Make sure you come visit me." I told my parents and Nyra, who had decided to stay with them.

Mom caressed my face gently, “of course." She murmured, unable to hide her tears. “I'll be sure to come until you're tired of seeing my face.” She added.

I shook my head, "that's never going to happen mom.” I whispered. "We have more than twenty years to make up for.”

She smiled, before kissing my forehead. I was fighting back tears of my own and my hormones didn't make it any easier.

Next was my dad, he hugged me, wrapping his arms around me carefully so that he wouldn't press the twins even though I told him they weren't that fragile but he didn't care.

“I'll miss you and thank you." He said, then turned to face Zayne. "Take care of my daughter.” He told him.

"With my life, sir.” Zayne replied without hesitation.

Lori wiped a tear from her eyes, "I'm not even leaving and I'm crying." She murmured. She'd decided to stay with her mate for a few more weeks until they concluded on their living arrangements. And whatever her decision was, I was happy for her either way.

Lastly, I hugged Nyra. "Take care of them, and don't hesitate to mindlink me if anything comes up.”

She nodded, "I will.”

After saying our goodbyes, we got into the car as Tristan started driving. My parents kept waving and I did the same until we were out of sight. Only then did I lean back in my seat and let out a breath I didn't realise I was holding.

“This week went by so fast.” I muttered.

Zayne reached out and intertwined our hands, “I know! But once you give birth, you can travel back and forth as much as you want to."

“I know." I murmured, placing my head on his chest. “Our babies are going to be so spoiled by them…so maybe not that often."

He chuckled, “I don't think your parents are the only ones we need to worry about." He said, “my sister and dad are looking forward to it too."

“So am I." Aria called from the front seat.

“Of course you are." Zayne grumbled.

I rested my hand over my stomach, smiling when one of the twins kicked.

"They're excited too," I murmured.

"See?" Zayne grinned. "That's definitely my daughters."

I rolled my eyes.

"You're never going to let that go, are you?"

"Never."

Everyone laughed, and for the rest of the journey home, the car was filled with conversations, teasing and laughter.

It felt... normal. Not the kind of normal I'd grown up with but the kind I'd always dreamed about.

I closed my eyes, a smile finding its way onto my lips.

For the first time in my life, I finally understood what it felt like to have everything I'd ever wished for.
