24. BURN THE WITCH!

JAYDA

For some reason, I didn't feel good using my powers to save the elders. I should have let them save themselves perhaps die by the sting of the Scorpion.

But still, the little boy who died because I couldn't save him with my powers still haunts me to this day. I wished I had helped him and saved him.

After that scene, I went into my room thinking about how they had run from me. They must have found out that I was a witch. There was no way, a mere wolf would freeze a scorpion. However, I felt relieved. I saved them. I didn't run away like a coward and I didn't put myself first this time. This made my heart flutter.

Back to my room, it was still scattered.

I sighed and thought of what to do. I was more pleased because I went to beat up Cassandra, there was nothing more relieving than doing that.

She had been getting on my nerves for a while now. It felt good to discipline her.

The bitch was so weak, I could beat her hands down in a battle. Kill her and have her heart dangling out of her chest. Yet, she bullies me? That bastard. I was still pissed looking at my room if she hadn't bled, I would have gone back and disciplined her more.

The next day, a knock came on my door, and I went to open up. It was the same maid whom the Alpha always sent to me. She bowed her head in respect and I smiled, telling her to rise.

“The Alpha would like you see you, ma’am” she said.

I nodded my head before shutting the door. I knew this would happen. My heart skipped a beat but I reminded myself that I did nothing wrong and I shouldn't be scared, I saved those elders life, the Alpha might be calling me to repay me for the good I did.

I walked to the bathroom and freshened up before getting dressed.

Even as I packed my hair in a bun, the thought came back. I had to remind myself again that I did nothing wrong. Although I could not tell the reason they had called me. For Cassandra or the elders? However, I knew my questions could only be answered when I got there.

When I was done, I headed to the throne room.

I was scared, scared to my bone, no matter how many times I tried to convince myself that they would appreciate me for saving the elder, I knew deep down that I was going to be questioned about Cassandra and my powers.

Eventually, I got to the throne room.

It was opened by the guards and I stepped in. Then, the moment I raised my head, I saw Cassandra’s swollen eyes looking at me disdainfully.

It dawned on immediately, I'm not here to be appreciated, it is definitely the opposite, my palms became sweaty, my heart began to palpitate and my legs grew weak instantly.

Glaring at Cassandra as I walked, I was so happy for giving her what she deserves but now I have to face the consequences. Her mouth was slightly swollen as well and her cheeks still bruised.

This made me happy but still frightened by what the Alpha would say concerning it, my mark was on her.

A mark that will always remind her never to dare me again and I wasn't one of her maids whom she could punish.

It made me feel stronger, that I didn't back down this time. I didn't let her step on me like she always did. I did that. I stood up for myself as I should.

“Good morning, Alpha Greyson” I said, bowing my head slightly.

Next to Cassandra was Daemon, and after him was his father, Greyson. Next to his father were the elders. When I looked at them, they looked away and there was a tremble. I saw them tremble.

They were still scared from yesterday’s event.

They should be happy that I saved their asses. Without me, that thing would have shattered their brains from their skull.

I felt offended.

I placed my secret on the line for them. They shouldn't be scared of me, they should be thankful. I hissed slightly and looked away, back at Alpha Greyson who was looking at me. He was probably deciding on where to start from. There were two issues in front of him.

“You beat up your Luna” I couldn't figure out if it was a question or a statement.

“I’m sorry but she is not my Luna” I answered instantly, morphing out courage to defend myself.

Cassandra was not my Luna and would never be one. This pack deserves a better Luna than Cassandra. She was nothing but a freaking dog. Cheating on Daemon and even trying to kill me?

Those behaviors could only be found in the hands of a psychopath. I thought to myself, I couldn't say it out.

Alpha Greyson paused, controlling his temper. Perhaps I was speaking too fast. I was angry as well.

“Cassandra came to my room and ruined everything, how could I let that slide?” I asked.

“She has been getting on my nerves trying to make me mad. She did this several times and I warned her. Did you except me to let it go this time? No, my anger couldn't process patience at that time” I replied, almost huffing.

“I did no such thing! She is lying to you” She shouted making me snap my eyes to her. The urge to smack her again pressed on me. Perhaps it would get her back to her senses, rather than being a manipulative psycho, she would emulate the qualities of an actual Luna.

“You really want to lie now?” I asked, glaring at her. And it was a little weird that Daemon didn't say anything. Perhaps he didn't want to take sides or he was watching all blabber on while deciding his thoughts.

“You are nothing but a liar. Why will I disorganize your room, am I a mad woman?” She asked and this made me laugh. I was right, she was a mad woman and she was even admitting it.

“See, she is a psycho” She pointed at me and looked at Daemon who said nothing.

“Cassandra is still the Luna of this pack, You should apologize, at least for peace” Daemon uttered softly without looking at me. Although he had a frown on his face.

I sighed, he was right, the more I dragged the issue, the more it had the tendency to escalate.

Normally, I should walk away but it would be disrespectful. Rather I looked at Cassandra and apologized. She smiled maniacally, sitting there like a freaking queen and that hurt my ego, at least I taught her a lesson and that was enough for me.

“But I didn't ruin your room, take that claim back” She glared at me pissing me off again and I was going to curse her as I couldn't bear her shameless anymore but Alpha Greyson interrupted me.

“You saved the elders, how did you do that?” He asked, renewing the frown on his face. I didn't know how but it got deeper and I could tell he wasn't pleased with me. The minute his question reached my ears I felt my heart sink.

“I did” I answered, feeling a bitter gall in my throat as I spoke.

The frown wasn't what I was expecting. He should be happy that I saved the group of elders. Would it have been better if they had died?

“How did you do it?” He demanded, his tone stern and authoritative.I could tell that he knew. I could tell from his expression but he wanted me to say it.

But I wouldn't fall for it.

I wouldn't say the words myself because what comes out of my mouth could be used against me.

I was more disappointed by the elders’ behavior. I had saved them yet, they acted like I was some Godzilla who would eat them alive. Perhaps I should have allowed the Scorpion to smash their skull and pick out their brains.

“I know a mere wolf cannot do that. Freeze a scorpion? Tell me who you are, Jayda” He bellowed, hot breath dashing out his nostrils.

At this time fear crawled up my body and I looked at Daemon, I didn't know why I did so.

“You are a witch!” One of the elders shouted and I turned my face to him.

I paused, my body frozen.

“I saved you, you all” I pointed, my voice a little shaky. I didn't know why I felt this way, intimidated. Anyway, I didn't like it, I felt betrayed.

“Yes but we cannot let a witch stay amongst us. I was born to kill witches, and end their miserable lives!” Alpha Greyson slammed his hand on the table and I shook.

I shouldn't shake but I did.

“I even allowed you to eat at my table, I would be damned if I tolerate you any longer. Guards!” He shouted.

The next second, two guards walked in. They were huge, bigger than I was. They could easily handle me and I couldn't fight them off. And even if I could, it would only result in more guards coming to get me.

“You can't do this to me, I saved their lives, I have been healing your pack from the scorpion, I saved all your lives ” I yelled out, fear crawling upon my face. My body was shaking tremendously and my heart at the brink of jumping out of my chest.

“Burn her alive!” Alpha Greyson growled, his eyes red and scary. He looked like a man wanting to morph into a monster.

“No” I retorted.

“No, you can't do this to me!” I extended my hand but it got nothing on the men holding me.

Burn me alive?!

No. This couldn't be happening. No.
