Chapter 87 Chapter 87: Room 110
ARIANNA’S POV
“Are you okay?” I questioned as we walked towards his car, my eyes moving over his bruised face.
“I am fine, I just need to get out of here” He let out, a smile on his face. “Give me the keys, I would drive” I stretched my hand forward as we got to his car.
He handed it to me, entering into the passenger seat. I shut the door behind him, rounding the car to enter into the driver’s seat.
I kick started the car, pulling out of the moonlight pack. I knew we should have seen the Old Alpha but with the injuries littered Lucien’s body the man would simply have a heart attack.
“You can drive slower, my wounds are healing up” Lucien stated, amusement swimming in his eyes.
His hand clutched at the handle above his head as I stepped harder on the accelerator. “They are healing too slow for my liking” I let out, weaving through cars on the road.
Up ahead the street light flashed red, I let out a little growl at the thought of waiting for the light to turn green again.
I glanced at Lucien only to see he had passed out, his pallor turning pale. Kieran had used silver. He had laced the blade and his claws with silver.
I floored the gas; the traffic controller up front squinted at the car before he started blowing his whistle indicating for the cars to move away.
I drove past the controller as she bowed slightly. This must be his official car for her to react that way.
It escaped my mind sometimes; just how powerful Lucien was. The fact that he preferred to move alone instead of been followed by an entourage made it easy to forget.
I drove down to the hospital where my doctor worked, the ride there faster due to the traffic controllers all weaving me past the traffic light.
The doctors at the ER rushed out a stroller, pulling open the door as they lifted him onto the stretcher.
I jumped out of the car, my hand resting on his as I followed him into the hospital. “Wait here, ma’am” One of the doctors said to me as they drew a curtain covering the space they strolled Lucien into.
I paced outside, rubbing my hands together. The last time silver had been used on him his body hadn’t reacted like this so why…
The curtain was drawn open, the nurses strolled Lucien out as the doctor called out something about an OR.
“What is going on?” I asked one of the nurses, my eyes scanning Lucien’s pale face. “We need to operate on him immediately” She stated simply, her tone urgent.
I stopped at the door to the OR, watching as they rolled Lucien in. Was there something else wrong with him?
Did Kieran manage to pull another trick I wasn’t aware of? Questions slammed into me as I blinked back tears that were threatening to roll down my cheeks.
Minutes turned to hours and yet nobody had stepped out of the OR Lucien was in. I rubbed at my eyes when my alarm rang out.
It was time for my appointment already. I reluctantly stood up, heading into the elevator going to the floor where my doctor’s office was.
I swallowed as I knocked on the door of her office, anxiety rumbling within me. “Come in” she said.
“Good evening, Attorney Arianna” She offered me, a smile on her face. “Good evening, doctor” I replied, settling into one of the seats before her.
“With all you have told me, it would be best if you have an ultrasound test” She suggested, her pen scribbling into her note pad.
“I would do that” I respond, my eyes flickering down to check what the time says on my phone. It was already late, I hope they were through with Lucien’s surgery.
I laid onto the flat bed in her office, my abdomen exposed. I stared at the ceiling, my hands trembling.
“This might feel cold” She let out as she squeezed a blue gel-like substance on me. The cold bite to it made me wince slightly.
“Sorry” She offered as she placed the probe on my abdomen, pressing down slightly. My hands fisted the bed spread, wondering if there was a pup within me or not.
“We are done” She let out, wiping at my belly with some tissue. I heaved out a breath, my body thrumming with the need to find out if Lucien was out.
I poked at our bond, the silence there not helping. “I want to see someone downstairs, I would be right back” I said to my doctor as I hopped down the bed.
I was really curious to what my test results would say but I need to ensure the first person I would want to share my news with was fine and alive.
On getting to the OR, the in-surgery light was off. I went to the reception area, wondering which room they had placed Lucien in.
“He is in room 110, it is on the VIP floor” She disclosed, earning a small smile from me before I entered into the elevator.
My heart pounded with each ascent the elevator took. The moment the elevator pinged open, I flew out.
My eyes fly by the door until it caught the room number I wanted. I pushed the door open, my eyes snagging on the man who laid on the bed.
A sob tore through my lips as I sat down on the chair beside his bed. My tears rolled down my cheeks, dripping onto his hand I held.
“Please open your eyes, I need you” I cried out, a hiccup breaking my sentences. The image of him lying flat on the stretcher, unmoving was one I wished I could erase from my memory.
“Don’t cry, your eyes would get swollen” He rasped out, making me snap my head up to his face. I cried harder, my lips pressing into the back of his hand.
“Thank you for coming back to me” I whispered to him, a smile playing on my lips as he wiped away my tears.
Now, I had just one more business to handle in the hospital.
