Chapter 84 Chapter 84: The Worse Case Scenario
ARIANNA’S POV

“Hello? Lucien?!” I yelled into the call as he hung up on me. My body went cold then hot. “What was going on where he was?” I mumbled out, my hands trembling.

The cry of pain I had heard from the call sounded like someone had been stabbed. I sat into my chair, my body feeling weak all of a sudden.

There was nothing I could do but wait. I would do that in his apartment; I decided walking out of my office.

I walked hurriedly into the elevator, my eyes scanning the firm’s space. I had been caught off guard last time.

I would make sure that didn’t happen again. Immediately I stepped into my car I zoomed off, leaving the firm behind.

The thought of him been injured made me clench the stirring wheel harder. I got to his building, offering a greeting to him as I entered the elevator to his apartment.

And I had thought Lyra’s presence in my office had been the worst experience of my day. I pushed open the door to his apartment once the keypad beeped open.

I shed off my clothes, worry tearing my insides apart. I wore one of his shirts, his scent on it calming me down slightly.

Several images played in my head as I paced the length of his living room. What if they abducted him? Was he injured?

Time sped away, soon it was dark. I called his number multiple times, only to be hit with the automated response of the number been unavailable.

I curled on one of the sofas in the living room, my eyes feeling heavy. I refused to cry, I knew Lucien was a fighter.

He would come back to me. The beeping of the door had me sitting up on the sofa immediately, the blurriness of my eyes indicating I had dozed off.

I rushed towards the door has it opened, my heart in my throat. “Hey, Darling” I let out a gasp as I saw Lucien’s bloodied form.

“W-We need to get you to the hospital” I choked out, blinking back the tears that threatened to fall from my eyes.

“Slow down, I am fine” He assured me, his hand ushering me further into his apartment. “But you are…you are covered in blood, that hardly seems like you are fine” I argued as he sat down on the sofa in his living room.

I moved to his room, grabbing the first aid kit that was in his bathroom. “Most of it doesn’t belong to me” He let out, wincing as I peeled away his shirt.

I swallowed against the lump in my throat as I wore the pair of latex gloves within the box. I removed the shiny object that gleamed within the injury.

Judging from the way the wound wasn’t healing, it was silver. I bit back a whimper as I pulled it out, a low groan slipping out from him.

“Sorry, it’s out already” I reassured him, my voice shaky. I wrapped the silver up with a wad of cotton wool, setting it aside as I cleaned through the surface of the wound.

“Thanks, baby” He rasped out, causing me to raise my eyes to meet his. My lips trembled as he pulled me into him, tears spilling down my cheeks as I buried my face into his neck.

“It’s okay, love. I am here now” He whispered into my ear, his hand rubbing soothingly into my back.

I cried harder, my hands fisting his bloodied shirt. “You aren’t allowed to die” I projected through our bond.

“I would try my best even though that is the natural end to a being” He responded, his tone gruff. I hit him at his side with my elbow as I sniffled.

He let out a huff, his hands wrapping tighter around me. “It was just a joke, love”

“I don’t appreciate such jokes” I shot back at him, my voice muffled by his shirt. Even though what he said was true, the thought of losing him made my insides curdle up.

I pushed away from his embrace, looking into his face. “I love you” I declared, watching as his eyes darkened with the promise.

“I love you too, Ari” He responded, his eyes peering into mine as he lowered his head towards me. I pressed a hand against his forehead, wrinkling my nose.

“I wouldn’t allow you to put your hands on me while you are covered with blood” A smirk ticked up his lips then, my eyes dropping to them.

“Is that right?” He rasped out, his hands pulling me onto him. I let out a gasp, the smell of copper making my nostrils twitch.

“You need to take a shower first” I declared, my pulse speeding up as he wrapped his hand loosely around my throat.

My eyes went glossy at the slightly pressure he held my neck with. “You like that, don’t you?” He asked, his mouth sucking at my scent spot.

I let out a moan in response, my eyes slipping shut with desire. “Answer me, Ari” He growled out, his hand tightening slightly.

“Take me into the room” I whispered into his ear. He lifted me into his arms as he stood to his feet, his eyes peering into mine as he carried me into the room.

His lips fused with mine, my hands pushing into his hair despite the slightly resistance I met along the way.

I poured my worry and love into the kiss, my fingers tugging his hair slightly. He slammed the door to the room shut, my back landing against the door with a slightly thud.

Without breaking the kiss, I worked the buttons of his shirt loose, my hands pushing the fabric off his broad shoulders.

He broke the kiss, his muscles rippling as he carried me into the bathroom. “You are right, I should clean up before I touch you” He whispered, his eyes pinned to my lips as he set my down onto my feet.
