Chapter 165: A pending task
Olivia
From the moment I woke up, I knew that this would be the most important day of my life. The air was charged with a special energy, as if the city itself was celebrating with me. The women of the pack surrounded me and prepared me with a mixture of joy and awe.
"The first human Luna," they kept saying, their warm smiles and expectant looks filled with meaning. "This will change so much for the world of wolves." I was aware of the significance of these words. Being a Luna was already a big responsibility, but being the first human to hold this role was incomprehensible. I didn’t know if I would be worthy, but one thing was certain — I would do everything in my power to honor this pack that was now my family.
As I walked through the garden, adorned with white and wildflowers, golden torchlight illuminated the stone path leading me to him. Then, I saw him. He wore a dark gray suit that accentuated his imposing figure and piercing eyes. The contrast between his skin and the crisp white shirt beneath the jacket made him look even more breathtaking—if that was even possible. He was the most beautiful man I had ever seen, and now he was mine.
"For the Goddess, Olivia, don’t cry," I told myself as I walked forward, feeling an overwhelming, pure happiness. The ceremony was like a dream. The sacred words resonated in the night air, and when our hands joined, I felt something beyond emotion—a power surging through my veins, anchoring me not just to Christopher but to the entire city. It was as if an invisible connection suddenly linked me to every single member of the pack. It was something big, something powerful. I wished my parents were here, but deep down, I knew they were there, in spirit. Chris continued to stare at the ring on his hand, his expression full of emotion. Now they were more than just lucky charms, they were symbols of happiness. The celebrations began soon after. The tables were decorated with floating candles and fairy lights hanging between the trees. There was music, food and laughter. It was as if the whole world was celebrating not only our union but also the new era that was beginning for our pack.
"Come, dance with me," Christopher whispered, his smile sending my heart racing as it always did. I took his hand, and we moved across the improvised dance floor in the garden. The soft music enveloped us as we twirled under the moonlit sky. I felt light, free, loved. For the first time in a long while, I felt like I truly belonged to something greater. I had been an orphan for so long, had lost so much… but now, in this place, with Christopher and our pack, I had a family again. After hours of celebration, Christopher approached me with a mischievous look on his face.
"It’s time for our honeymoon," he said in a mysterious tone.
"Where are we going?" He smiled but didn’t give much away.
"You’ll find out tomorrow. But tonight, I want to take you somewhere special."
"Hey! Leaving so soon?"
Some guests teased, "Already abandoning us?" Laughing, we said our goodbyes to our friends and the pack before getting into the car. Christopher took the wheel, and we drove away from the city, deep into the forest. Through the window, I watched the towering trees sway under the silvery moonlight. The road wound through the hills, and with every passing mile, the world became quieter and more magical. The sky was clear, an endless stretch of twinkling stars above us.
After a while, Christopher took a turn onto a side road, and we began ascending a mountain. The breeze was cool, carrying the scent of pine and damp earth. Finally, we arrived at a clearing where several wooden cabins stood, beautifully built and surrounded by nature. Warm lanterns lit the stone pathways, and from where I stood, I could see the reflection of a nearby lake. The place was breathtaking.
"This is part of the Silver Claw pack’s territory," Christopher explained as he stepped out of the car and opened my door. "I’ve always wanted to bring you here." I smiled at him, awestruck by the beauty of the place. The moon shone brightly above us, casting an almost ethereal glow over the forest. Christopher watched me intently.
"Are you tired?" I shook my head with a playful smile. How could I explain to him that all I wanted was to be with him? So much had happened, and we hadn’t had a single moment alone, that I needed him. His gaze darkened with desire, and in one swift motion, he lifted me into his arms. I let out a laugh, clinging to his neck as he carried me toward the cabin.
"Chris… this is perfect," I whispered as he showed me the small living room, the fireplace, the large bathroom, and the spacious bed. The look in his eyes told me everything, and I moved closer to kiss him. He claimed my lips with urgency, holding me in his arms, but suddenly, he stopped, leaving me surprised.
"There’s something I want you to see… if you agree."
"Okay…" I said, confused, and was even more astonished when he led me outside. There, beyond the mountains, was a small tent decorated with cushions, flowers, and soft lights. It was a dream.
"I don’t know how you keep making everything better and better," I said, and he laughed.
"You see, ancient wolves spent their first night with their mate beneath the open sky," he explained, setting me down as we gazed at the moon. Now, he was looking at me in a way that took my breath away, and I knew this was our moment.
"This night is important. I want to mark you, but… if you don’t want to, I..." he murmured, gently stroking my neck.
"I do," I answered, but then something else crossed my mind. "But there’s one thing left to do first." Now he was the confused one. "Trent, your wolf. I want to meet him. We didn’t get the best introduction. I think we owe each other a real moment." He let out a relieved sigh.
"He’s… thrilled. He thought he couldn’t love you more, but after hearing that…" he said, his voice full of emotion. Then, I watched as Christopher slowly undressed, letting me admire his body. His long legs, his broad, sculpted chest… those impossibly defined abs. By the time he reached his underwear, I felt like I was melting, and in the blink of an eye, he shifted into a wolf.
"Oh, my God…" I breathed as the magnificent creature cautiously approached me, as if afraid to startle me. He was huge, breathtaking, his fur a deep, dark gray, and his eyes… they were my love’s eyes. "Hello, Trent… you’re magnificent," I whispered, leaning down, and the wolf seemed to smile. He pressed against me, licking my hands. He was so excited! I ran with him, kicking off my shoes before tumbling onto the grass. He pounced on me, licking my face as I laughed, utterly happy.
"I hope we keep seeing each other and getting to know one another. But I think… I already love you," I said as he sprawled over me, almost purring. We lay there, gazing at the moon, and before I knew it, Christopher was carrying me back to the cushions.
"I’ve never heard my wolf this happy. Thank you, mate," he confessed as he unraveled my hair, brushed away the leaves tangled in it, and slowly began removing my dress, his hands tracing every inch of my body.
