Chapter 393 Adoption

Chapter 393 Adoption

Making pour-over coffee is such a hard task.. Amelia quickly told her not to bother about it.

But Marlowe was really excited and enthusiastically recommended the new skill she had learned.

Amelia had no choice but to let her get on with it.

Soon the coffee was served. Amelia took a sip and nodded, "It tastes really good. Not much acidity, and it has a strong nutty flavor - exactly the taste I like."

"Then I'll pack some coffee beans for you to take home."

Amelia nodded, "Okay."

Samuel also tried the coffee but didn't have much of a reaction.

He wasn't much of a coffee person.

But in front of Marlowe, he still acted like the coffee was great.

After some small talk, the two of them weren't sure how to bring up Sharon's situation.

After all, Edward's "betrayal" had really hit Marlowe hard.

She had even thought about using her own life to make up for Edward's mistakes.

But unexpectedly, Marlowe spoke first.

Marlowe said, "Amelia, Samuel, there's something I want to talk to you about and get your opinion on."

"Please go ahead."

"Amelia," Marlowe's gaze focused mainly on Amelia.

She knew they were a loving couple, and Samuel listened to Amelia on many things.

So she directed her words mainly at Amelia.

"When I went to the hospital to see Felix yesterday, your mother mentioned Sharon to me. What a poor child."

Amelia and Samuel exchanged glances, already guessing what Marlowe wanted to say.

They were both thrilled inside, but neither of them showed their emotions easily, so their expressions remained calm.

Marlowe continued, "I was thinking, could I step forward and adopt Sharon? After all, what happened to her was caused by me. If I hadn't adopted Edward back then, the wedding incident wouldn't have happened, Sharon wouldn't have been taken away by Bloody Syndicate to suffer, and she wouldn't have fought with her parents and become distant from them."

Sometimes Marlowe didn't speak nicely, but deep down she was just like Natalie, a very kind person.

kind people always like to find faults within themseves.
Amelia first tried to comfort her.

"Without Edward, the Bloody Syndicate incident would have happened anyway."

"He didn't work with Bloody Syndicate from the inside. He just happened to buy guns from them and we've already confirmed this."

"That day, all the coincidences just happened to come together at once."

"We're all back safe now, so please don't blame yourself anymore."

She added, "Actually, we came here today to talk to you and about Sharon too."

Marlowe looked very surprised.
Amelia then explained everything in detail, including more about Sharon's experiences that Natalie didn't know about.

Marlowe's eyes turned red as she listened.

Not from sadness, but from anger.

"How can there be such parents in this world? For a little praise from their drinking buddies, they actually made their child drink alcohol! At their age, when they're still growing, how can they be exposed to so much alcohol? Over time, the child will become stupid!"

Amelia sighed.

Setting aside whether there's scientific evidence that children drinking alcohol makes them stupid, normal parents simply wouldn't do something like making their child perform by drinking.

"So we were also thinking, could you adopt Sharon?"

Amelia returned to the main topic. Marlowe said without hesitation, "I'm willing!"

Whether it was to make amends, or because she felt sorry for Sharon, or because she wanted to adopt a child to keep her company.

The reason didn't matter. The point was, she was very willing to adopt Sharon.

She would also treat Sharon sincerely, just like her own child.

"I once..." Marlowe said with a slight choke in her voice, talking about her past.

It turned out she hadn't always been against marriage.

It was because she had suffered a very painful heartbreak.

The man not only cheated but also mentally controlled her for a long time.

Marlowe finally broke up with him because that man actually wanted to openly have another woman live with them.

In other words, he wanted to marry two wives.

At that time, Marlowe was already pregnant and preparing for marriage.

"Thankfully I still had a shred of sanity left. I broke up with him and terminated the pregnancy. That's been my lifelong pain."

She added, "I checked - it was a girl."

Originally, because she didn't want to recall that past, she specifically chose to adopt a boy from the orphanage.

Who would have thought that by some twist of fate, heaven still sent her a daughter in the end.

"Maybe Sharon was sent to me by heaven."

Amelia didn't know how to comfort her, but seeing that Marlowe's eyes showed more anger than sadness, she decided not to say much.

She had completely moved on from the past.

She just didn't want to believe in love anymore.

"So starting today, you'll go to the hospital to care for Sharon and build a relationship with her?"

"Yes, that was exactly my plan. I just didn't expect you to come looking for me too."

Both parties reached an agreement and arranged things accordingly.

That afternoon, after Amelia and Samuel left, Marlowe went to the hospital.

After visiting Felix, she went to take care of Sharon.

Everone had worried that Marlowe, who had never raised a child before , wouldn't know how to take care of one. Unexpectedly, though, she cared for Sharon with ease.

Compared to Sophia, Sharon liked Marlowe more.

Besides Marlowe being from Phoenicia , made her feel closer.and gave them more to talk about, Sharon also thought Marlowe was beautiful.

Children care about appearances too and like people who look better.

As for Sophia, Amelia gave her a bonus as extra payment for taking care of Sharon.

Sophia was also happy and went back to the villa to work with the money.

Now that Felix and Sharon both had trustworthy people taking care of them, Amelia and Samuel had free time.

The two of them had been busy with the wedding before and hadn't really explored the island.

Now they had plenty of time.

They planned to return to Phoenicia on July 15th.

Counting it out, they still had over half a month to enjoy themselves.

So over the next few days, after Amelia's period ended, Samuel taught Amelia to snorkel and surf.

Snorkeling was easy to learn, but surfing was much harder.

Amelia was good at things on land, but lacked skills for the sea.

But Samuel was a good teacher. Within a week, Amelia had learned to surf.

She had great balance. The surfboard under her feet was like skateboarding on land.

After that, whenever they had time, they went out to sea to fish.

The fish they caught were sorted one by one and used for dinner.

The half month passed in a flash.

Felix and Sharon were ready to be discharged from the hospital.

But they both had pins in their bones, so they still had to be careful not to do strenuous activities.

They would have to wait a year for the bones to heal and the pins to be removed before they'd be fully recovered.

On the day they were preparing to leave the hospital, Amelia and Samuel went to the hospital to talk to Sharon about something important.
