Chapter 114 Changing One's Appearance
Amelia's dazzlingly fast movements weren't showing off—she was racing against death to save a life.
When you're racing against death, you have to move fast.
Every moment of delay could put the child's life in danger.
Finally, all the necessary acupuncture points were filled with silver needles. The boy's head looked like a porcupine—quite a frightening sight.
The crowd began doubting Amelia's medical skills again.
"Can this really work? It looks like she's just randomly sticking needles in."
"What if she's some kind of psycho? Or taking revenge on society?"
"I've never seen anyone stick needles in someone's head. Isn't this a joke?"
Some people spoke up: "I've had this kind of treatment before. Stop scaring this lady. I think this doctor's technique is pretty good."
"Exactly. With so many people around, would she dare hurt anyone? If you can't help, stop stirring things up."
Amelia still paid no attention to what they were saying. After inserting the last needle, she took a pill from a medicine bottle she carried with her, removed the silk scarf from the boy's mouth, and put the pill in.
Her hands were skillful, practiced even. With just a lift of the boy's jaw, he swallowed the pill.
After finishing all this, she stood up.
At that moment, the boy stopped convulsing, though he still hadn't woken up.
The boy's mother asked with red eyes, "How long until my son wakes up?"
"Hard to say."
Seeing the mother's eyes well up with tears again, Amelia quickly added, "But don't worry, he's out of danger now."
Only then did the woman regain her normal breathing. She grabbed Amelia's hand to thank her.
Ten minutes passed, and Amelia removed the needles.
The ambulance arrived at that moment.
The paramedics examined the boy on the spot and told the woman, "Lucky you handled this so quickly. The child is out of danger, but we need to take him to the hospital for more detailed tests. Come with us in the ambulance."
The woman nodded and turned to thank Amelia again.
From what the doctor said, she could tell that Amelia's treatment had saved her son's life.
She was so glad she had trusted Amelia and let her treat her son first.
"No need to thank me."
"What's your name? When my child gets better, can I bring him to thank you?"
"Amelia. But there's no need for thanks. It was nothing. You should get in the ambulance now."
With that, Amelia turned and walked away.
"This is a small token of gratitude, please accept it." The woman hadn't even fully pulled out the check in her hand when she looked up and Amelia had disappeared.
Strange—she was right there just a moment ago.
The woman wanted to look for Amelia, but the paramedics were already urging her, so she had no choice but to get in the ambulance.
At least she remembered Amelia's name. She could have her husband look into it and find her.
Today she had spontaneously decided to have some mother-son time with her child and hadn't brought bodyguards along.
She never expected something like this to happen. Thank goodness for Amelia.
She would repay her.
……
Amelia didn't dwell on what had just happened.
To her, it was just a ten-minute delay.
Lyndon's call came through, his tone worried.
"Blaze, why aren't you here yet? Should I come pick you up?"
He had deliberately chosen a restaurant close to Amelia to make it convenient for her, but she still hadn't arrived after more than ten minutes.
"I'm at the door now." Amelia didn't mention the small incident.
It was too minor to be worth mentioning.
Just like when she had saved Lyndon—it had really just been a simple gesture.
But Lyndon kept it close to his heart.
As soon as the call ended, Lyndon ran out of the restaurant with that ingratiating smile on his face.
Lyndon looked quite fierce and had a full beard—this smile didn't suit him at all.
"Blaze!"
Amelia nodded slightly and followed Lyndon into a private room.
Besides Lyndon, the room contained Roy, who had offended her last time, and several of Lyndon's other trusted subordinates.
But Roy was now completely convinced by Amelia and respectfully came forward to greet her.
"Blaze."
The others were all very polite too.
Amelia nodded again.
Lyndon introduced them, then sent them to eat in the adjacent private room.
If Amelia had taken the initiative to find him, she must have something important to discuss.
But he wasn't in a hurry. He waited until Amelia had almost finished eating before asking, "Blaze, is there anything you need me to do?"
Amelia put down her utensils, wiped the corners of her mouth with a napkin, and spoke deliberately, "Last time you told me you wanted Iron Fist Mafia to join us?"
Lyndon's heart jumped, and he stood up excitedly.
"Yes! I want to, very much. I wasn't qualified to join Shadow Operations Division before, but I've grown a lot now. If Blaze doesn't mind."
Amelia raised her hand to stop him.
"I don't mind, but it's not you joining Shadow Operations Division—it's Shadow Operations Division joining you. Will you agree to that?"
Lyndon was confused.
"Shadow Operations Division joining me—what does that mean?"
Amelia explained the situation roughly.
Shadow Operations Division's reputation was too big, and they were being watched too closely.
With Shadow Operations Division moving to Goldenvale, she wanted to change their appearance and have Shadow Operations Division operate under Iron Fist Mafia's name.
Iron Fist Mafia wasn't well-known. In the vast Goldenvale, it was like a small pebble dropped in the ocean—not even making a splash.
With Iron Fist Mafia as cover, Shadow Operations Division wouldn't be watched, and they could do anything conveniently.
Lyndon understood, his face growing even more excited.
"I'm willing!"
Amelia reminded him, "Don't agree so quickly. Shadow Operations Division operating under Iron Fist Mafia's name might bring you and Iron Fist Mafia a lot of trouble. You can think it over carefully before answering me. Even if you refuse, it's fine—you don't need to force yourself out of gratitude."
"I know." Lyndon nodded, but repeated, "I'm willing."
No need to think about it.
He couldn't ask for more.
Being able to contribute to Amelia and Shadow Operations Division would be his honor.
"You've really thought this through?"
"I have."
Seeing his determination, Amelia stopped asking him to reconsider.
She needed someone trustworthy like this to help her, to help Shadow Operations Division.
Shadow Operations Division was indeed powerful, but they couldn't avoid the government.
She had never wanted to fight with government officials, so she was willing to let Shadow Operations Division lie low, change its appearance, and continue to survive that way.
"Since you've made up your mind, then it's settled. But before that, Iron Fist Mafia must destroy all illegal operations. Shadow Operations Division never does anything illegal, so Iron Fist Mafia must be the same—keep everything clean and above board, so no one can find fault. Otherwise, Iron Fist Mafia will quickly become the next Combat Arts Association."
"I understand. I'll take care of it as soon as I get back."
"Good. Come find me once you've cleaned everything up."
"Yes!"
The meal left Amelia very satisfied.
She packed up two dishes she found delicious to take back to The Richardson Manor.
Natalie's health was improving day by day. Right now she was playing badminton with Lucas.
Grant was cheering from the side. "Lucas, you're no good either—you can't even beat Mom."
Lucas was about to respond when he caught sight of Amelia out of the corner of his eye, and his eyes immediately lit up.
"Amelia's back."
