Edna

Two weeks passed by. Those two weeks felt like eternity. Killian had been unconscious for the entirety of that time. To numb myself and keep my worries at bay, I dealt with the aftermath of the human-alien traitors alliance in my spare time.

With the help of the imperial guards and other forces under Killian's control, I tried my best to find any remaining human and alien traitors.

I had mostly succeeded with this. Although I knew that there might still be other human and alien traitors out there, I felt like their numbers were probably on the low side. I still have time.

The plan to eradicate them would be complete soon. As for the fate of the human city, I chose a milder approach. I didn't send humanity packing.

I put a few imperial guards as the supervisors of the city. I didn't feel bad with letting aliens supervise my race.

I know there is still the risk of the imperial supervisors turning out to be corrupt. That was a risk I was willing to take. I would keep checking on those supervisors and I would keep an eye on the human city.

If humans prove to be trustworthy and responsible in the long run, I would take those supervisors away.

Today, as usual, I was in Killian's ward room. His ward room was the one that I had stayed in during my illness.

I was sitting on a chair close to the bed. My eyes scanned Killian's face over and over. Dark circles were under his eyes and he had lost some flesh.

According to the doctors that were in charge of his health, the thing that burrowed into Killian's body was very dangerous.

If I had been the one that got injured at that time, my chance of surviving would be extremely slim.

Killian's two weeks coma was a way for him to break down the strange weapon and recover his normal functions.

Even when I knew things weren't heading in the worst direction, I was still worried about Killian.

Killian's eyelashes trembled.

Since my focus was on his face, I noticed his movements the moment it happened.

His eyelashes didn't stop trembling. It looked like he was trying to wake up.

After a while, Killian opened his eyes. Joy surged through my heart.

I left the chair and sat at the edge of the bed.

"You a-are awake." Tears dripped from my eyes and my voice shook.

Killian looked at me blankly for a while.

The joy I was feeling reduced a little. My heart was racing.

Was something wrong? Did something affect his recovery?

The doctors said he would be fine. What is going on now? A strange cold assaulted my body.

"Killian, are you okay? Are you feeling pain anywhere?" I questioned rapidly.

Suddenly, Killian sat up.

Killian's hands wrapped around me. His hug was tight.

The strength he displayed seemed strange since he had been in a coma for some time. Although he was using his coma to recover, his overwhelming strength was still strange.

Maybe his alien physique contributed to this strange phenomenon.

I wrapped my hands around him. I didn't ask him to release me. I suppressed the urge to repeat my caring questions.

I could see that something might be wrong with Killian emotionally.

Killian's head was at the crook of my neck. Suddenly, drops of hot liquid landed in the exposed area of my neck.

My brain flashed through the possibilities of what that hot liquid might be. There is a high chance that the liquid dropping on me were tears.

"Are you okay?" I asked again.

I was patting his back.

Killian finally pulled himself together. He released me from his tight hold and I stopped wrapping my hands around him.

"Thank the heavens. I am so grateful." Killian's words were incomprehensible.

I raised a brow.

Before I could ask the question lingering on my mind, Killian started explaining.

He began, "I had a dream."

My heart finally settled down and I looked at him with concern coloring my eyes, "That dream must have been a nightmare for you to react this way."

Killian sigh, "It is more than a nightmare. It feels like some kind of future prediction."

"What happened in the dream?" I was curious.

"In the dream, I sustained the same injury at the same area near the laboratory. After waking up, something had changed. The Killian in my dream had lost his memory but I still retained mine. I seemed to be trapped in that body. I couldn't do anything. Sometimes, I could see things in the dream that I shouldn't have be able to as 'Killian'. I was following two perspectives in the dream. One is Killian's perspective and the other is a deity's encompassing perspective." Killian explained.

My eyes were trained on Killian. I listened carefully.

"That Killian treated you badly." Killian continued, "I watched and experienced how that body did things that hurt you. Edna, I broke my promise to you.”
