Chapter 200
Edna
Miranda had gotten a superpower. Her superpower was of the metallic type. She turned her two hands into long swords.
Her pale face was covered in droplets of blood and sweat. Her venomous eyes suddenly settled on me. She started to rush toward me like she had gone mad.
Every person on her way was slashed with her swords. She didn't care if those people were humans, aliens or the imperial guards we brought.
Soon, she arrived before me.
"Edna." She spat my name like it was burning her tongue.
"Miranda." I said in a neutral voice.
"Are you feeling smug because your people are winning?" Miranda asked.
"I didn't tell you that I am feeling smug. You came to that conclusion all on your own." I responded.
"I really hate you." Miranda began as she continued to take steps in my direction, "Firstly, instead of helping humans secure more benefits, you chose to stand by. Secondly, you are just annoying. If I knew that you would turn out to be such a thorn in my side, I would have eliminated you on the spaceship."
I didn't respond. I had no reply for her words.
I just prepared myself for a fight that would happen any second now.
"Heaven wasn't on our side. I wish things had gone smoothly. I wish that stupid Mangas hadn't confessed foolishly. We would have gotten more chances to get rid of the cancerous tumors that you and your husband are." Miranda said.
Everything began to make sense. I had already suspected that the ambush that happened to me might be a small test. Now, Miranda's words are basically confirming my guesses.
If Mangas, the female assassin that told the truth, didn't spill the beans, the traitorous human—alien alliance would have kept sending assassins to take my life.
Even if Mangas did not confess, their plan would not have gone smoothly. After I saw humans among the dead assassins' bodies, I already suspected that the human government was up to something again.
I would have been more cautious and the chance of dying to their machinations would reduce drastically.
I thought Miranda was smart. If I could think of this, she should be able to do it too. There was no way Killian and I would fall into their hands.
"You're getting something wrong, Miranda. You guys are the cancerous tumors. You guys kept letting your greed take control." I responded.
The moment the last word dropped from my lips, Miranda's eyes became bloodshot.
Within a split second, she launched herself at me. The two of us exchanged numerous blows. None of us relaxed for even a second.
As time went by, Miranda started to make more mistakes. The implanted power that she had was fake after all. I spotted an opening. My vines rushed into her body through the injury I targeted. Because of Miranda's blood and flesh, the vines reproduce rapidly.
My opponent's struggles started to cease.
"Die." Miranda said in a low voice.
Her eyes were red with hatred.
Before she could say another thing, red vines popped out of her eye sockets and every other open holes.
Finally, Miranda slumped to the ground. I was breathing heavily.
I surveyed the battlefield again, only a small number of the traitorous humans and aliens remain.
Suddenly, Ga began to laugh like a maniac. Her eyes were fixed on me.
Something tells me that she might have witnessed Miranda's ruin. Her eyes were filled with the same hatred that colored Miranda's eyes before she died. I don't know why these people jumped right into hating me because of my refusal to give in to their greed.
Ga had been implanted with a superpower too. Her superpower was similar to mine.
