Chapter 35 Asking a Friend for a Live Recording Video

Chapter 35 Asking a Friend for a Live Recording Video

Rhys was really starting to panic now.

Because he had witnessed the whole thing. Louis used to be the general manager of the company's procurement department, but after that incident, he ended up in his current situation.

Procurement manager - now that was a really cushy job.

Not to mention this was the procurement department general manager of the Brown Group!

Thinking of this, Rhys said, "Mr. Brown, should we add some bodyguards?"

"And what about Ms. Taylor - should we give her a heads up too?"

William rubbed his temples, then nodded, telling Rhys to handle it.

Louis.

A flash of cold murderous intent crossed William's eyes.

He would absolutely not let him get away with this!

...

The hospital.

Amelia had already removed her makeup and was lying down again.

Mia came over to see her when she had a moment.

"Amelia, you were absolutely amazing!" Mia said, holding Amelia's arm with a smile. "The stage was absolutely explosive!"

"Was it really that dramatic?" Amelia looked at Mia, finding her exaggerated expression amusing. She said, "I suspect you just like me too much."

"Not at all!"

Mia completely disagreed, snuggling up against Amelia.

"We grew up together - don't I know what you're capable of?"

"I wasn't watching some censored clip version online. I have a friend working as staff there, and I had her live stream it to my phone. It's just a shame the production team didn't record it - I don't know if she saved it on her end."

Mia got more and more excited as she talked.

"When I was still fooling around following Dash, you were already seriously practicing piano. Later you became proficient in multiple instruments!"

"And that was just your hobby. Mr. Martinez was always training you as the future heir. Back then..."

At this point, Mia stopped.

Amelia's smile paused slightly, but her expression didn't really change.

Jasper had always been her sore spot. All the changes started with her father's death.

"Amelia." Mia squeezed her hand tightly.

Seeing Mia's worried expression, Amelia came back to herself and said, "Mia, you don't need to be so careful. I'm not that fragile, and besides, that was all a long time ago."

"I'm doing pretty well now, aren't I?" Amelia said, squeezing Mia's hand back firmly.

Seeing that Amelia's expression didn't seem fake, Mia finally breathed a sigh of relief.

After hesitating for a moment, Mia spoke again: "What about... her? What's the situation now?"

Amelia looked up at Mia, seeing the carefulness in her eyes.

Between the two of them, there was only one person they would mention with such careful tones.

Her mother, Beatrix.

After Jasper passed away, many vultures wanted to take a bite out of the two of them.

Although William had put out word that he would protect her and had the Brown Group's people take over and manage what remained of the Martinez family's assets, they still didn't have it easy.

Beatrix had been a charming and beautiful woman in her early years, once stunning the entire Shadow City elite circle with a single dance.

But later...

Later she got tired, and she got old.

She wanted to find someone to lean on.

So she went with her stepfather.

"Amelia..." Mia's concerned voice came through.

"We haven't been in touch recently." Amelia pretended to look at the TV screen beside her and said, "Last time we met, I gave her some money. I heard she opened a small shop - she should be... doing okay."

Actually, Amelia knew that later on, Beatrix's feelings toward her became complicated.

Especially because of that incident.

Mia's sigh came through. "Actually, maybe it's better not to bother each other."

"Yes." Amelia agreed.

Perhaps so.

Amelia looked at the TV, which was broadcasting the latest weather forecast.

"Latest news from our reporters - there's expected to be another heavy rainstorm tonight. Please take precautions and bring rain gear..."

Mia beside her was muttering about what a pain the journey home would be tonight.

Amelia said with a smile, "Why don't I give you half my bed so you can lie down - just don't go back tonight."

When they were little, they often used to lie down together.

Mia rolled her eyes at her: "No way. If I bump into your injuries, someone will beat me up."

Amelia smiled and didn't respond.

She knew Mia was talking about Dash.

Last time Mia kept saying she would give Dash to her as compensation, but she didn't want to think about all that right now.

She still had many things to do.

Six days ago, when she and William went to the marriage registry to process the paperwork, she had calculated something in that property division agreement she handed to William.

It basically stated that what was under her name was hers, and she would take those things with her.

William had wanted to remarry after six months anyway, plus she had deliberately provoked him that day, so he had only glanced at the agreement.

So he didn't look carefully enough to see that among those things, besides several very specific items, there was also "other things originally under Amelia's name."

That meant things that once belonged to the Martinez family and were later taken over by the Brown Group.

Jasper's old subordinates - she had to get them back.

Although most had already changed hands.

Amelia knew that because it was written vaguely, if William was willing to let go, everything would be fine. But if he wasn't willing, then negotiation would be needed.

She had always been managing that department, and it had little connection to the Brown Group. She believed that with a reasonable price, she could take it over.

If not, she could still use that contract to sue over the disputed parts.

That way, even if she couldn't gather everything, she could at least get some of it back.

For this.

She needed a large sum of money.

Given William's intelligence and ability in the business world, the opportunity she could seize was only this once.

So "Voice of Heaven" - she had to win it!

This was a springboard - high enough exposure and buzz, professional enough musical credentials, works that could break through - all of these could make her commercial value explode.

And the income after that would be obvious.

Even if William wanted to suppress her, she could go through other channels. At least Jeffrey was on her side.

But... would William really go that far?

Amelia lowered her eyes slightly.

What flashed before her eyes was William's guarded look toward her when he was protecting Isabella.

She couldn't be sure.

So she could only prepare for the worst.

She knew Jeffrey had bet everything.

Jeffrey's two older brothers had come of age many years before him, and their influence within the Adams Group had long been deeply entrenched. Jeffrey was at a disadvantage being younger, and his situation was difficult.

As his father grew older and had been frequently ill recently, the internal power struggle among the three sons of the Adams family had reached a fever pitch.

If Jeffrey could rise up with her this time, mutually achieving success, perhaps he could break this deadlock.

Allowing Jeffrey to gain more benefits.

Thinking of this, Amelia looked toward Mia, who was holding the remote and constantly changing channels.

Amelia said, "Mia, that friend you mentioned who live-streamed for you - could you help me contact her?"

Mia was still changing channels, unable to find a program she wanted to watch.

She said absentmindedly, "Sure, what do you need her for?"

Amelia looked at the images on the TV and said softly, "I want to get the content she recorded."
