Chapter 319 Offering Everything He Has with Both Hands
Chapter 319 Offering Everything He Has with Both Hands
Just as Amelia reached the first floor, the elevator on the opposite side was already racing downward.
With a sharp chime, the doors slid open, and Rhys stepped out, pushing William.
The wheelchair rolled forward and the moment they emerged, they caught sight of Amelia and the others standing across from them.
Amelia’s eyes were faintly red, her gaze lowered to the phone in her hand.
York stood close beside her.
Sable was pacing a short distance away, her voice tight with agitation as she spoke into her phone.
William pressed his lips together, steadying himself as he guided the wheelchair toward Amelia.
"Amelia," William said.
Amelia looked down at him.
"I know everything that happened in the stairwell," Amelia's voice was slightly hoarse. "Where is she?"
William knew she meant Isabella.
William waved his hand, signaling Rhys to go upstairs and bring her down.
People moved in and out of the corridor, footsteps echoing around them. William gestured toward a nearby meeting room.
Amelia walked in first. When York was about to follow, William stopped him.
"Let me explain things to her," William said in a low voice. "This is between us."
"She's my girlfriend now," York said coldly, refusing to step aside.
"Resolving this matter benefits both of us," William said seriously. "Do you really want her to carry this burden for the rest of her life, unable to move past it?"
York’s lips tightened, his gaze locking onto William with undisguised disgust.
He had thought he understood enough, yet now, it seemed he had barely scratched the surface.
"William, you keep saying you love her," York's voice was cold. "Things were happening right beside you, you knew nothing about them."
If someone truly held another in their heart, they wouldn’t be so blind.
They wouldn't have left Amelia alone in that stairwell.
Only finding out today what really happened back then.
William's eyes reddened. He pressed his lips together tightly, lowered his head, and didn't respond.
The two stood in a brief standoff.
Three seconds passed in silence.
“I can’t even move properly right now,” William said. "I can't do anything to her."
"I just want to talk to her."
"York, you need to understand, Amelia and I had a child together," William said, lifting his head to look at York.
He said, "The matter of the child should be resolved between the two of us."
York's fists clenched tight.
That was the one point he couldn’t refute.
Seeing the conversation reach its limit, William pushed his wheelchair forward and entered the meeting room, leaving the door slightly ajar behind him.
Amelia was already sitting in a chair.
William moved closer to her side.
The sight of her reddened eyes made his chest tighten painfully.
"I'm sorry," William said, his voice unsteady, his eyes beginning to blur.
Amelia lifted her gaze slowly. Beneath her long lashes were eyes filled with hatred.
The two looked at each other.
"I want her to pay," Amelia said.
"I will make that happen," William said softly.
"I want to do it myself," she said. "Now."
William didn't respond.
He looked at her, sorrow weighing heavily in his gaze.
He didn't want to see her like this.
"I'll bring her here," William said, reaching out to hold her hand. "But you don't need to dirty your hands."
Amelia's lips pressed together tightly.
The moment his fingers brushed toward her, she slapped his hand away and turned her face aside.
If Isabella weren’t in his control right now, she wouldn’t even allow herself to see him.
Every time she thought about that day, the pain wouldn't stop.
William’s hand remained suspended in the air. He stared at her profile, eyes burning red.
"It's my fault." William said.
Amelia didn't respond. Silence pressed heavily between them.
William clenched his fist.
"Amelia," he called her name again. "What happened in the stairwell, wasn't my intention."
His chest ached as memories replayed mercilessly in his mind. She had just been in a car accident.
He didn't believe her.
Mia had called him many times. When he finally arrived at the hospital and saw her, he thought it was all an act, that she was working with Mia to deceive him.
Blinded by anger, he had pushed her down the stairs without even looking at her.
And now he knew, everything had been Isabella's premeditated plan!
Even that push had been orchestrated by Isabella.
If he hadn't pushed her back then, would their child still be in her belly now?
Would she have forgiven him?
Hatred surged through him, burning, suffocating, directed entirely at Isabella.
"Let's go settle what happened back then together.” William said urgently.
“There’s so much I still need to tell you. We... Amelia, let's make up for the past and have another child, okay?" William said.
Despicable thoughts kept churning in his heart.
Now that Amelia knew the push wasn't his intention, would she forgive him?
"Amelia, I..."
But what answered William was a loud slap.
His face stung. William looked at Amelia, only to see her ice-cold, piercing eyes.
William opened his mouth, but before he could speak, another slap from Amelia came.
Amelia said nothing, she simply raised her hand again, striking him with all the force she had.
William’s face reddened and began to swell, blood seeping from the corner of his lips.
Tears slid silently down Amelia’s cheeks.
Both children were gone.
And yet he could speak so lightly about replacing the past.
Amelia's palm went numb from the slapping.
Her right hand trembled slightly. Looking at William with his head lowered, she clenched her jaw.
"William, I hate Isabella, but..." Amelia suppressed the emotions in her chest, looking at William with red eyes.
Watching William lift his head, seeing William's sad eyes, Amelia said seriously, "William, what I hate even more is your stupidity."
“And my own stupidity."
Stupid enough to trust him.
Stupid enough to think that no matter what, they had once loved each other, and he wouldn't hurt her.
Later, she realized that she had been wrong about everything.
"I'm going to make Isabella, that murderer, pay," Amelia said with red eyes. "William, you won't escape either!"
Yes, Isabella had manipulated everything.
But the person who left her there after pushing her down was him.
The person who never once came to see her through those endless days in the hospital.
And even later, when he knew who she was, he still chose to hold onto the Martinez family’s interests above all else.
Every single thing.
All had William's involvement!
William smiled bitterly, tears falling from his eyes.
Emotions surged through him violently.
"What do you want me to do?" William said. "Amelia, what do you want me to do?"
What price did he need to pay?
As long as she gave him one word, he would walk through fire without hesitation.
As long as she was willing to turn back, willing to give him a chance.
He was willing to hand over everything he had, willing to offer all that he possessed to her.
If only she would forgive him.
