Chapter 208 I Saw Them Kissing
With these thoughts, Amelia looked at the crowd of reporters trying to break through the bodyguards' line to rush over.
Some of them were livestreaming, others holding cameras and taking photos non-stop.
The sound of camera shutters filled the air.
"Everyone," Amelia finally spoke, and the crowd immediately quieted down, wanting to hear what she had to say.
Amelia first bowed deeply to everyone.
Then she said seriously, "I understand everyone's curiosity, but what I want to tell you is that William and I are already divorced."
Amelia looked around at everyone present, her voice clear and firm.
She paused slightly, then continued, "It's not a fake divorce. We really got our divorce certificate, and I have no intention of remarrying him."
The crowd became noisy.
As Amelia was about to speak again, someone immediately called for quiet.
"Although I was once married to William, we're no longer connected now."
Amelia said very clearly, "So regarding his matters, I don't care and I don't know anything about them."
"If you want to know related information, you should go find people who are connected to him, not come to me."
"First, I don't know anything so I have no comment. Second, you're disrupting my life. Finally, I hope from now on you won't come looking for me because of his matters."
"Please take note. Thank you."
After Amelia finished speaking, she bowed deeply again.
Though she looked thin and frail, her attitude was very firm.
Her gaze swept across each reporter's face, and finally, escorted by the bodyguards, she turned and left.
As soon as Amelia left, heated discussions began.
Some people were livestreaming, some were recording videos, some were taking photos, and now they all started uploading.
#We really got our divorce certificate, and I have no intention of remarrying him#
#Regarding his matters, I don't care and I don't know anything#
These two statements were clearly broadcast through the livestreams.
Amelia's firmness and the decisiveness in her tone were crystal clear to everyone.
It caused quite an uproar.
Many previous rumors saying that Amelia wanted to wait until Isabella died to get back with William were now completely shattered.
"She's already made a public statement. This shows she really doesn't want to go back."
...
Public opinion was fermenting.
At Emerald Haven, William saw it too.
After several days of treatment and rest, his body had recovered.
He just felt somewhat tired, a mental exhaustion, so he had left many things for Rhys to handle.
William looked at her determined expression on his phone as she faced the camera.
She knew he was sick.
But she didn't care about him.
William lowered his eyes slightly, not sure what he was feeling.
These past few days, he had been in a numb state, unable to figure himself out.
His phone vibrated again with a new message notification.
William glanced at it - it was Isabella.
These past days, she had reached out to him many times.
But he didn't want to talk to her about these things, and didn't want her to know what happened that night.
Deep in his heart, there had always been a vague hope, hoping that everything was like a huge bubble, and as long as he didn't burst it, there would still be room to fix things.
But...
Amelia's statement had shattered all of this again.
"Amelia, you really don't leave me any room at all," he said softly.
As he was looking at his phone, a series of hurried footsteps came.
William frowned slightly, looked up, and then saw an furious Alvin.
"Alvin?" William asked in confusion, "How did you get in?"
Alvin walked straight toward William, grabbed William's shoulder, and pushed him hard against the headboard.
"Don't worry about how I got in!" Alvin snorted coldly.
He had brought people with him and snuck in when someone was delivering things inside, having his people control the situation.
He really felt frustrated.
That day when Amelia and York went on the hot air balloon ride, he arrived a step late and was tricked by York. He was angry too, but he hadn't been acting like William, wanting to die!
"Are you managing your company or not?" Alvin demanded directly.
"What?" William didn't understand.
Alvin was simply furious.
He pointed at William viciously, "Just because you're hiding at home, people at your company are gossiping, and then a bunch of reporters went to block Amelia!"
William wasn't very clear about all this.
He had asked Rhys to handle it and had given his medical records to the shareholders.
These past few days he hadn't paid much attention to outside news, only setting up the keyword "Amelia" to see only her news, ignoring everything else.
"I'll handle it," William said. He would make a statement later.
Alvin was even more angry at this attitude.
"So what exactly are you doing!" Alvin looked at him in exasperation.
William just looked at Alvin calmly.
He remembered what had happened at Seraphim before.
He thought, if he and Amelia had a child, then maybe they wouldn't have come to this point today.
"Say something!" Alvin was about to hit someone.
At this moment, the villa staff also hurried over to tell William that someone had broken in.
William just waved them out, indicating he knew.
Then William looked at Alvin.
"She's with York now." After a long while, William still told Alvin.
"What did you say?" Alvin suspected he had heard wrong. Didn't they just go on a hot air balloon ride?
Wasn't York pursuing her?
Seeing the flash of shock on Alvin's face, William felt a malicious sense of satisfaction.
"I'm not lying to you." William looked at Alvin's shocked face and continued, "She said it in front of me, and also..."
William paused slightly and said, "Kissed York in front of me."
"What!" Alvin jumped up.
The next moment, he gripped William's shoulders tightly, staring hard into William's eyes, as if trying to see traces of lying on William's face.
But there were none.
William's eyes only held sadness.
"I saw them kiss," William continued. "She looked... like she really likes him."
Alvin stared viciously at William in front of him.
Alvin gave William a hard slap.
"You did that on purpose! There was no need to tell me so clearly!" Alvin said with red eyes.
William laughed, a self-mocking laugh, as he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth that Alvin had drawn.
"If I don't make it clear, how would you believe what I'm saying?"
Looking at Alvin's red eyes, it was like seeing himself that night, giving him a twisted sense of satisfaction.
Alvin let go of William and paced around the room, not knowing what to do.
"Alvin," William suddenly called Alvin's name.
"What?" Alvin said angrily.
"That day at Seraphim," William asked, sadness in his eyes, "in those ten-plus minutes after I left, what exactly happened?"
Alvin looked at William, whom he had thrown against the headboard with blood at the corner of his mouth. After thinking about it, he felt it was time to let William know some things.
