Chapter 20 TWENTY
Chapter 20 TWENTY
LUCIENNE’S POV
Dumb, stupid, evil girl.
Who the hell is she and where did she come from to be having this much effect on Kael?
I watched the interaction between them, anger beating in my chest. Something was wrong, something was blooming between them, and I would rather eat myself alive than let it grow.
Kael is mine.
Ever since we were children, I’ve loved him. It was because of him I never attended the moon ceremony, lying to him that I had no interest in tying my life to a man, when in truth, I would give my soul to bind myself to him.
What was there not to like about him? He was handsome, a god, the alpha king. Being with him had brought me more power than I had ever known. The beta’s wife respected me, even though we were not mates.
The gamma, the delta, and every other woman saw me as above them, while they all remained beneath me, in the dirt.
I was the better version of everything. And with me and Kael, we would be the better version of the world.
But now there was a stupid, idiotic omega looking at him like he was candy, throwing herself into danger for attention.
I would not allow that. Not even over my dead body.
I rushed away from the door before he stepped out and saw me, storming back to my room and slamming the door behind me. Every part of me twisted in rage.
I had to do something. No. I needed to do something.
I had heard Atasha speak. The omega had been rejected seven times. Seven times, and now she wanted Kael. Of course. Greedy, miserable girl. Who wouldn’t want something they could never have?
I’ve hated omegas all my life. They were the lowest of the pack, useless, crawling like ants, always clawing for attention. Because of them, Kael never had time for me. Because of them, he had to go and bring that riffraff into his life and act soft.
I’ll kill her for him. Get rid of her so he can finally focus on me.
We used to be good together. At least the sex. He never wanted it, but I pushed him, convinced him it meant nothing. He was the alpha, I was his closest companion—wasn’t it better to have it with me than with some stranger who would gossip about it?
He agreed. But he made it clear it meant nothing.
I thought I could change that. I thought I could make him see.
But he never did. He never even tried.
And now he was looking at a worthless creature like she mattered.
I caught my reflection in the mirror, veins sharp against my skin, rage twisting my features.
Kael is mine. Mine alone. And no omega, no beta’s daughter, no princess is taking him from me.
The door opened, and my maid stepped in.
“Tell me everything you found on her.”
She bowed immediately, her head pressed to the floor, her entire body shaking.
Omegas. Miserable and pathetic. Always trembling, always pretending to be weak.
If it were up to me, I would erase them all. Leave only the strong. Leave only the worthy. Then Kael would finally see me for what I am.
“Don’t make me repeat myself,” I snapped. “And stop shaking like a fool. Speak.”
“My lady…nothing. I didn’t find anything…” she stammered.
Anger surged through me, and I crossed the distance, my palm striking her face.
Useless thing.
Tears filled her eyes instantly.
Good.
Let her cry. Let her suffer.
“You were there all this time and found nothing? I should have you thrown out!”
She collapsed to her knees, hands pressed together as she begged. “Please, my lady. I’ll find something. I promise. Just give me time—”
I grabbed her jaw, forcing her to look at me. “You will. Because you know what I can do.”
I leaned closer, my voice dropping to a whisper.
“And those siblings you love so much? I’ll make sure they disappear.”
Her body went slack.
“Don’t beg me,” I said, shoving her away. “Do your job. Get close to her. Find something.”
“Yes, my lady. I will. I won’t disappoint you.”
“Get out.”
She scrambled away, closing the door behind her.
I dropped onto the bed, my chest rising and falling as I replayed everything.
The way she looked at him.
The way he looked at her.
Kael might be blind. But I am not. Iknow a gold digger when I see one. And that bitch omega is dangerous.
My eyes snapped open as a thought struck me.
What if…
What if she’s behind it? All the attacks that has been happening. The timing made sense, it started with her and she was always getting attacked. What if she’s working with them and this is a ploy to get Kael’s attention?
I chewed my lip, my thoughts spiraling.
“No. She’s an omega. She can’t be that smart.”
Then why her?
Why does he protect her? Why does he look at her like that?
I will find out.
And when I do, I will destroy her. I will protect Kael. I will protect what is mine. Even if it costs me everything.
“My soul?” I laughed softly, sinking into the bed.
I’ll give him my life if I have to.
“Kael is mine and mine alone.”
