Chapter Thirty Two: Unexpected Visit 2

Daphne's POV
I cut the person in front of me with an icy stare. “What are you doing in my office? Get out this instant.”

She stares back at me without a word then blinks before bursting into laughter and dropping onto the couch adjacent to the table.

“Is that how you talk to your employees, Daph? They must be quaking in their boots.” I narrow my eyes at her but that only makes her laugh harder.

“Seriously, though, do they listen to you when you talk like that? That pinched expression makes you look like you're constipated.”

Sighing, I cross the room to the couch and take a seat next to her.

“What are you doing here, Cass?” Cassidy loops her arm around mine.

“I'm here for moral support, love. And to see how smashing you look in the outfit I picked out for you.” She takes a quick scan of my body while smirking.

“It's very CEO chic.” Before I'm able to call her out on her flattering, the door opens and Sara’s head pops out. She takes in the sight of us on the couch with linked arms and narrows her eyes as she cuts us a disapproving look while talking in that dry tone of hers.

“I take it she is a friend of yours? Do let me know those that are on your guest list so the receptionist doesn't have to go running after them like a lost puppy.” Then she promptly proceeds to shut the door with a slam.

“I take it you let her talk to you like that for a reason?”

I wave her annoyance off. “Calm down, she's one of my grandfather’s.”

“Huh. That explains it.”

“That, and I kind of like how her sassiness reminds me of you.” I offer her a knowing grin. She gives me an answering one in return.

“Yeah, but she can't compare to the real deal.”

“That I agree with.” I respond. My expression suddenly turns serious.

“Cass, do you know how risky it was for you to come here?”
