Chapter 76
Jason’s POV
I was pacing Liam’s office, eager to get on the move to rescue Eliza.
“Here you go, sire.” The witch, Irina said as she walked back in.
“Let’s go men.” Liam said as he was finishing sharpening his sword.
“Nifty tool you got there,” Tanner told him.
“It’s spelled to kill all supernatural beings.” He said with a lazy drawl.
I gulped a little, thankful he hasn’t pulled it out on us. I’ve never fought a demigod and didn’t plan to.
“We’re here brother.” Warren said as he walked in with Justin trailing behind.
“Just in time, let me catch you up to speed.” Liam started chatting away while Trey got a phone call. I could hear through the receiver that his pack had just arrived and were waiting outside.
“The army is here. Let’s go save our woman.” Trey said when he hung up the phone.
“Let’s go!” Luke said with enthusiasm while heading out of the office.
I trailed behind them ready to go get our girl and child.
Luke’s POV
We arrived back at the werewolf king’s villa. An army at our beck and call, ready to rescue our girl. I wasn’t looking forward to war, but Eliza was worth it. Our child was worth it.
“I think I should give her the antidote,” I told Liam. He nodded in agreement and handed it over. I sniffed the air and found she seemed to be in the southwest part of the estate.
I left the men and made my way towards Eliza’s and my son’s scent. I came across a room with a large steel door. Too strong to break through. I tried the handle, it was locked. I knocked, hoping she’d answer.
“Who is it?” Her beautiful voice sang out.
“It’s me, Luke.” I said, hoping she’d open up.
The door creaked open a sliver.
“Do I know you?” She asked quietly.
“I’m the father of your son,” I answered her.
“I thought so.” She sighed before opening the door.
“What I don’t understand is why Jackson would lie to me about who you were. I find it hard to believe that he didn’t already know.” She said sadly.
“Sweetheart, he kidnapped you and locked us up, then he messed with your memories. Search your heart and you’ll know it’s true.” I begged her.
“How do I get my memories back if that’s the case?” She asked me hopefully.
“I have the antidote here. All you have to do is take it.” I told her.
“Will it hurt my unborn baby?” She asked.
Unborn baby, she’s pregnant with his child? Oh shit, he’s not going to give her up without a fight.
“I don’t believe so, baby.” I slowly approached her and ran my fingers through her hair, she looked up at me with wide green eyes as I leaned down and pressed my lips to hers. Our connection was electric, even without her memories. Her eyelashes fluttered closed and I took the opportunity to plunge my tongue into her mouth. We made out for some time before we separated, breathing heavy.
“Will you trust me enough to take this antidote?” I asked her. She seemed thoughtful before agreeing.
I handed her the vial and she squeezed the bridge of her nose before drinking the potion. She gagged and coughed before collapsing.
“Eliza?!” I cried out as I caught her before she hit the ground.
The baby stirred on the bed and began crying. I laid her down on the bed and picked him up, kissing his little face. My baby boy. Daddy is here.
I sat down with him in my arms and waited for her to come to consciousness again. Hopefully it would be before Jackson showed back up. I just hoped the distraction of the army would be sufficient enough for me to take her and Luke and leave.
Tanner’s POV
The werewolf king, Jackson. He was as vicious looking as the rumors claimed. A big guy with tattoos and a scar running down his face. He was smoking a cigarette, looking bored with our intrusion.
“Why are you here?” He asked us.
“We want our woman back.” Liam replied.
He barked out a laugh, “since when is she yours, Liam? When I stopped by the church, didn’t she leave your ass at the altar?”
Liam gripped his sword tightly.
“Look, just let her go and things don’t have to get dirty.” I told him, hoping talking would be enough.
He growled instead, “you’re not taking MY mate. She’s pregnant with my pup, anyway. Isn’t that great news?”
She’s pregnant? Damn, shit just got complicated.
Jackson slowly started making his way towards us and I could tell he was on the verge of shifting. I ground my feet further into the ground, waiting for his attack. He had guards and warriors surrounding him, already shifted. Trey’s pack came in wolf form already, the only wolves still human were Trey and Jackson.
I could hear Jason growl next to me, on the offense. Warren, Justin and Liam held their swords in front of themselves.
Quick as a whip, Jackson shifted into a large brown wolf. He snarled and drooled all over the place as he took off running towards us. Trey also shifted and took off towards Jackson. They tumbled into each other and began snapping and biting. The wolves on both sides also started to fight, the air was filled with the smell of blood and the sound of whining and growling.
Warren, Justin and Liam were battling with their swords while Jason and I were cracking wolf necks.
“Stop it!” I heard a lovely voice cry out. Almost immediately, there was silence and everyone froze. Eliza came out holding our baby with Luke trailing behind. She walked up to the wolf form of Jackson.
“Shift!” She cried out. Instantly, he shifted back into his human form.
As soon as he did, she slapped him.
“Baby, why?” He asked.
“You lied to me!” She yelled at him before slapping him again.
“You!” He growled at Luke.
“Me.” He said in reply.
“I remember everything,” Eliza said. “How could you alter my memories? Erase the memories of those that I love? You tricked me. How could you? I thought you loved me.”
“I do love you baby. I had to do it for us.” He pleaded. She hmph’d, unconvinced. She walked over to our side of the battlefield and yelled out to Jackson, “don’t follow me.”
I couldn’t believe it, with just a few words, the werewolf king was basically on his knees. Maybe this battle would be over with this turn of events.
Jackson’s POV
I was shocked by the slap. I couldn’t comprehend what was happening. Next thing I knew, my mate was walking away from me and towards them. Those bastards. I needed to think about where to go from here. I can’t harm my mate, she’s pregnant with my pup. I can’t let her leave either.
“Where do you think you’re going little mate?” I called out to her. She turned around harshly, “away from you! When you think about what you’ve done, then we can have a conversation.”
Think about what I’ve done? I’ve never done such a thing in my life. What do I do in this situation?
“Son, don’t hurt her.” My mother walked up to me and said. I scoffed, I would never hurt her.
“That’s not the plan, mother.”
“Let her go, we can talk this over but for now, I think she needs space. Do you want a relationship with your pup or not? If you force her to stay, she’ll resent you. At least if you let her leave for now, you stand a chance.” She told me. Mother did always make a good point.
“Eliza, you can leave for now, but we aren’t over. I’ll return soon so we can work things out. I love you, baby.” I called out to her. I saw her wipe a tear from the corner of her eye. She mouthed, “I love you, too.”
