First Day of College - PART III

Anushka's POV :

This room is so shabby, it looks like a godown room. There is little light, dust is everywhere. Tani must have been worried for the past few minutes. She keeps calling me. No she should be worried, why wasn't she talking to me? I was feeling very bad then. It's her time now. No no, Anushka you should check her out. If she goes to the principal's office that might be ridiculous, can't take that risk. Oh, there's a keyhole in the door, let me check, is she here? Yes she is here. I should pick up her call.

So, the story is that Anushka was hiding in an unlocked room on that floor. And entering the room, she realized that the room was like a godown room. She wanted to worry Tani as revenge for not talking to her. She succeeds in her plan. Then wanted to make Tani more tense, so she received Tani's call.

"Hello." Anu received the call.

"Anu where are you? Are you fine? Did something happen to you? Where did you go without telling me? Answer me..", said Tani in one breath.

"No, I'm in a room and it's really scary, please help me Tani.", Anu said with a trembling voice.

"Oh my god. Okay calm down. Tell me are you on the floor where we were or somewhere else? Did someone take you there?", Tani asked.

"Yes I was right behind you and a hand grabbed my face from behind and took me from there and pushed me into this room. I think this room may or may not be locked. I'm very scared.. please help me...” Anu said these things to Tani in a crying voice.

"Okay relax. I'm on that floor don't worry I'll be there any minute. Just remember don't be scared and keep talking to me.", Tani assured her.

Anu was enjoying it and looking at Tani through the key hole. Anu keeps pretending as if she is very scared. She saw her walking around on that floor. Suddenly Anu realizes that her leg is itching, she looks down and sees a big rat crawling on her leg. In fear, she screamed very loudly and opened the door and got out. Tani was on the call with her so she heard the screams too. She was about to ask Anu, "What happened?", when she saw Anu running out of a room and closing the door. Tani was right behind her. She saw Anu and ran towards her and asked what happened? Anu was shaking with fear. Tani thinks there must be someone in that room and so Anu is scared.

"Hey.. shh shh.. what happened? Calm down, look at me.. I'm here.", Tani said to Anu and held her arms.

"The... the... rat", Anu stammered.

"What? Seriously..", Tani was shocked and released her arms. She was convinced that Anu had been lying about the whole thing for the past few minutes. Tani got very angry and literally walked away.

"No wait Tani.. Tani.. I'm sorry.. Tani..", Anu was feeling really regretful of her own actions. She followed her to the classroom.

The class will end after 15 minutes. And Anu was trying to apologize to Tani from the beginning of the class but she was ignoring her. Students have finished taking notes and now the teacher is giving their attendance. So, Anu was now busy seeking forgiveness from her bestie.

Tani was not listening to her. Suddenly Anu opened the last page of her notebook and wrote 'SORRY ☹️' and gave it to her. Tani reluctantly agreed but wanted to play with her a little more. She pretended not to care about any of her words. She sees the note and pushes Anu's copy towards her. Again Anu write 'I'm really S O R R Y 😢'. But this time too Tani refused to look at her, handed the notebook back. Now Anu just drew '😭😭😭😭' emoji and gave the notebook to Tani.

Tani is enjoying her apology, now she turns her head towards Anu after seeing the notebook. Anu make a cried face and held her ears. The students on the bench behind them were quietly smiling at them. Seeing that, Tani removes Anu's hands from her ears.

"Well ok, ok.., don't do that, everyone is watching us.", Tani told Anu.

"No you say first, you have forgiven me.", said Anu.

"Yes I did.", Tani nodded.

Class is over. The teacher left the class. Students also started leaving the classroom. Anu and Tani were about to leave their benches when a girl called them from behind, and said, "Hi". Tani and Anu looked back and also said 'hello' to her. "Hi, I'm Akanksha." She extended her hand for a handshake. They shook hands with her.

"Can I ask you a question if you guys don't mind?", said the girl.

Tani said, "Yes, shoot."

"Are you guys best friends?", said Akanksha.

"Yes, we are.", Tani smiled. Anu also smiled and shook her head.

Akanksha said, "Let's go."

Anu and Tani became friends with their bench mates, they all left the class together along with Akanksha.

"What's up?", Rohan said over the phone.

"Work in progress.", came the reply from the other side.

"Okay.. Let me know." Rohan said.

"Of course brother..", came the reply again.

"Hey what are you doing there, come here," Tani told Akanksha.

"Yes here I am coming.", Akanksha replied to Tani hanging up the phone.

Tani and Anu are chatting in the canteen with the rest of their friends.

Anu asked Akanksha, "Hey what were you doing, you missed Rishita's funny story."

"Oh nothing, the call came from home.", answered Akanksha.

They chatted for a while longer and left for each other's homes. Akanksha accompanied Anu and Tani to the gate of the college and when they got into the car, she waved them off and entered the college again. Her phone rang, she picked it up and said, "Yes, I'm coming, wait."

Akanksha went some distance to the parking lot. A boy stands by the bike, with his back turned. Akanksha patted the boy on the back and called him. The boy turned to Akanksha and said, "Hey my little sister." Akanksha hugged the boy and said, "Hey my handsome brother." The boy hugged his sister with a smile and said, "Rohan, the name will be heard."
