Chapter 8: Cracks in friendship

Akanksha's friendship with Tani and Anu has been almost two months. They got along well with each other. Akanksha, has also earned Anu's trust. But she could not earn Tani's trust as much. They are now discussing fresher party's plans in the canteen after class along with other friends. They are planning what dress they will wear in the party, what makeup they will do, what hairstyle they will have, these things.

But on the other hand Tani is not that excited about the party. Tani has noticed a strange change in Anu for the past two months. Akanksha has become a very good friend of Anu. Tani did not like this change behavior of her close one. Anu is busy with her new friend most of the days after she arrives in her life. Additionally, Akanksha occasionally talks to someone on the phone, and when asked who it is, she says the call came from home. Tani has a little doubt about this matter. She is not at all satisfied with Akanksha's same strange reply.

When Anu met Rohan after one month of starting college, they used to talk with eye gestures and smile. Akanksha enjoyed this. But Tani did not find this very convenient.

Tani asked Anu one day to confirm, "Anu, what's going on with you and Rohan?"

Anu said, "Nothing! We just talk sometimes."

Tani replied, "So what's with those eye gestures? Something's going on."

Anu denied the whole thing and said, "No, you misunderstood."

Since that incident, Tani has noticed a lot of changes in Anu's behavior. Whenever Tani went to tell Anu about this, she avoided the whole thing.

Present day :

In the afternoon Tani was passing by the college playground when she saw Akanksha was talking to Rohan. Tani never saw Akanksha alone with Rohan, whenever she saw; Anu was with her.

As Tani gets suspicious about this, she immediately went to the common room to talk to Anu.

Tani tells Anu, "I saw Akanksha was talking to Rohan. Something is going on between them."

Anu said, "Hey, I sent her to give him something."

Tani asked in surprise, "What can you give him?"

Anu was not willing to answer so many questions, got a bit angry with Tani and said, "Ugh Tani, you don't have to see so much. I love Rohan and Rohan loves me."

Anu's words felt very hard for Tani. She was very hurt. She was in no condition to say anything. But also Tani realized what game Rohan and Akanksha were playing.

Tani said to Anu, "You have hidden such a big thing from me. And now when I want to know about something, you are ignoring me as hell. Remember you were my childhood friend, you used to share each & every single word with me. And now that girl has become more important to you."

Tani's eyes got wet while saying these words. Tani also said, "You trust that girl more than me now, and that boy; he doesn't love you, he is playing with your feelings."

Anu got angry and said, "Tani, don't say one more thing. You are saying too much. You don't know them yet, so please don't say good or bad about them. If you say one more thing about them, it will be very bad."

The common room was resounding with their screams. The girls next to them are busy watching their quarrel.

Tani calmed herself down a little and sighed and went ahead, held Anu's hand and said, "Anu, you are wrong, they are not good. You have been brainwashed by that girl. Anu you are misunderstanding me, listen to me they are misguiding you."

Anu jerked Tani's hand away and gave a push and said, "Please stop, don't talk to me again. Get out of here."

Anu's words hit Tani like a thorn. Anu never talked to Tani like that. Tani is surprised to see a stranger version of Anu. Anu was never so violent.

Still Tani composed herself and said to Anu, "Did you notice your strange change? You have never talked to me like this before. They brainwashed you so much that you lost your manners, dignity, conscience, and conciousness also."

Anu shouted, "Please stop, you don't have to see what I was, what I wasn't. Please go, from here."

The others in the room were shocked. In the meantime, Rohan and Akanksha rushed to the window of the common room after hearing screams from the common room. They come and see Anu and Tani having a big fight, shouting at each other. Seeing this, both of them felt a flood of joy. They were smiling at each other and enjoying their fight.

Akanksha said, "Bro then the plan is successful huh! Ugh I was waiting for so long to see this."

Rohan chuckled, "Only you! I decided that day, the day she punched Pritam. I'll show her, her rightful place. And her good & kind hearted bestie, it wasn't that difficult to trap her in love. What an innocent girl, for her I have a plan B ready. Just see what happens next."

Akanksha said, "I'll go now, their fight is about to end. Let's see Tani's face from a close view."

"Yes, go", said Rohan with a smile.

Tani was about to leave the room with tears in her eyes, when she saw Akanksha was entering the room. When they faced each other, Tani saw a glint in Akanksha's eyes and face. Tani left the room without saying anything.
