Chapter 41 Chapter 41
Tessa
I grabbed a taxi and dropped Leah's home's address, my heart was racing steadily with the decision I was about to make but I shrugged my shoulder. I don't have to care.
I whine down the mirror, the city lights blurred together outside the window, my mind focused on the party ahead.
Soon the taxi man packed in front of Leah's home and I paid before heading inside praying inwardly I wouldn't meet Liam at home.
I knocked on the door waiting for a reply but the door opened revealing Leah with a large smile on her lips. "Hey, girl! I'm glad you made it." She exclaimed
"Yeah, I'm here" I stepped inside the house.
"So, what changed your mind about coming to the party?" She asked behind me but I shrugged my shoulder.
"Don't worry about it. Let's focus on getting ready for the party," i said happily trying to divert her attention.
"Yeah let's do that" she exclaimed. Happy my trick works
We walked to her room and closed the door behind us.
"I got this for you," Leah said, her eyes sparkling. "I figured you might need something special for tonight." She explained. I furrow my brows.
"What about the clothes I bought earlier," I asked my eyes darting around.
"Nah! Nah! Nah, you are wearing this," he pointed to the cloth on the bed and I inhaled loudly.
"Huh! Really?" I gasped, my hand running over the silky fabric on the bed. "it's a beautiful dress! But why?" I turned back to look at her.
She grinned suspiciously. "I figured you might meet someone special. Who knows?" She beamed.
"I'm not looking for a boyfriend, I just want to have a good time." I laughed, shaking my head.
"You never know what might happen. Just keep an open mind, okay?" Her expression turned sly.
I rolled my eyes good-naturedly. "Fine, but no matchmaking, deal?" I inquired and he nodded.
"I promise nothing." She held up her hands in mock innocence.
"Get change into the dress" she urges picking up the dress.
I took it from her staring at it for a few minutes before taking off the clothes I was putting on.
I changed into the dress, I felt a surge of excitement rush over me. Tonight was about letting loose, not finding love.
"Wow, this looks cute than I ever imagined" She covered her lips with her palm.
"Really?" I asked checking myself in the mirror.
"Yes, sit let's get your makeup done" She forced me to sit down while laughing out loudly.
I nodded my head allowing her to do whatever she wanted.
She began the makeup, and her expertise was highlighted, making me almost unrecognizable. I had to admit, I felt a surge of confidence.
After some minutes she was done and she did the last touch.
"All done" she exclaimed dropping the brush.
"Wow" A gasp escaped my lips at my transformation
"You are good to go" Leah gave me a thumbs up and I nodded.
"Let me get dressed also" she murmured and went to pick her dress.
She slipped into her dress, a fitted red number that accentuated her curves.
"You look stunning," I said, genuinely impressed even before he was done putting on the clothes.
"Thanks, girl!" Leah beamed.
Soon she was done and she also did her make-up.
"Now, let's get this night started." She said when we were ready to leave the room.
We headed downstairs, my heart skipped a beat as I spotted Liam waiting by the door.
His eyes locked on mine, and I felt a flutter in my chest. His gaze roamed over me, taking in the dress.
I shifted uncomfortably but remained silent. Leah seemed oblivious to the tension.
"Ready to go?" Liam asked, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine.
"Yes let go" Leah grabbed my hand by surprise and started dragging me outside.
We get into the car, Liam taking the driver's seat.
The ride was quiet, with Leah chatting occasionally. I zoned out, lost in my thoughts.
Before much long, we arrived at the party location. Even with the outside few, you'd be mesmerized.
The air pulsed with energy, and people spilled out of the building. Music thumped, and laughter echoed through the night air.
"Let's get drunk and safe out the sorrow" Leah murmured under her breath before stepping forward.
I exchanged a meaningful glance with Liam before following Leah behind.
We entered the club, and I was swept up in the chaos. Different types of fragrance swept across my nose. It felt like it would be my first time coming to a club.
Leah dragged me to the bar, ordering us drinks. The server gave us our order.
I downed mine quickly, feeling the burn of alcohol spreading through my veins.
"Another?" Leah yelled over the music.
I nodded, eager to drown my sorrows.
The music suddenly paused, and we all exchanged stared among each other. Wondering what was happening.
The emcee's voice boomed to life, welcoming everyone to the party. "Ladies and gentlemen, let's get this night started!"
A sign escaped my lips.
The crowd cheered, and I raised my glass, taking a sip of my drink.
"And now, please put your hands together for our party boy, Alex!" the emcee announced loudly.
My eyes widened as I caught who the emcee had just introduced as Alex, he emerged from the sea of people, a charming smile spreading across his face. His face lingered on me and he winked I felt a flutter in my chest.
"Alex?" I murmured, the same guy who had helped me? The same guy I cried on his chest? The same one who had called me a mad woman?
I turned to Leah, confusion etched on my face. "Leah, isn't that...?" I swallowed my word when I realized Leah had no idea I knew him.
"Meet my boyfriend, Alex." She grinned mischievously. My ears hearing the words that shock me completely.
My eyes darted back to Alex, then to Leah. "How?" I mouthed, but she just laughed and whispered, "Later."
The emcee continued, "And now, let's celebrate Alex's special day with a kiss from his beautiful girlfriend, Leah!"
Leah's face lit up as Alex pulled her close, their lips meeting in a tender kiss. The crowd cheered, and I applauded, feeling a pang of happiness and surprise.
Throughout their kiss my eyes were only looking but mind was somewhere else.
"Now let's get down to the game" the emcee's voice brings me back to reality.
"I need to go to the restroom," I said to Leah, eager to escape the game or whatever they were planning to do.
Leah nodded, concern etched on her face. "You okay?" She asked.
"Just need a break, "I forced a smile.
I made my way through the crowd, Alex's gaze followed me, his eyes sparkling with amusement. I felt a shiver run down my spine.
I stood in the dimly lit restroom, collecting my thoughts. The music and laughter from the party seemed distant, a welcome respite.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and Liam stepped inside catching me by surprise.
"Hiding, huh?" he asked, his voice low and husky.
I shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant even though I was trembling. "Just needed some fresh air," I replied.
He stepped closer, his proximity making me uncomfortable. "I want to play truth and dare with you," he said, his gaze locked on mine.
I shook my head, trying to laugh it off. "No thanks, Not interested," I replied like he'd stop him from pressing further.
"You've been a naughty girl, Seducing me without even knowing?" His lips curled into a naughty smile
My eyes flashed with indignation. "That's ridiculous," I uttered. "Don't you have anywhere to go? Patients to attend to?" I added.
"Oh, I think it's perfect. We can play patient and doctor instead." His smile grew wider.
"What?" I asked surprisedly.
"You're the only patient I'm interested in right now," he chuckled, his breath warm against my skin.
I was about to reply when Leah's voice shut me up.
"Tessssssssa! Where are you, girl?" Leah called out, her words barely intelligible.
Liam released me, his eyes never leaving mine. "Looks like your friend needs you." He smiles curtly.
