58. Escaping with a Freakish Woman
Without further ado, Cathy immediately rode behind Agnes without permission, making the short-haired woman swear as she almost fell off the bike.
"Hurry up so I can get back to Jonathan."
Agnes chuckled. She was at a loss for words in the face of Cathy's shamelessness.
"Wow! You need my help now." Agnes said smugly. "Indeed, you and your sister-in-law are no different. Ignorant and pretentious."
"Hey! Isn't Via also your sister-in-law?" Cathy reminded without wanting to take those words to heart. "Never mind that we're the same even though I don't feel like it!"
"Bitch!" grumbled Agnes, unable to wrap her head around the idea.
"Let's go! No need to talk too much!" Cath tapped Agnes on the shoulder. "People who talk a lot tend to be short-lived!"
Agnes put on her helmet and closed her eyes for a moment as a way to neutralize the atmosphere that had suddenly become gloomy due to Catharina's presence. She was the very definition of a crazy woman.
Agnes didn't care either way. She sped off on her bike while Cathy looked around in various directions. She looked back to make sure that there were no police or people following her.
"Hey, idiot, are you okay in there?" Agnes shouted so that her voice wouldn't be drowned in the wind.
"Why do you suck at riding motorcycles?!" Cathy squealed. "Increase the speed again!"
"You don't know yourself! How can you hitch a ride and complain about so many things?" chided Agnes. "It's a good thing I gave you a ride!" Agnes then increased her speed. She was so adept at weaving through the crowded streets. She seemed challenged by Cathy's condescension.
Cathy laughed. "You already know I'm crazy. Why are you still complaining? If you know I'm crazy, then understand!"
Agnes did not respond this time. Either she wasn't listening or too lazy to reply to the insane person's ramblings.
"Hey! Whose bike is this?" Cathy was suddenly curious. She knew that a socialite like Agnes would never drive her vehicle. There would always be a driver, especially if she had to ride a big motorcycle. It was impossible.
"I don't know either. I just took the keys that were hanging in the garage. I was in the mood to go alone but the roads were busy."
"Thankfully, it's not David's."
"David? Who is that?"
Cathy widened her eyes. "You don't know who he is?"
"Crazy person from where else?"
Cathy couldn't help but giggle at Agnes' often tickling words until she felt a knot in her stomach. But Cathy thought it was only natural. Being part of the Beltz Family made anyone even more insane as they met many mentally ill people.
"David is Via's boyfriend. Didn't you know?" Cathy exclaimed.
"Ah! He is." Agnes seemed to understand.
"You didn't know?"
"Of course, I know! I just don't remember her name!"
The motorcycle continued to drive at the high speed Cathy had requested. The breeze was getting colder as it blew against Cathy's face and a bit of hair under the helmet. The weather was also quite good. No wonder Agnes enjoyed riding the motorcycle on her own.
If the weather had been hot, it was predictable that Agnes would not have ridden the motorcycle. She couldn't stand it if her smooth skin got burnt. Then, they entered a quieter street. This atmosphere reminded her of chasing a robber who turned out to be her husband.
Secretly, the corners of Cathy's lips twitched. She smiled softly. Motorcycles, roads, and wounds always held memories between her and her husband. Cathy also didn't know what definition of marriage she was living with Jonathan.
Agnes felt something was wrong. There was no sound. No sign of life. "Hey, did you faint in the back?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Ah! You're still alive."
Cathy snorted in annoyance.
"That's good. Don't pass out! That would be troublesome." Agnes laughed with contempt. "Hey! You're looking weak. Shouldn't we eat first to replenish our strength? I haven't eaten yet. You'll need it, too."
"You can't read the situation? What an idiot!" snapped Cathy. "I'm hungry, but I'm not hitching a ride with you for enjoyment to fill my stomach."
"Calm down. I'll treat you."
"Can't you see that I'm in a hurry?" screeched Cathy in annoyance. "How insensitive! If I wasn't in a hurry, I wouldn't have forced myself to leave like this!"
"Fine!" grumbled Agnes. "Why are you blaming me, anyway?"
"Who did it?"
"You're putting me in such a corner as if I forced your hand!" snapped Agnes equally loudly.
The two of them were always arguing unnecessarily. From shouting so much to fight the wind, Cathy began to feel her stomach tighten again. Now, her head was also spinning as her vision became blurry.
With her trembling hands, she held onto Agnes' waist. She tried hard not to falter and ended up falling off the motorcycle. Occasionally, the woman blinked her eyes to maintain consciousness.
"A-Agnes...?"
"What else?!" She muttered. "I'm so thirsty right now. I don't want to argue!"
"Why don't you ask?"
"About what?"
"Why don't you ask where I'm going?"
In her poor state, Cathy inwardly wanted to rest for a while because she couldn't afford to leave this state despite her ambition to continue. Right now, Cathy needed a place that would remind her of her true destination but that bitch Agnes didn't ask.
"What am I asking for? I even know where to take you." Agnes smirked. Her tone sounded arrogant, then sped up the vehicle even faster.
The helpless Cathy frowned. She didn't seem to have the energy to speak. Her body was getting weaker even though there were so many words that just ended up stuck in her throat.
As the motorcycle came to a halt, Cathy slowly opened her heavy eyelids. She blinked slowly several times to be able to get a real shot of the scene in this weakened state.
Instantly, her eyes became round. Even when Cathy opened them, they were immediately brightly lit. She was dumbfounded while frozen for some time. The world has stopped spinning. Cathy rubbed her eyes repeatedly. It was like a nightmare. Perhaps she was hallucinating while her body was not well.
"Damn, woman!" screeched Cathy. She cursed with both her words and her gaze.
Even Agnes with a calm face, helped to open the helmet Cathy was wearing as several nurses arrived with stretchers.
"Bitch!" Cathy cursed. She returned to cursing Agnes with a fiery, vengeful gaze.
