Chapter 134 One thirty four

Chapter 134 One thirty four
Aria’s POV

“What did you just say?”

Her voice came sharp through the phone, cutting through the silence. For a second, I wished the call had dropped. I wished I could pretend I hadn’t said it at first.

But I had already dropped the bomb, let me face it. I swallowed hard, forcing the words out again, steadier this time.

“I’m pregnant.”

There was absolute silence on the other end. Not the comfortable kind where two people are just thinking of what to say.

This silence felt heavy… like it was pressing down on my chest, making it harder to breathe.

I pulled the phone slightly away from my ear, staring at the screen as if it might give me some kind of escape. But the call was still ongoing.

“For how long… and who?” she replied slowly as if afraid to scare me.

Her voice had changed. Softer now. But I could hear the tension beneath it.

“It’s about two weeks,” I said quietly, pacing slowly across the room. “And… the father of the child wants to come see you.”

I could almost picture her, sitting upright, brows drawn together, mind already racing ahead of everything I was saying.

A slow breath came from her end of the line.

“Saturday,” she said. “I’ll be free to host you both this Saturday.” Relief flickered through me, small but noticeable. Ok

“Okay,” I replied. “Thank you.”

But I didn’t hang up.

Something else had been bothering me. Something I couldn’t ignore anymore.

“My body has been… weird lately,” I admitted, my voice dropping slightly. “I haven’t been feeling alright at all.”.

There was no hesitation this time.

“That’s because you’re pregnant,” she said plainly. I stopped pacing. She didn't even think to sugarcoat it. Just blunt truth.

I exhaled slowly, pressing my free hand against my stomach without thinking.
Pregnant.

The word still didn’t feel like mine.

“And…” she continued, her tone shifting again, becoming more serious, “does he know you’re a hybrid wolf?”

My chest tightened.

I glanced at my reflection in the mirror across the room, my eyes instinctively locking onto… my eyes.

“They’ve been changing,” I said slowly.

“More often. And… it seems like he notices.”

That worried me.

Because noticing meant questioning.
And questioning led to truths I wasn’t ready to explain.

“You need to be careful, Aria,” she said firmly. “Whatever you do next… think it through. And you should tell him.”

I closed my eyes briefly.

Tell him.

It sounded simple when she said it. Like it was just another conversation. But it wasn’t.

It was everything.

“He deserves to know who he’s marrying,” she added. “It will avoid complications in the future.”

Complications.

That word didn’t even begin to cover it.
Still… she wasn’t wrong.

“I hear you,” I said quietly.

There was nothing else to say.

I thanked her, my voice softer now, and ended the call.

The moment the line disconnected, the silence returned, but this time, it felt louder and heavier.

I stood there for a while, staring at nothing, my thoughts moving too fast for me to catch.

Pregnant. A hybrid.
A future I hadn’t fully planned… already unfolding without waiting for me to catch up.

I let out a slow breath and shook my head slightly, as if that could clear everything.
It didn’t.

But I couldn’t just stand there forever.

I needed to move. I needed to do something, anything to stop myself from overthinking.

So I got dressed. Simple. Quick. Mechanical.

Every movement felt automatic, like my body was doing the work while my mind stayed somewhere else entirely.

Once I was done, I grabbed my phone and ordered an Uber. The app confirmed it almost immediately.

Good.

The faster I left, the better.

I stepped outside, the air hitting my skin in a way that grounded me slightly. Within minutes, the car pulled up.

I got in without saying much, giving the driver my address.

The ride was quiet.

No music. No conversation.

Just the low hum of the engine and the occasional sound of passing cars.
I leaned my head slightly against the window, watching the city blur past.
Everything looked normal.

People walking. Lights glowing. Life moving forward like nothing had changed.
But everything had changed.

For me, at least.

My hand moved to my stomach again, unconsciously.

Two weeks.

It was still so early. So small.

And yet… it already felt like something bigger than me.

Something I couldn’t undo.

Something I had to face.

By the time the car stopped, I barely remembered the ride.

“We’re here,” the driver said.

I blinked, sitting up properly.

Right.

Home.

I paid him, stepped out, and stood there for a second, staring at the door.

Something felt… off.

I couldn’t explain it.

Maybe it was just everything already weighing on me.

Or maybe…

I shook the thought away and walked forward.

When I reached the door, I reached into my bag for my keys, but paused.

The door wasn’t locked.

Maybe Katie is home.

She must be home.

A small, tired smile almost formed.
Good. Maybe I wouldn’t have to deal with everything alone tonight.

I pushed the door open gently and stepped inside.

“Katie?” I called out.

No response. The house felt… quiet. Too quiet to be normal.

I frowned slightly, closing the door behind me and stepping further in.

That strange feeling came back.

Stronger this time.

I moved slowly toward her room, my footsteps soft against the floor.

“Katie?”

I started hearing some sounds coming from inside.

Still nothing.

My hand reached the door.

I hesitated for just a second.

Then I pushed it open.

And froze.

The sight in front of me hit like a shockwave.

Katie and Maeve.

On the bed.

Stark naked.

My breath caught in my throat, my entire body going rigid as my mind struggled to process what I was seeing.

Everything stopped.

The air left my throat.

My thoughts.

Shock rooted me to the spot, my eyes locked on the scene like I couldn’t look away, even if I wanted to.
