Endless

The chaos at Sinclair was still ongoing. But until now Curtis had not moved. He was waiting for the people to punish the nobles they had tried for their crimes. He had more important things to take care of than saving Noel and the greedy nobles in Sinclair.

"Congratulations Your Highness, it's a boy," said Nancy who had just come out of Swana's labor room.

To be honest, the man continued to stand stiffly without moving when he heard Swana's screams during labor. He seemed to have no soul as he imagined Swana's pain. Terrible thoughts of something happening to Swana roamed around. Especially when he remembered that Luna from the first Arsion died during labor and the baby did not survive.

"Be-really?" Curtis was still stunned like a fool. His sweat was even falling down from tension. He had only experienced this kind of tension in his entire life.

Nancy wanted to laugh so badly at the pitiful face of the Commander that everyone feared. It showed that this man really loved his wife.

"Please come in your highness, everything has been cleaned up. Lady Swana is also waiting for you with your baby," Nancy said amused.

Curtis nodded and entered. His legs were heavy with nerves. He dreaded the gruesome sight of a pained or bloody Swana greeting him. But all was not as he had imagined. Swana chuckled at the baby in her arms.

"Honey, our baby is so handsome," Swana said.

Nancy took Swana's baby and showed it to Curtis. They both watched Curtis' expression with excitement. The other servants who were still in Swana's room also looked at Curtis. They wanted to see how their Commander would react.

"I'm glad you and our baby are safe. Thank goodness..." said Curtis.

Of course, all the servants were touched. They rushed out of Swana's room, as did Nancy. She put the baby on the bed before going out.

Curtis took a moment to be happy about the birth of his son.

"Swana, I'm sorry. I can't be with you here. Sinclair's situation is chaotic and I have to be there," Curtis said.

"I heard that too. Go, I hope it's not too late," Swana replied.

Again and again she emphasized to Noel to change his attitude. Swana was afraid this would happen, and now her fears were real.

"Take care of yourself. I'll be back as soon as things get better."

Swana nodded. She escorted her husband away with a smile. The thought of the people's anger was frightening and there was no telling what Curtis would do to prevent the situation from escalating.

"I hope Yerenika is safe and Samuel can take care of her."

Samuel welcomed Curtis' arrival. The two of them looked at each other as if they could speak only through words. And from the look in Samuel's eyes, Curtis could see that everything was going according to plan.

The atmosphere was indeed calm. But the citizens were still swarming the palace after executing Noel and the nobles who were on the fallen king's side.

"You did well, Sam, now leave everything to me," Curtis said.

The man stood on the balcony. Intending to give a speech. His eyes which had a predatory color swept over everyone standing below.

Silence immediately engulfed the people on the field when they realized that Curtis, the Commander-in-Chief of the Arta kingdom and Sinclair were standing on the balcony.

"Do you feel that justice has been served!?"

Everyone looked at each other. No one dared to answer.

"Are you satisfied!?" Curtis shouted again.

"You as the highest authority have done what you wanted. So go back to your homes. From here on, I will be in charge of the kingdom until a new king is chosen!" Curtis said.

"No one will be prosecuted or arrested. I guarantee you'll be fine. All I want is for you to live as before!"

The people were still silent, this was not what they wanted.

Curtis knew because he had heard the conditions.

"Don't worry about the agricultural seeds. I will order the finance minister to provide aid to every region where crops were destroyed. From now on, things will no longer be the same as before. From now on, the government will be run by the prime minister under the authority of the emperor. I will also establish a representative assembly for you!"

Everyone was stunned, as were the nobles who were currently listening to Curtis' speech. For a long time, it was the emperor who held the government.

"This way we can elect competent people. You can also make your voices heard."

All the people who heard immediately cheered. The new policy Curtis was offering was exactly what they wanted.

"Long live Commander Curtis!"

"Long live Sinclair!"

From then on, the kingdom of Sinclair was no longer the same. But everything was for the better. There would be no more unreasonable taxation. There were no more nobles who dared to be arbitrary even though some of them were still conservative-minded.

Yerenika was appointed as the new queen. Curtis and Samuel had planned this since seeing the incompetent Noel. Both of them agreed that the problem of the Sinclair kingdom would be resolved if Yerenika became queen. And Samuel as Prime Minister.

Some time passed. The atmosphere was really calm and much better. In the North, Swana and Curtis also ran the regional government well.

"I'm glad everything ended well even though I can't see Noel anymore," Swana murmured.

She held her baby in her arms. Her face showed the sadness of not being able to save Noel. No, it was more like she was sad that she couldn't prevent Noel's reckless actions from causing her to be punished by the people.

"There must be sacrifice for a great cause," said Curtis. He honestly did not regret planning the revolution.

"Yeah, I just hope things go well in Samuel's hands."

"I guarantee he will do his best. Because he is a very reliable man."

"I can also see his ability. Otherwise, he won't be your confidant for long."

Curtis hugged Swana and kissed her. Then he looked at his son. "I promise everything will be fine and dandy."

Yes, Curtis was not going to let this go. So he vowed to keep the peace for Swana and his son.

The end.
