Chapter 40
Aleksander’s POV
I was happy from the bottom of my heart that Elisabeth survived. If it was the only gift the moon goddess would have granted me in my lifetime, I wouldn't have given it a second thought before accepting it. I wanted to bathe her but she wouldn't allow me. After she had sent me out, I called the doctor to inform him of Elisabeth waking. He had pleaded with me that he would arrive as soon as he was done with the surgery. I even want to be angry. I was too happy to be angry.
When I saw Ava seated in the living room. She wasn't doing anything. She was just staring at the ceiling. I have ignored her because I was angry that she didn't keep my mate when I trusted her with it. But then I needed someone to go start with her while she bathed because I know she hasn't regained her strength. Ava didn't notice me at all and I wondered what got her so lost in thought. Well, that's none of my business. All I want is for her to go meet my woman.
"Ava" I called her.
Hearing my voice, she jumped to her feet.
"Alek" she called me hastily.
That reaction was because for two weeks now I haven't spoken to her. Now me calling her one must have got her so scared.
"Lisa is awake, go meet her," I said and didn't wait for her reaction before I walked away.
But I still saw how she bolted inside like a thunderstorm. She must be happy. Well, she's also close to Lisa and Lisa seems to trust her more than anyone else.
Now that my woman is awake, I need to fix myself. I must return back to her like the original me. I had taken a look at myself in the mirror and I was looking like a demon.
I took the car out of the garage and headed straight to the woods. What I needed to recover and heal fast is not good but raw meat and blood.
When I got to where my car could stop, I then went into the woods to hunt for meat. In no time I smelt a deer. That would be good for my quick recovery. I chased it hard and I caught it. I was breathless by the time I caught it because I was weak. I pulled its head out and started to eat the meat raw.
Soon I hungrily devoured the meat, then I lay there to relax. Just as I thought, my strength began to come back and that also meant that all my pale look and reduced cheeks had all come back to normal. All these were within a few minutes. When I saw that my strength was back, I pulled out the bloody clothes. I wouldn't want Lisa to see him in such a way. I don't want to scare her. I burnt all the clothes and wore the extra clothes I had in my car, then I drove home.
When I got home, I didn't want to appear in front of her looking tattered. I then went to Nicholas's room and took a nice bath. Looking at the mirror I was satisfied with myself, then I headed to the room. On my way, I saw Victoria. She was shocked to see that I have recovered. I was still angry with her too, although I feel apologetic for what I did to her but then I still didn't want to talk to her.
"I see that you've decided to move on," she said to me looking at me with a smile on her face.
I frowned at her. I know that for her to say that she must have not heard that my Lisa is awake. Well, I wasn't ready to tell her though, I just walked away.
When I got to the room I saw the doctor already there examining Elisabeth. Didn't he tell me he had surgery and that he won't come until later?
Seeing that I was the one who entered, he and the nurses he brought bowed.
"Didn't you say you won't come until later?" I asked him.
" The one I wanted to do surgery for, went to eat behind my back and if I hadn't checked himself, he would have died. So I just postponed the surgery till tomorrow" he replied.
I nodded at his words and went to sit beside Lisa. She was looking at me with surprise registered on her face. I know she would have been shocked at my drastic change.
The doctor and his nurses left after he had told me that Lisa was fine. Ava, who was seated there, quickly stood up and left.
One thing I know about my sister is, no matter how bossy she gets, when it comes to my anger and rage, she always avoids me. She wouldn't even move close.
I know with the way she hurried away, Lisa was going to question me.
"How come you are looking so transformed or did my eyes deceive me earlier?" She asked me, looking at him intensely.
I took her hand and pulled her to myself.
"You shouldn't bother about that baby," I said to her smiling.
" What did you do?" She asked me.
I knew she wasn't going to give up until I found something to tell her. I wasn't going to tell her that I ate a whole deer to the bone without cooking it. It might disgust her. I kissed her forehead.
"I'm an Alpha wolf baby. I can recover when I am ready to" I replied.
She was looking at me. I think my words weren't as convincing as the kiss I gave her on her forehead. She was mute and I could see her cheek stained with blush and she tried to hide her face but I stopped her by holding her jaw.
I gave her a deep kiss on the lips. That was when I realized how hungry I was for her lips but I didn't want to rush her and I broke the kiss.
"I miss you so much," I said, hugging her.
" I miss you too," she said to me in her small voice.
Looking at her again, I couldn't resist claiming her lips. This time it was deeper and she accepted me into her mouth hungrily. I would have wished to press further than she's still weak.
I broke the kiss and she gave me her exclusive shy smile. I looked at the food on the table.
"Have you eaten?" I asked her.
She then shook her head.
" Why?" I asked her with a frown.
"I was waiting for you to return," she said to me.
That moved me but then she shouldn't have waited for me. She needed food to recover her strength. I was angry at Ava again.
"You shouldn't have. Why would you wait?" I said, trying to smother my anger.
She took my hands.
"Don't get angry at her. I'm too stubborn for her to control" she said.
I liked her and smiled.
" Stubborn baby," I said, pulling her nose slightly.
She gave me a pout and she looked so cute.
"Now let's eat," I said to her.
I felt a bit guilty because I already devoured a whole deer and yet Lisa was waiting for me. We then started to eat.
"Thank you," she said out of the blue.
"For what?" I asked.
"For staying by my side all those days. For taking care of me by yourself. I'm really grateful" she said to me showing her grateful emotions.
That big mouth Ava must have told her that I was the one taking care of her. I didn't want her to know because I didn't want her to feel indebted to me. She must have also told her that I haven't eaten for days now, that's why she was waiting for us to eat together. What a big mouth Ava!
I dropped the cutleries I held and then turned to get them.
"You are my woman and everything I did is not only for you but for myself. You are my happiness and I have to keep you safe so not thanks, baby. It's making me feel like you are not accepting me" I said to get.
She looked at me and her eyes glistened with happiness.
"No, I accept you," she said quickly.
Wow! That was so cunning of me. I had told her to be mine without me having to prepare a long speech to convince her. I know she isn't aware of what I just did but I was happy. I'm not the only one who wants her, she also wants me. I smiled at her and we continued eating.
"You should forgive Ava, it wasn't her fault. It was just a mishap" she said as we ate.
Then my anger at Ava grew.
"No, it wasn't. She and Victoria failed at their duty and I won't easily forgive them" I said, smothering my anger.
I didn't want to shout as I was feeling it so that it won't look like she was the one I'm angry at.
"Ava tried to protect me but then just as I was about to escape, one of the rogues pulled me back and I was trying to call Victoria but he wouldn't let me. Victoria had thought that I was already out. It wasn't their fault please" she explained pleading.
Hearing what happened I still didn't see any protection that they did there. I was seriously angry and I wasn't going to let go but if I told Lisa that, she would keep on begging so I just nodded as if I agreed with her.
When we finished eating, I made her lie down to sleep. I didn't leave her side until she was asleep. Now it is time to go deal with Chris.
Victoria’s POV
Seeing Alek's back in shape, I smiled. I knew he was going to give up soon or later. I talked with him earlier and he didn't talk back to me. He must still be angry at me. Well, his anger will leave just as he had recovered himself. That alone was enough to make me jump. I just wish that b*tch could die off or stay in a coma forever.
I daydreamed in the living room, smiling to myself. Now that Alek has recovered, everyone will. This house will stop looking like the house of a mourner. Just as I sat down, I saw Ava approach, she had this big smile on. This made me wonder what was going on.
First, it was Alek returning back to his state and now it is Ava who has been sulking for weeks now, turning to smile. I know I wanted everyone to recover but then, this recovery is too suspicious. I focused on her to know the reason she was wearing a big smile.
"What's up?" I asked her.
I couldn't wait for you to tell me. I needed to know because curiosity was almost killing me.
"Lisa is finally awake," she told me with so much excitement.
My heart broke immediately. This wasn't the news I was expecting. I quickly smiled so that Ava wouldn't suspect that I was sad.
"Wow! That's good news" I said, faking happiness.
Deep down in my heart, my heart beat faster. I know that I'm already in trouble. If that girl starts to talk to them, if Ava didn't kill me, Alek is sure going to rip my neck off my body. I was so restless but I tried to hide it. I'm so done.
"Yes, it is. After two weeks of thinking she won't survive" Ava said.
Looking at how Ava was happy, I'm sure that girl had bewitched her. She's not someone to make friends with quickly, how then will she make friends with just a slave?
"I'm so happy for her and now this house wouldn't be looking so bitter," I said still with my smile.
" Yes and most importantly, Lisa would be able to tell us why she was stuck in that room after I paved the way for her, '' Ava said.
It was as if thunderstruck my heart. I almost wanted to fall off the chair but I folded my hands and tried to control my feelings. Ava must not see any uneasiness in me, if not, she would suspect something. At least I want to look pure in front of them before that b*tch opens her mouth to say something to them.
"Are you still suspecting me?" I asked her like I was sad.
Ava shook her head but her look betrayed her.
"No. I only wanted to know. At least that will free us from Alek's anger" she replied.
What she said was right but it was at my own risk. I need to talk to that slave before anyone else does.
