Chapter 274
After a moment of contemplation, Philip and Spencer both wore expressions of confusion.
Their memories were sharp, and they were certain they had seen that figure before.
Only Isabella furrowed her brow and said, "He is my future husband. How could you possibly know him? He's a legendary figure, unlikely to have any connection with you."
After Isabella's words, everyone felt a bit uneasy but had to nod in agreement because what she said made sense.
The instructor was a big shot; how could he have crossed paths with these people?
At that moment, Stephen handed a glass of water to the instructor. Despite being a government official from Rock State, he didn't feel embarrassed by his actions; in fact, he felt honored.
Normally, a waiter would have done this, but Stephen took it upon himself.
He had been preparing for this moment for a long time.
So, he approached Leon with the glass of water and bent down.
According to etiquette, Stephen couldn't look at Leon's face. However, his curiosity got the best of him, and he couldn't resist lifting his head.
But when he saw Leon's face clearly, he was shocked and fell to the ground, sweat beading on his forehead.
Oh my God, it was Leon? Why was it Leon? How could it be Leon?
Stephen was beyond shocked; even though he was usually composed, he had never experienced such a profound shock before.
Feeling like jelly all over, Stephen tried to say something but couldn't.
Raymond furrowed his brow and led Stephen back to his seat. But Stephen was still in shock, completely out of it.
Seeing Stephen like that, the people present were all puzzled.
"What's wrong with Stephen? He seems to be greatly frightened?" someone asked.
"Is it because the instructor is too handsome and scared him?" someone doubted.
"Stephen looks ridiculous, doesn't he? Among all these people, he's the only one who fell," someone retorted.
People whispered among themselves, and the members of the Clark Family had grim expressions, completely baffled by Stephen's behavior.
Charlotte furrowed her brow and angrily said, "What a useless guy, embarrassing himself in front of so many people!"
Because of Stephen's reaction, no one dared to look at Leon's face again.
But the ceremony continued, with some guests taking the stage to speak.
After the guests had finished speaking, Sebastian finally stepped onto the stage, standing there with a serious expression.
Martin took the stage and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome the Marine Corps instructor to the stage for a speech. Let's give him a round of applause."
The audience started clapping, and the room was filled with enthusiastic applause. The soldiers were excited because the instructor was about to award Sebastian a medal, a day worth remembering.
At that moment, Leon finally stood up, walked towards the stage, and slowly turned around.
The people below trembled with excitement; they could finally see the instructor's face, feeling incredibly honored.
But then, Sebastian suddenly shouted, "You bastards!"
His voice was loud, like thunder, exuding a strong presence that startled many, even bringing tears to some.
Many quickly lowered their heads, only daring to look at Leon's lower legs.
The soldiers could only see a blurry image of Leon's face, not very clearly.
But they harbored no resentment because they understood Sebastian's reasons for doing so.
The instructor was a legendary figure, and looking directly at his face would be disrespectful.
Although the instructor might not care, Sebastian, being his subordinate, would not allow any disrespect towards him.
Calmly, Leon said, "Sebastian, everyone is here for the ceremony. Don't scare them."
Sebastian nodded and said, "I understand, instructor."
The tension eased a bit, but people still didn't dare to look at Leon's face.
By now, they understood they weren't entitled to see Leon's face.
Then, Leon took out some documents and a medal, saying, "I declare that from today, Sebastian is officially the Commander of the Rock State military, in charge of all Rock State forces!"
After Leon finished speaking, Sebastian was thrilled; this was the highest honor he had received so far.
Leon then pinned the medal on Sebastian, symbolizing his future role in guarding Rock State.
Smiling, Leon said, "Sebastian, keep up the good work in the future, okay?"
"I understand, instructor. Thank you," Sebastian said excitedly.
Leon nodded and didn't rush off but instead looked at the crowd, saying, "Today, Sebastian officially takes office, which is a good thing. Don't rush to leave; there's wine and delicious food prepared outside. Go and enjoy. Also, I know some of you want to talk to me. Please come in order."
With that, Leon left, still surrounded by the four generals.
Raymond gestured, and soldiers escorted the dazed Stephen away.
Damian gathered his courage and approached, asking, "Sir, what happened to my dad?"
The soldier replied, "Your father was overwhelmed by the instructor, frightened. He'll probably need treatment at the hospital for a while, maybe a few months. You should thank the instructor; otherwise, Stephen might have died by now."
"What?" Damian was shocked. While he knew the instructor was formidable, he never expected Stephen, who was just curious to see the instructor's face, to end up like this.
The members of the Clark Family were all shocked but dared not object.
Isabella worriedly asked, "Charlotte, will Stephen's injury affect our plan?"
She was concerned that Stephen's injury might prevent her from getting close to the instructor.
Philip and Spencer also inquired, "Charlotte, with Stephen in this condition, can our plan still proceed?"
Charlotte's expression was grim because Stephen's injury was completely unexpected.
But she was a composed person and reassured them. "Don't worry. Even though Stephen is injured, everything is prepared. We can continue without him; it won't affect our plan. However, without Stephen cooperating with us now, it might be a bit troublesome later. So, be careful and don't offend the instructor, understand?"
Upon hearing this, Philip and the others breathed a sigh of relief, knowing they had prepared for this day for a long time.
