Chapter 263
"But making a move on Leon right now would draw too much attention, so don't worry. I'll get in touch with the Ford and Palmer families and let Leon live a few more days," Stephen said.
Charlotte raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Stephen sighed, "Mom, we just took over the Sunshine Group today. If Leon suddenly ends up dead, Caitlin's gonna suspect us for sure. Even though we're not scared, it's best not to stir up unnecessary trouble. We've already scored big this time, so we need to play it safe."
Despite the big win with the Sunshine Group, Stephen was keeping his cool.
Charlotte frowned. "The Clark Family can stay rational, but the Ford and Palmer families might not see it that way. And if Alexander asks us, what do we say?"
Stephen thought for a moment, then grinned, "Easy. I'll have the Angel City police keep investigating and make sure they stay on it. As for Alexander, I'll tell him that since the Palmer Family's plan flopped, we can't make a move right now. We'll wait until after the ceremony."
"Alright, we'll do it your way," Charlotte nodded firmly. With the Clark Family gaining so much, her top priority was protecting their interests.
Stephen then reached out to Philip and Spencer to fill them in.
When they heard the news, Philip and Spencer sat together, looking pretty annoyed.
They hadn't expected Damon to fail. After mulling it over, they agreed to Stephen's plan.
Stephen had a point, and more importantly, they didn't know Damon had been taken out of commission. If they had, the Palmer Family wouldn't have let Leon off so easily.
Meanwhile, Bradley had wrapped up his investigation and called Leon. "Mr. Corleone, I found out these mercenaries crossed the border into our country. They were hired by Damon, and the estate they were using belongs to the Ford family. Looks like the Clark Family is in on it too."
Leon quickly pieced it together. These three families had teamed up to take him out.
He couldn't quite figure out why, since he didn't have such deep beef with them. And Connor's style wasn't usually this aggressive, so Leon quickly guessed that Alexander was the mastermind.
Realizing Alexander had come back to Angel City, Leon was livid. He hadn't gone to Crystal City to deal with Alexander, yet Alexander had the nerve to come back to Angel City.
"Alright, I get it. After the ceremony, I'll head to Crystal City. Some people are willing to risk national security for their own gain. When I get to Crystal City, I'll make sure they pay!" Leon's eyes turned icy cold. He hadn't wanted to mess with certain people, but they had come after him, and now he was furious.
When Caitlin got home, she looked around at the familiar surroundings, her expression a mix of emotions.
She had been living in Angel City, but soon all of this would be gone.
Having lost the Sunshine Group, she couldn't afford the rent for this big house. But Caitlin had no regrets because she had ensured Leon's safety.
Over the years, Caitlin had come to accept Leon. Due to certain reasons, they hadn't been living as a normal married couple, but that didn't mean she had no feelings for him.
Especially after those bad guys had kidnapped Leon, Caitlin had been extremely worried. She never wanted to experience that kind of pain again.
So she began to hesitate. Maybe tonight she should be with Leon, creating a beautiful memory for both of them.
Thinking of this, Caitlin blushed, making Leon curious about what she was thinking.
Leon asked, "Hey, what's up? I'm fine, you don't need to worry."
Caitlin replied, "I'm okay, just a bit emotional. Is there anything you'd like to eat tonight? I'll cook for you."
Leon smiled and said, "Anything you make will be delicious to me."
Even though Caitlin's cooking wasn't great, Leon still said that.
As they were chatting, there was a sudden urgent knock on the door.
Leon opened the door to find Matthew and Samara storming in, looking furious.
"Caitlin, are you out of your mind? Why did you do this?" Samara demanded angrily.
"Why didn't you discuss it with us first? Do you want us to end up homeless?" Samara continued, glaring at Caitlin.
Matthew stood beside her, looking deeply disappointed.
Caitlin bit her lip, unsure of how to respond.
Leon, now annoyed, said, "Matthew, Samara, what's going on? Why are you yelling at Caitlin?"
Matthew looked at Leon coldly and said, "Don't you get it? To find you, Caitlin agreed to give the Clark Family her shares in the Sunshine Group for free. Now she has nothing. Leon, this is all your fault. Because of you, Caitlin is in this situation. If she hadn't married you, we'd be living a good life. But because of you, we're going to be homeless."
Matthew and Samara's eyes were filled with resentment. They were very vain and couldn't accept that Leon had ruined their chance at a luxurious life.
Leon said, "I admit I did attract some trouble, but I can handle it myself. No one saved me; I dealt with Damon and left. The Clark Family didn't help me at all. Caitlin, the Clark Family lied to you. Let's go to the Clark Mansion and get your shares back. We can't let them get away with this."
Caitlin was surprised by Leon's words.
Could it be that the Clark Family had indeed deceived her and that Stephen hadn't actually saved Leon?
After thinking for a moment, Caitlin realized Leon made a lot of sense. Stephen had promised to find Leon within 24 hours, but Leon had shown up in just one hour.
