Chapter 44

Laura Brando narrating:

My eyes were fixed on Edgar's, my dry lips prevented me from answering him what I was doing there, I couldn't just tell him that I had been driven by the desire to see him.

"I came to the real estate agency." I replied dryly, still unable to continue on my way. Looking at the market bag Edgar was carrying, the piece of cake he always brought me filled one of them. "Would you give Débora the piece of cake you used to give me?" I couldn't hide the tears of hurt that ran down my cheeks.

"No... we're not together anymore, Débora cheated on me with my own father. I buy a piece of cake every time I miss her. I walk into the bakery with a smile on my face, thinking along the way what stupid phrase I'm going to say to you when I hand you the cake, what a hypocrite, I could simply tell you that it's only because I like to see your smile when you feel remembered... but when I go into the apartment, I'm content to eat it remembering you." Edgar spoke with a smile on his lips.

"How did you feel? When Deborah cheated on you?" I asked.

"I believed in Karma. That I deserved it. I didn't love Deborah, so I suffered for having caused you the same pain, not for her... Are you with Aron?"

Edgar was no longer the same, the audacity he contained had been ripped from him, it was at that moment that I understood that we now shared the same pain, the difference being that he didn't hurt from Deborah's betrayal, but from guilt. Looking into his eyes I could feel my two most intense feelings colliding in my chest, that of hating him, because in a way he could have told me the truth, we could have talked about everything, we could be living our normal lives at war with our next-door neighbors, or laughing at her sadomasochistic phrases on Friday nights. But the fact that I couldn't hate the moments when he was good for me, that sure punched the hatred.

"Don't look at me with your silence Laura... I love you... tell me you came back because you still have feelings, and we'll run away..." Edgar said, taking my hands in his.

His touch made me realize that I needed to blind my eyes, which only saw a sweet Edgar who brought cake on Tuesday afternoons, or after yelling at me because I interrupted his video game game. His betrayal gave birth to a woman in me who craves a man, not in physique, but in presence, a man who allows me to feel safe, not questioning why he was fifteen minutes late.

"I loved you Edgar... but your love destroyed me as much as your mistake made me right. I can't go back to what once made me bleed. Your sad eyes reveal nothing more than the pain I once felt caused, like a mirror. I wanted you so much, I needed you so many nights, while you were by my side, texting Deborah about how problematic I am... you don't have to blame yourself for causing me any pain, Aron cured them, and gave me what I never had... an orgasm! In fact, he gives me lots and lots of orgasms."

Lowering my glasses, I continued on my way, smiling. Because Edgar's pain had somehow made me see that I had come out on top, that I hadn't been a fool, but he had, by choosing a woman that everyone can have, even his father.

"A... Edgar, I'm glad you now have the displeasure of having Deborah as your stepmother, you should know what she did with your father's business partner..." I couldn't miss the opportunity to celebrate the fact that I had finally torn Jason and his love away from my chest.

I wanted to relive the good times, the looks, but what was the point of reliving them if with every smile Edgar also pulled a tear out of me.

Aron Curry narrating:

"Hi... you won't believe it, I bought the things to cook for you today, in celebration of finding the perfect house!" smiling Laura said as she sat down next to me on the stairs. How her touch gave me more security than a bulletproof vest.

"Laura, we need to talk." I muttered in disbelief that I would have to tell her that I had sold her to my twin brother.

"What happened, Aron?" Laura blurted out. Like someone putting on a bulletproof vest, Lara went to war.

How I hated to generate that tremor, to feed my ego, so as not to convince myself that I was a failed man.

"Jason... He came here today to sort out the mafia business, I told him it's my priority. But he wants me to resign and become a mere employee of a front company..."

"Aron, I chose you knowing that you're a mobster, I chose a mobster... I don't want you to be an employee for me, you know that in the mafia there are means you can use to protect me..."

Laura supported me in a way that I've never been supported, I clearly saw the unbearable need inside me, even though my father chose me I made him turn against Jason because as a child it was Jason who got his attention. Maybe that's why I always want to be better than him, I had to play dirty to be better than him in my father's eyes. But I don't need that in Laura's eyes.

"Are you saying you don't want me to leave the mafia?"

"I'm saying that I love a mafioso, that I'll do what makes you happy... That I'll love you the way you want to be loved..." With every word Laura's body pressed against mine, still on that staircase, as her hands roamed me, her words were enough to ruin my erection.

"The men could arrive at any moment..." I whispered as I felt Laura sitting on me as I entered her calmly, slowly, feeling her lubrication, her scent and her breasts in front of me as her body rose and fell hard on me, her wicked moans, as I felt her getting wetter and wetter.

"I like danger Aron!" Laura moaned, thrusting her hips harder.
