Chapter 131 Chapter 131
Her smile became bigger. "Wow. Really? Will they do that? How fortunate are we to have collaborated with such a wonderful company? She smiled and raised her cat-eye-shaped glasses to the top of her head. "Good luck with your journey, Jothea. Just provide me the file containing your leave form with the details, and I'll sign it for you."
"Thank you, Miss Sapphire."
I said my goodbyes to her before leaving the office. I was about to talk to my coworkers when they informed me that someone was waiting for me on the rooftop.
I rushed up to see who it was. When I spotted the back of a man standing near the rails, looking out at the city, I smiled.
"Ismael!" I called him. He turned to face me, and I noticed him drinking coffee.
I approached him. "Are you having coffee again?"
"They gave me this," he said, pointing to a paper cup that appeared to be empty, which he discarded. I can't help but appreciate him despite his lack of talent in such matters. He will accept any kind of coffee despite his richness.
I hugged him around the waist, inside his trench coat, and looked up to see his eyes fixed on me. "Oh, you are being clingy. Did you miss me?" he inquired.
I nodded. "Even if we only talked a bit ago. I did not expect you to come here. What led you here, Ismael? I thought you had meetings."
I wrapped myself in his trench coat as he hugged me. "You are the one I'm going to meet." I giggled when he hissed. "The meeting was just nearby, so I decided to come here to fetch you," he said to me. By the way, I hadn't realized it was midday. What time did I leave, and did Ismael enter the LMC earlier? "So, this is the company you chose over us?"
I tapped his chest. "Yes, this is, Ismael," I replied with a smile.
"Why?"
"What why?" My brows met as I asked him, but I smiled. "I'm not sure if I passed the application on your firm, because they didn't call me, so I assumed I wasn't actually. So I searched for someone else."
He shook his head, appearing frustrated, but it seemed he was simply taunting me. Haven't we already discussed these two? Besides, it's not my fault that I'm searching; otherwise, I'll be begging.
"But they told you they would call you, right?"
"But they didn't. If you haven't figured it out, they won't contact me. Then, after several weeks, I received their call: I need a job. Are you expecting me to abandon my current work merely to be there? No, I didn't even know whether they'd call me when they said they would. Do you understand me?"
He looked at me for a few seconds before speaking. "Yeah, I definitely get how your brain works now."
I gazed intently into his expressive eyes. "Jothea, if I say anything in the future, I want you to believe me. It takes a lot for me to make a promise, but if I do, I know that I will go to any lengths to keep it, okay? Do you understand?"
I closed my eyes and nodded. "I understand why you questioned me again about this. I am a lady with a lot of trust concerns in this world, and I appreciate how you consistently reassure me."
"You live by yourself, so I realize how difficult it is for you to trust or believe anyone. You are an independent woman, and I am concerned that if I leave you again without warning, you will forget about me and my promises."
"How could I forget you? Why are you telling me these things? Do you want me to cry?" I asked him this question because the pain was gnawing at my nose. I have a feeling that he's about to leave me again, so he's likely preparing me for something. My overthinker has resumed operations. "Will you leave me?"
He shakes his head. "I will not do it again. I promise."
I bit my lip and tried not to cry, but a tear or two escaped my eyes, which he quickly saw. He wiped it off. "Trust me, okay?"
"Alright. I will. I promise."
I clutched firmly to Ismael's hand. The air is palpable; I am on the verge of fainting from nerves. This is my first flight, and I can't help but feel scared. Despite the fact that our flight was safe, I couldn't help but be concerned after seeing plane disaster films the night before.
"I'm here," Ismael said quietly to me. I applaud him for securing a first-class seat for both of us. I even stopped him since it was too expensive, but he stated the flight was lengthy and we should sit in first class. If it's short, he'll be frugal and choose economy. Who is he trying to fool?
Anyway, here I am again, being suspicious. This should be my stop. I should believe what he says.
"That's why I told you not to watch some of those videos," he said, laughing. "Relax." He kissed the side of my forehead and squeezed my hand tightly.
However, my chilly sweats continued for a few minutes. Ismael was telling me stories to help me overcome my fear of heights, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get the nervousness out of my chest. I'm crying now, like an overreacting person. I swear, I do not want this. I wish I could have stopped it and been okay, but I can't.
I looked at Ismael as he abruptly closed the door. I was going to ask him when he suddenly approached me and kissed me.
"Ismael, what are you doing?" I inquired between his lips. I continued rubbing his shoulder, hoping he'd stop, but he didn't.
"I'm doing my best to alleviate your concerns," he muttered. His knees were lying on the seat between my legs, and his hands were on the side of my seat. He kisses me passionately and deeply. I only grimaced while kissing him back.
"But someone might see us," I explained.
"No, but rather, they might hear you if you're too loud." I was astonished when he scooped me up. I just covered my mouth as I yelled.
"Excuse me, sir and madam. Is something wrong?" I overheard the cabin crew asking from the back door. It is still knocking.
"No, we're fine," Ismael replied before turning to me. "I told you to lower your voice."
"Sorry."
