Chapter 415 Mind Breach

Chapter 415 Mind Breach
Hope Elara's POV

My vision was still blurry.

My head throbbed with every heartbeat, and my whole body felt heavy.

The doctor checked my blood pressure and the rest of my vitals.

That had been terrifying.

And that woman...

How dare she talk to me like I needed her approval?

Stupid bitch.

My mind kept replaying what had happened.

Nothing like that had ever happened before.

Whenever I had visions, I was only a witness.

I never spoke to anyone.

No one ever saw me.

And they definitely never spoke back.

"Hope Elara?"

Valduz rushed into the room with Elliot and Maria close behind him.

"Is she okay?"

"Her blood pressure is a little high," Allison answered. "I think it's because she was on the verge of shifting."

She glanced toward Mr. Valduz.

"Your father took most of the damage."

Was I really that close to shifting?

I had completely lost control.

Just like I did when Alpha Tec stood in front of me.

What could possibly be worse than everything I had already lived through?

And if my mother was trying to protect us...

Why did she have more children?

Why did she leave all of us behind?

"I'm okay," I said quietly.

"What happened?" Valduz asked, unable to hide the worry in his voice.

"We were just talking," Allison said softly.

"Then her eyes turned silver."

"I've never seen anything like it."

"Can you all give us a minute?" I asked.

"All of us?" Mr. Valduz asked.

"Yes."

I took a slow breath.

"I need to talk to Nathan."

I leaned forward, and the room tilted again.

"Are you feeling sick?"

Valduz rubbed my back.

Maria quietly closed the door, leaving the two of us alone.

He sat beside me.

All I wanted to do was curl up against him and cry.

"Can you call Derek?" I asked.

"I think this is something he needs to hear too."

"We're... kind of the same."

"Yeah."

He pulled out his phone.

"Is Hope Elara okay?" Derek asked the moment he answered.

"Hey."

I took the phone from Valduz.

"Something happened."

"I felt it," Derek replied immediately.

"What was it?"

"Who did you come into contact with?"

"Our connection gets stronger every time we meet."

"You know about that?" I asked.

Mr. Valduz had never wanted to mention it to Derek.

He thought it showed a weakness.

What if Derek couldn't do it?

What if it made him jealous?

"Yeah."

"I thought you already knew."

"Isn't that why your training has been improving so much?"

"Yeah... I guess it is."

I hesitated.

"But this was different."

"How?"

"Have you ever talked to someone inside the memories?"

Please...

Please say yes.

"No."

My heart sank.

Great.

Maybe I really was losing my mind.

"I saw her."

"I saw Eliza."

"And she told me she'd been trying to get into my head for years."

"For years?" Derek asked.

"What did she want?"

"I'm not sure."

"She mostly talked about how we're all connected."

"We're the only Silverbacks in the family, right?"

"Just the two of us," Derek answered.

"Ace and Omen aren't exactly normal wolves either."

I frowned.

"What does that mean?"

I didn't even know my other two brothers' names until recently.

I had been too nervous to ask.

And what if they didn't want me around?

It had taken Derek a long time just to accept me.

"Ace is..."

He sighed.

"Whatever the hell Crysal was."

"Perry's wolf thinks he might become a Shadow."

"And Omen..."

"His wolf is only starting to awaken."

"It feels like he's just an aristocrat by blood."

"A Shadow?" I asked.

"I've heard of them, but I never really asked about them."

"Do you have any connection to the Shadow Wolves?" Valduz asked.

"I don't," Derek answered.

"They don't work with the hierarchy."

He paused.

"What about you?"

"Yeah," Valduz replied.

"I do."

"How is he?"

"He's fourteen."

Fourteen?

I have a fourteen-year-old brother?

Where is he?

How has he been living through all of this?

"Bring him with you next time," Valduz said.

"I can examine him here and contact the person I know."

"Shit. Thanks, man."

Derek let out a breath.

"So... what did our psycho mother say?"

I rubbed my forehead.

The question made my chest tighten.

"She got into my head, Derek."

"She used my fear of failing as Alpha."

"She said we shared that fear."

"Then she showed me this memory."

"My packhouse was burning."

"It started the moment Allison touched my hand."

"I could hear her screaming."

"Everyone was dead."

"I was heavily pregnant."

"Allison kept telling me to run."

"The whole house was on fire."

"I couldn't find the kids anywhere."

I closed my eyes.

"It felt completely real."

"I thought it was something that was going to happen."

"And she just stood there..."

"As if I was supposed to run to her."

"She kept talking."

"I lost my temper."

"I attacked her."

I let out a slow breath.

"But in the real world..."

"I attacked Arnold instead."

Derek snorted.

Valduz couldn't hold back a grin.

"She sliced him right across the chest," Valduz said with a laugh.

"Scared his balls right back into his body."

"Focus," I growled.

Both of them immediately quieted down.

"This woman was inside my head."

"We know almost nothing about her."

"She's supposed to be dead."

"Okay."

Derek's voice turned serious.

"We need to think this through."

"I honestly don't know what to tell you."

"That's never happened to me."

He paused.

"Is the baby okay?"

"Yeah."

I rested a hand on my belly.

"I'm getting an ultrasound in a little while."

"Midnight isn't worried."

"She's just... shaken."

"So am I."

"Okay."

"I still have a few things to finish here."

"I'll try to bring Omen with me."

"We'll be there in a couple of days."

He hesitated.

"And please..."

"Please think about my offer."

"The nannies."

"I know you're scared."

"But we need this."

"You're carrying too much stress."

"And that's not good for the baby."

His voice softened.

"You're part of the pack now."

"We take care of our own."

"I'm not asking you to say yes today."

"Just promise me you'll think about it."

"Really think about it."

"I'll see you both soon."

"And tell Mel..."

"I love her."
