Chapter 322 Ann, Happy Birthday
When Joey, who was at the side, heard this, he waved for the men to go down.
Joey turned to look at Phillip, who looked cold. "Phillip, Abbey's condition has stabilized recently. She is fine now. Since she secretly returned to the country alone, she must have her plans."
After a pause, Joey looked slightly serious. "The problem now is, have you thought of how to treat her?"
Phillip looked up at Joey with a firm look.
"Joey, I have kids and a woman I want to marry."
"But you're the only one she has now."
Abbey came from a wealthy family and was always the center of attention. Then she lost the most important thing to her because of that incident and even suffered from mental illness.
Her family was afraid of losing face and sent her abroad to treat her illness.
No matter how strong the woman was, these kinds of things were powerful enough to ruin the woman's life.
Phillip's brows suddenly furrowed, forming a deep ditch. The atmosphere in the office was a little stagnant.
There were footsteps outside the office door that had not been closed tightly. Phillip got up and looked at the crowd below the tall building. His voice was calm as usual.
"Joey, she still has the Quelch family. She has her parents and family."
"But you know that back then..."
"Back then, I owed her, so I promised to avenge her. No matter what she wants, I can give her..." When Phillip said this, his tone was low, cold, and solemn.
"But Joey, my heart went to someone else more than ten years ago," he said, staring at Joey.
He only had one heart, and could not give it to another woman.
When Phillip was young, he met Ann. She was innocent and warm. If it were not for her, he might have been an illegitimate child who would grow up in darkness. With unwillingness and anger, he would become a victim of the power struggle of the Moore family, or a dark and cold-blooded playboy.
He wanted to become better. He hoped to have an honorable identity that could match her warmth and beauty.
Joey looked at Phillip, whose eyes were calm. Phillip's palms relaxed and tightened as he thought of a certain beautiful memory.
Joey thought of the time when he had helped Phillip to take care of Abbey abroad all these years. When she was in the most serious condition, she could not listen to anything, but only reacted when she heard Phillip's name.
Joey could not bear to see Phillip in a difficult situation, but Abbey...
When it came to love, everyone was doomed!
As if agitated, Joey took off his gold-rimmed glasses. And his whole temperament instantly returned to the ruthlessness in the ring when Ann first met him.
"Okay! Okay! I heard that tomorrow is Ann's birthday. Are you gonna celebrate it?"
Phillip thought of something and his eyes softened. "Now is not the time. If you have time, we can have lunch together."
He wanted to celebrate Ann's birthday. And he hoped to give Ann an identity. He wanted to marry her and announce to everyone that she was his.
But now that the situation was tense, he had to remove all the obstacles.
Then he would do what an ordinary man would do. He would propose to her, prepare for the wedding... She could marry him and stand beside him.
Moreover, he had selfish motives. He and Ann had been through a lot. But they never spent her birthday night together. He did not want others to disturb them.
Joey understood. He snorted, "I don't have time. No one wants to have lunch with you! I will get someone to send her a gift tomorrow!"
...
When Ann arrived at the hospital, the sky had just darkened.
Daisy was in the VIP room on the 13th floor. The corridor was relatively quiet and empty.
Through the small glass window on the door of the ward, Ann found that there was no light inside and it was a little dim.
She took a step back and looked at the door number again. It was 301. There was no mistake.
She knocked lightly on the door. There was no movement inside. She tried to pull the doorknob. Just as she opened a crack, there was a force inside that pulled the door open.
Before Ann could react, there was a series of banging sounds inside. The light suddenly lit up, and there was a circle of ribbons on her hair and body.
She blinked her eyes in shock. After adapting to the light in the room, she found that the originally clean and simple ward had many colorful balloons and ribbons on the white walls around it.
There were a few large words written on the empty wall in the middle of the room, "Happy Birthday!"
Then there was a huge cake about the height of a person.
If there were no words on the wall, it did not look like a birthday, but more like a wedding ceremony, which was particularly festive.
"Ms. Ann, happy birthday." It was Matt, who was still wearing a white coat and had just rushed over from a crime scene.
"Happy birthday, Ms. Ann." Kelly, who appeared here on the grounds of going on a date with her boyfriend, was also here.
Todd was still holding an inflatable stick in his hand. He stuck his head out to look behind Ann and laughed.
"Hey, Phillip let you come alone."
Ann looked up at Daisy, who was leaning against the bed and looked much better.
Daisy picked up a pillow next to her and threw it at Todd, "Who told you to do all this?"
She believed that Todd would be able to have a nice birthday celebration and agreed to leave the ward to them to prepare during the day.
Todd caught the pillow with a flattering smile on his face and placed the pillow under Daisy's back again.
"When I went to order the cake, there happened to be a store selling decorations next to it. So, I bought lots of them. Isn't this what people do on TV for birthday surprises? I think it's pretty good. It's so festive!"
Daisy rolled her eyes. She looked at Todd, who was dressed in a very trendy manner, and looked away.
'What a taste!' Daisy thought to herself.
She sighed and looked up at Ann. The corners of her eyes curved slightly. "Ann, happy birthday."
Ann blinked, trying to suppress the tears in her eyes.
In her memory, they seemed to have not gathered together for many years to celebrate her birthday like this.
When she was young, her father was busy working and making money. She often bought a birthday cake for herself. After going abroad, Karl and Fred would give her birthday presents, but they did not gather together to celebrate her birthday like this.
"Thank you."
She was not a kid anymore. Moreover, they were in the hospital. After everyone finished singing the birthday song, Kelly and Todd took the lead. They urged Ann to blow out the candles and make a wish. Then it was time to cut the cake.
"Fuck! Where's the cake cutting knife?"
"Did you leave it at the store?"
Matt's black eyes stared at the cake in front of him, and he seemed to have swallowed a mouthful of saliva.
After a moment of silence, he took out a small scalpel.
"I have a knife."
