Chapter 187 Encountering Luna Again
Chapter 187 Encountering Luna Again
Kelly asked a question, and Hazel agreed without a second thought.
Today, Reminisce officially launched in the market, and the response so far has been quite positive.
It was definitely a day worth celebrating.
"If you're treating, I'm in."
Kelly replied, "Of course I'm treating if I'm inviting you to dinner!"
After this playful exchange, the atmosphere in the office lightened up a bit. Hazel temporarily set aside her concerns and continued with her work.
[Not coming home for dinner tonight. Kelly's treating.]
Hazel sent a message to Lawrence, and seeing that he hadn't replied, she assumed he was busy.
She didn't think much of it and went back to her tasks.
After finishing most of her work, Hazel finally received a reply from Lawrence.
[Alright, go ahead. I'll have Jason pick you up later.]
After sending this message, Lawrence went silent again, making Hazel sigh. He was indeed very busy.
As the end of the workday approached, Kelly came to the office early to wait for her.
"Let's go. I've already reserved a table at the restaurant, and they saved us a spot. It's all your favorite dishes."
Kelly said, and Hazel gave her a thumbs up.
That was why she liked Kelly.
After shutting down her computer, the two left the office and took the elevator downstairs.
The restaurant Kelly had booked was in Victory Square, just a short walk from the company.
When they arrived, the restaurant was already bustling with people. Fortunately, Kelly had made a reservation, so they had a table waiting for them.
Kelly and Hazel sat across from each other, and Kelly handed the menu to Hazel.
"Take a look and order whatever you like."
Kelly said generously.
Hazel flipped through the menu and saw that most of the dishes were indeed her favorites. Kelly had clearly put thought into choosing the restaurant.
With a smile, Hazel picked a few of her preferred dishes and handed the menu back to Kelly, signaling her to order as well.
Soon, Kelly called the waiter over to place their order.
While waiting for the food, they watched people passing by outside and chatted about gossip.
Hazel felt that this was a relaxing and enjoyable moment after a busy day at work.
"Hazel, how about we hit up a bar after dinner? I'll get you a male stripper."
Hazel was drinking water when she heard Kelly's suggestion and nearly choked.
"That's not necessary."
If Lawrence found out, the consequences might be serious.
Kelly, however, seemed unconcerned. "What's the big deal? Look, Lawrence can flirt with other women, so we should retaliate. What's wrong with checking out some hot guys?"
She then looked at Hazel in surprise and raised her voice.
"You're not scared, are you? Hazel, come on! Usually, wives keep their husbands in check, but with you, it's the other way around!"
The commotion attracted the attention of other diners, and several pairs of eyes turned towards Hazel.
At that moment, she felt the urge to punch Kelly.
"Shut your mouth!"
Hazel said irritably, giving Kelly a glare.
Realizing her voice was indeed a bit loud, Kelly smiled sheepishly.
"I was just joking. If you don't want to go, we won't. Why are you glaring at me? I was wrong, okay?"
Seeing Hazel still looking coldly at her, Kelly switched to a pleading tone.
Amused by Kelly's antics, Hazel burst into laughter.
"Isn't that Hazel? How come you're out for dinner without Lawrence?"
Suddenly, a sarcastic voice sounded beside them.
Hazel didn't need to look up to know who it was.
"Aunt Luna, it's been a while. You're still as nosy as ever."
Hazel lazily glanced at Luna, who turned livid with anger at Hazel's retort.
"Hazel!"
Hazel covered her ears and spoke with disdain, "Aunt Luna, why are you shouting? I'm not deaf. I'm still young; my hearing hasn't deteriorated."
Ever since Hazel married into the Johnson family, Luna had been nitpicking and criticizing her.
Whenever she had the chance, Luna wouldn't miss an opportunity to mock Hazel.
Although Hazel always managed to counter her, Luna seemed to never learn.
Even though Luna was an elder, Hazel found it hard to respect her.
"How dare you!"
Luna trembled with anger. Elliot, who was standing behind her, saw this and a strange look flashed in his eyes. He stepped forward, looking displeased at Hazel.
"Hazel, Aunt Luna is your elder. As Lawrence's wife, you should respect her. Otherwise, people might think the Johnson family lacks proper upbringing. If outsiders see this, they might think poorly of our family."
Hazel was speechless at Elliot's reprimand.
"Elliot, what are you talking about? As long as Aunt Luna doesn't provoke me first, no one will think the Johnson family lacks upbringing."
Hazel spoke fearlessly, "I was happily having dinner with my friend, but you ruined the mood. Anyone can see Aunt Luna started it. If people talk, they'll say Luna from the Johnson family is unstable and has poor character, yelling at a junior in public. What does that have to do with me?"
Elliot and Luna's faces stiffened at Hazel's words.
Hazel's sharp tongue could really infuriate people!
Kelly leaned back in her chair, enjoying the show.
She loved watching Hazel verbally counter people. Hazel could deliver barbed insults with a sly, sarcastic undertone.
Seeing the Johnson family's embarrassed faces was satisfying!
The more she saw them frustrated, the happier she felt.
Luna was about to curse when she remembered they were in a restaurant. She huffed and held back.
She couldn't stand Hazel, that bitch!
She couldn't understand what Lawrence saw in her to spoil her so much!
If it weren't for Lawrence backing her, Hazel would have been kicked out of the Johnson family long ago for treating elders like this.
Speaking of kicking out, Luna suddenly remembered the recent rumors.
She raised her chin arrogantly and looked at Hazel, then sneered, "You can be arrogant for a few more days. I heard your man is entangled in a complicated affair with another woman. If I were you, I'd be winning my husband back instead of dining here."
