Chapter 186 She Will Accompany Him
Chapter 186 She Will Accompany Him
The room was dead quiet except for Lawrence's voice; Hazel could barely hear anything else.
"Everyone was burned to death!"
Hearing this, Hazel felt a chill run down her spine.
She had visited that place when she was a kid, and there were quite a few people there.
"Was the fire accidental or intentional?" Hazel asked. Either way, a fire that claimed so many lives was incredibly cruel.
"It was most likely intentional," Lawrence's eyes flashed with coldness. Over the phone, his contact mentioned that Garth was fluctuating between moments of clarity and madness, making it impossible to get any crucial information from him.
To uncover the truth, Garth needed to regain his sanity.
"Who could be so deranged to set a fire that killed so many people?" Hazel's brows furrowed, her mind cursing the arsonist countless times.
"We don't know yet," Lawrence shook his head, though he had some suspicions. "Recently, I visited the burned-down Elysium Psychiatric Hospital and found a madman there. He was the only survivor from the hospital, but his mental state has been unstable. I believe he knows the reason behind the fire, so I took him to a doctor for treatment. Once he regains his sanity, I can find out the truth."
Lawrence shared the details about Garth, no longer keeping it from Hazel.
After hearing his words, Hazel felt a mix of emotions.
She hadn't expected such a twist!
But there was a silver lining.
At least one person survived the fire.
It was almost like a blessing from above!
Otherwise, the truth of what happened back then would have been buried with the fire.
"Do the doctors think they can help him recover?" Hazel asked after a moment.
Lawrence nodded, "The doctor was recommended by Stuart. I visited last time, and the madman has already shown some improvement. At least he knows his name now. We've waited this long; a little more time won't hurt."
Hazel moved closer and wrapped her arms around him.
"No matter what, I'll be by your side."
The warmth and softness of Hazel in his arms made Lawrence feel a bit better. He patted her shoulder.
"It's getting late. Let's get some rest."
Knowing he had a lot on his mind, Hazel nodded obediently. She went to her fragrance room and brought back a new sleep aid aroma she had created, placing it under Lawrence's pillow.
Learning about the Elysium Psychiatric Hospital incident, Hazel had some thoughts.
From what Lawrence said, it seemed the fire at Elysium Psychiatric Hospital was connected to his parents' deaths.
But Lawrence's parents died in a car accident. How could it be related to the fire?
The two events seemed completely unrelated.
And why did the arsonist kill everyone in the fire? What were they trying to cover up?
What could they possibly be hiding?
The following day, Hazel was deep in thought at the office.
"Hazel! What are you thinking about?"
At her desk, Kelly leaned forward, hands on the desk, calling Hazel several times.
Seeing Hazel still lost in thought, she reached out and tapped Hazel's shoulder.
Startled, Hazel quickly snapped back to reality.
She shivered, surprised to see Kelly standing there.
"Kelly, what are you doing here?"
Kelly rolled her eyes. "I've been here for a while, calling your name over and over. What were you thinking about, zoning out like that?"
Hazel was momentarily stunned, then smiled sheepishly.
"Sorry, I was lost in thought and didn't notice."
Lawrence's story from last night had really shaken her.
She had never known about the incident at Elysium Psychiatric Hospital before.
"Hazel, what were you thinking about?" Kelly asked, narrowing her eyes slightly.
Her intuition told her Hazel had learned something significant, otherwise she wouldn't be so distracted.
"Nothing much, just thinking about the acquisition of the Anderson Group. Stuart said Russell and his team are against it, and I'm trying to figure out how to get them to agree."
The Elysium Psychiatric Hospital incident and Lawrence's parents' deaths were connected, but she couldn't share that with anyone.
It wasn't that she didn't trust Kelly.
But the fewer people who knew about this, the better.
So she chose to keep it to herself.
Kelly's expression softened. "Russell and his team are against the acquisition because they think they'll lose out if the Anderson Group is bought. Even if the Anderson Group is struggling, they can still benefit from holding onto it."
"But the Anderson Group isn't just Russell. If he refuses to sell, it will hurt others' interests too. We can approach other stakeholders; we don't have to go through him."
Kelly's words echoed in the office.
Hazel's eyes lit up.
Of course!
Why hadn't she thought of that before?
It seemed her mind had been too overwhelmed lately.
Suddenly, Hazel stood up and quickly approached Kelly, blowing her a kiss.
"You're so smart, Kelly. I'll call Stuart right away."
With that, Hazel picked up the phone and called Stuart.
Kelly rubbed her arms, smiling helplessly, then went to make herself a cup of coffee.
When she returned, Hazel had finished her call.
"By the way, our new product launches today, right? Someone from the mall contacted me, wanting to stock our new items."
Kelly placed the extra cup of coffee in front of Hazel and spoke.
She mainly handled business development for the company, and RH Aromatics was growing rapidly, becoming more well-known.
Now, many people were approaching RH Aromatics for collaboration.
Times were good, unlike before.
She used to run around trying to drum up business for RH Aromatics.
"That's great news! How's the situation with them?" Hazel asked with a smile. Kelly raised an eyebrow, "I checked them out. They're good, with high foot traffic."
"Then Ms. Ross can make the decision," Hazel said playfully. Kelly rolled her eyes at her, "You're the boss, of course I need to report to you! Anyway, I booked a restaurant for tonight. Want to join me for dinner to celebrate?"
