Chapter 184 Susan's Plan
Chapter 184 Susan's Plan
To his surprise, it was Lawrence and Hazel who walked in.
"Mr. Johnson, did I do something to tick you off?" Eddy asked, panicking, trying to remember if he'd done anything to upset Lawrence.
Lawrence raised his hand, signaling the bodyguards holding Eddy to step back.
"Eddy, I heard you've been having some trouble lately and are looking for Elliot's help?" Lawrence, sitting in his wheelchair, looked down at Eddy and asked slowly.
Eddy's pupils contracted sharply. Panic flashed in his eyes. "I... I don't know what you mean, Mr. Johnson."
Seeing Eddy's denial, Lawrence didn't get angry. Instead, he spoke gently, almost coaxingly.
"I think you're a smart guy. Instead of going to Elliot, why not come to me? I can offer you way more than Elliot."
Hazel watched Lawrence's confident demeanor, pursing her lips without saying a word. She was curious to see what Lawrence intended to extract from Eddy.
Eddy met Lawrence's gaze and shivered involuntarily. He could sense the threat hidden in Lawrence's seemingly gentle tone.
"Mr. Johnson, you're joking. I... I don't have anything that needs Elliot's help. Please, don't joke around."
Eddy forced down his fear, pulling a strained smile and pretending to be calm.
Upon hearing Eddy's continued denial, a cold glint flashed in Lawrence's eyes.
"Eddy, when I offer you respect, you'd better take it. Otherwise, I won't be happy. I heard you were abroad for a long time. Why did you suddenly come back six months ago and become good friends with Elliot? Or did you come back specifically for your brother?"
Lawrence's casual remark successfully changed Eddy's expression.
"How do you know?" Eddy asked urgently. "Mr. Johnson, my brother is innocent. Please don't harm him."
Hazel observed Eddy's reaction and realized Lawrence had thoroughly investigated Eddy's situation.
Lawrence, who had been considering other ways to scare Eddy, now had a new idea after hearing Eddy's plea.
"Whether your brother stays safe depends on you. If you tell me what I want to know, I won't touch him."
Clearly, Eddy's brother was very important to him. Eddy hesitated for a moment, then made a determined decision. "Mr. Johnson, what do you want to know?"
"Tell me Susan's plan for coming back to the country."
Lawrence's straightforward question made Eddy's face flash with surprise and panic.
"Eddy, I found you because I know your connection to the Knight family. Tell me Susan's plan, or watch your brother get hurt. A smart person should know what to choose."
Lawrence's tone was full of warning, having anticipated Eddy's thoughts.
After a long pause, Eddy finally nodded.
"Okay, I'll tell you."
Eddy had been back for over six months and knew a bit about Lawrence. This demon, if angered, could bring disaster to his brother.
"The Knight family's overseas business has been struggling for over six months. They planned for Susan to come back and get close to your family, then snag the Johnson Group's confidential files to bankrupt you guys."
Eddy spilled Susan's entire plan without holding back.
Hearing this, both Hazel and Lawrence exchanged looks of realization.
"Mr. Johnson, I've told you everything. Can you let me go now?" Eddy asked, his face full of anxiety.
"Now tell me why you came back. You know Susan and her plan, so you must have your own agenda."
This time, Hazel spoke up.
Eddy hesitated. "I... I don't have any purpose."
His nervous tone was obvious. Hazel laughed. "Honey, look, he doesn't want to tell the truth."
Hazel's laughter sent chills down Eddy's spine.
Lawrence remained silent, just looking at him calmly.
"I... I just became friends with Elliot. I have no other purpose. I mean it! Susan asked me to come back and build a good relationship with Elliot to make things easier when the time comes. That's all. Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Johnson, my brother's safety is in your hands. I wouldn't dare lie!"
Eddy hadn't expected Lawrence to find out about his brother. This only highlighted Lawrence's terrifying capabilities.
Hazel and Lawrence exchanged glances, feeling they had extracted enough information from Eddy.
After signaling the bodyguards, Hazel pushed Lawrence out of the room.
Jason was waiting outside. Seeing them come out, he greeted, "Mr. and Mrs. Johnson."
"Let's head back," Lawrence said. After they got into the car, Jason drove them back to Emerald Heights Estate.
On the way back, Hazel seemed to want to say something several times. Lawrence glanced at her. "Hazel, what's on your mind?"
Seeing Lawrence notice her hesitation, Hazel decided not to hold back. "Didn't you plan for Eddy and the woman Elliot likes to sleep together? I thought you'd use that to threaten Eddy."
After asking, Hazel quietly watched Lawrence without saying more.
After a while, Lawrence's voice slowly filled the car. "That woman is just stringing Elliot along. Elliot, the fool, doesn't realize it."
Hazel was slightly stunned. Was that really the case?
At Emerald Heights Estate, the maid had just finished cleaning the kitchen when she heard the car pulling in. She wiped her hands and walked out.
"Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, you're back. Dinner is ready. Please eat!"
Hazel saw the sumptuous meal on the table, the aroma making her hungry. "Thank you, you've worked hard."
The maid quickly waved her hand. "It's not a big deal. You pay me so well; it's what I should do. I'll head home now and be back in the morning."
"Alright, be safe on your way," Hazel said. After the maid left, she and Lawrence sat down at the table to eat.
"Honey, now that we know Susan's plan from Eddy, what are you going to do next?"
