According to Victor's words, he was implying that Sophia had seduced Paul. What did this have anything to do with her?
Sophia was angry and wanted Victor to give her an explanation; however, Victor completely ignored her and said after the doctor finished treating Zach's wounds, "You can go home by yourself."
Zach looked up and asked, "What about Sophia? Can I take her with me?"
"No, you can't," Victor directly refused.
Zach lowered his head in disappointment and said, "Then I won't go. I'll wait for Sophia to finish work here."
Victor's gaze became even darker. His inherent authority made Zach, who was already somewhat afraid, even more frightened. However, the thought of staying to protect Sophia made Zach not afraid anymore.
"Uncle Victor, I won't interfere with you. I'll just wait nearby. I don't know if Paul will be waiting outside at this time. I want to make sure she gets home safely," Zach pleaded. "Please, just agree."
"This kind of woman is not worthy of your affection," Victor said bluntly in front of Sophia.
Sophia knew it in her heart, but she didn't need Victor to discuss her here. She said angrily, "I don't need Mr. Hastings to comment on what kind of person I am."
Victor turned around, his expression serious, obviously displeased with her retort.
Sophia didn't care whether he was angry or not. After all, she was already angry. Originally, she was working overtime without pay. According to normal working hours, she would have been off work at half-past five. It was already dark, and Sophia had finished work, which was already showing respect to Victor. There was no need to be humiliated by him!
Anyway, whether she was here or not made no difference!
Sophia said to Zach, "Thank you for helping me just now. I'll leave first." She couldn't bear to be here for even one more minute.
As Sophia walked further away, Zach quickly chased after her. His leg was still a bit lame, probably because he had been injured during the fight earlier. Later, it was Victor who drove Zach home.
David was sitting in the driver's seat, Zach was in the passenger seat, and Victor and Sophia were in the back seat. The car was quiet, with no one speaking.
Victor was always quiet, and the others were afraid.
The car was driven by David, who was closest to Victor. He could clearly sense the tense atmosphere behind him, and he felt nervous inside. To alleviate the oppressive atmosphere in the car, he wiped the sweat off his forehead and played music.
"This is the feeling of freedom..." the song started playing.
Victor, who had been silent all along, lazily raised his head and asked, "What song are you playing?"
David, panicking, switched songs and explained with a red face, "I played the wrong one, let me change it."
Then, the people in the car heard, "Happy breakup, I wish you happiness, you can find someone better..."
David instantly felt like crying, quickly turned off the stereo, and the car became quiet. However, the atmosphere was awkward. Victor, perhaps angered by something, had a stern expression on his handsome face.
Finally, they arrived at Carter Villa's gate. Victor opened the car door and got out.
Zach said, "Uncle Victor, I can go upstairs on my own. It's late, so please go back first."
Victor ignored him, continued walking without stopping, creating a gust of wind as he passed by Zach with style.
The gatekeeper of Carter Villa respectfully bowed and said, "Mr. Hastings, hello."
"Is Mr. Stefan here?" Victor asked.
"He is. Mr. Hastings, please come in," the gatekeeper replied.
Zach, puzzled, looked at Victor's back and wondered, "'Wasn't Uncle Victor specifically here to take me home? Why is he going in to find my father?'
'Oh no!'
Zach quickly figured out what Victor wanted from his father and hurriedly caught up with him.
Sophia, sitting in the car, curiously asked David, "What is Mr. Hastings going in for?"
"Naturally, he has something to discuss," David shrugged helplessly and said, "Mr. Carter got into trouble this time, so Mr. Hastings must want to have a talk with his father."
"Will Zach be criticized? Can I go in and see?" After all, Zach got into the fight because of her, and she felt a little embarrassed.
David understood her thoughts and said, "You better not go in, it's the Carter family's business. Mr. Hastings will handle it. What are you going to do by going in?"
Got into a fight in front of so many people for a woman?
It would be so embarrassing if others found out!
Stefan also cared about his dignity, and if Sophia followed in at this time, it would be troublesome.
They waited in the car for almost half an hour before Victor came out of Carter Villa. David got out of the car and greeted him first, saying, "Mr. Hastings, are you going home or back to the office?"
"Company," Victor said, noticing out of the corner of his eye that Sophia was still in the car and feeling a bit annoyed, "Forget it, you can take a taxi back yourself, give me the car keys."
"Okay," David was very obedient, handed over the keys and hailed a taxi on the side of the road to leave.
Sophia, still sitting in the car, got out and looked at David's receding figure, asking, "Where is he going?"
Victor's gaze slowly fell on Sophia, getting closer to her. He held her chin with his fair and beautiful hand and warned in a low voice, "You better be honest with me, or I will make you suffer."
Sophia winced in pain and said, "I didn't do anything. Mr. Hastings, are you misunderstanding?"
Victor chuckled lightly and said, "Drive."
Although Sophia found it strange, she didn't dare to ask, fearing that Victor might suddenly attack her. She had the feeling that Victor was a ticking time bomb, and she was at risk of being affected by this big bomb called Victor.
However, what did this have to do with her after all?
Originally, Sophia could handle Paul on her own, but who knew that Zach would suddenly intervene? Even if she was at fault, he shouldn't vent all his anger on her, right?
Sophia felt that she was being used by Victor as an outlet for his frustration, and she was not happy about it.
She cursed Victor silently in her mind.
Victor raised an eyebrow, seeing her defiant expression, and sneered, saying, "Go to your home."
Sophia slammed the brakes and turned to him, thinking she misheard, and quickly asked, "Why are you going to my house?"
His eyes sharp and cold, he looked at her.
Sophia immediately closed her mouth, wanting to say many things but not daring to. He was the boss, she had to listen to him, and if he said to go somewhere, she had to go...
Feeling depressed, Sophia reluctantly changed direction and headed towards her own home.
"Do you know the man who was bothering you today?" Victor continued to ask.
Sophia shook her head and said, "I don't know him, but I heard his name is Paul."
Victor chuckled lightly, not believing her.
