At this point, Zach no longer had the mindset to think about Sophia and Paul's relationship. His mind was filled with the name "Liam." He remembered the child sitting next to Carolyn when he had lunch near the Aadelha Group.
When Zach went to find Sophia, he saw Liam, but he didn't pay much attention to him. Later, when they were having lunch at the restaurant, Liam was also sitting next to Carolyn. Although Liam appeared very friendly from beginning to end, he didn't interact much with Sophia and seemed unfamiliar with her.
However, Zach couldn't shake his concerns about the name "Liam." What if Liam really was Sophia's son...
Zach thought for a moment and realized that Carolyn was being incredibly nice to Liam today! She took care of him with utmost attention, clearly not showing any dislike towards him. What if Sophia was touched by Carolyn and turned to Victor...
The more Zach thought about it, the worse he felt. He abruptly stood up, "I have something to confirm, I'm leaving."
"What do you need to confirm?" Jessica curiously stood up.
"It's none of your business, and you better not pry," Zach warned.
Taking his car keys, Zach quickly left and drove to Hastings Villa. Sam recognized Zach and came running with a smile, "Hello, Mr. Carter, what brings you here?"
"Is Mrs. Hastings at home?" Zach asked.
"Yes, she is upstairs. Mr. Carter, do you have business with her?" Sam replied.
"I... I just came to take a look..." Zach didn't explain his intentions. After parking the car, he entered the house, but the first person he saw wasn't Carolyn, it was Liam playing in the living room on the first floor. Liam was holding a tablet, tapping and playing something on the screen.
When Zach approached, Liam immediately noticed him and quickly closed the computer page, looking up with a smile, "Hello, Uncle Zach."
Zach crouched down and carefully examined Liam's face. Zach closely observed Liam and actually noticed a resemblance to Sophia!
Zach's breath suddenly became rapid, and he asked in a low voice, "Your name is Liam, right?"
He said something that made Liam suspicious. Liam blinked his beautiful eyes and grinned, "Yes, what's up?"
"Sophia is your mommy?" Zach continued to ask.
Liam didn't expect him to ask so directly, and his nervous heart pounded. Although Liam was nervous, he concealed it well. He shook his head and asked with a perplexed and puzzled look, "Who is Sophia?"
"You don't know her?" Zach was surprised.
His name is indeed Liam, so how could he not know Sophia?
Liam pouted and said unhappily, "Uncle Zach, you're so strange. You suddenly come out and mention a random name. How could I possibly know her?"
"Sophia is the woman sitting across from you today," Zach said seriously, staring into Liam's eyes, trying to see if he was lying.
Eyes are the windows to the soul.
As long as Liam lied, Zach could immediately tell!
And Liam also realized that Zach suspected him. He was smart, so he turned to Sam and said, "Tell Uncle Zach what my mother's name is."
Sam nodded and smiled, "Mr. Carter, Liam's mother is Alice, not Sophia. Where did you hear that name? I think you must have mistaken someone."
"Alice?" Zach was puzzled. He thought for a long time, but he had no impression of that name. Later, he asked Liam for a photo of his mother. Liam didn't want to give it to him at first, but after Zach persuaded him for a long time, he reluctantly found a photo to show him.
The woman in the photo was indeed not Sophia. It seemed that he was thinking too much.
How could Sophia leave her child at Victor's house? Victor was not the kind of person who would willingly help. They had no relationship, and Victor couldn't possibly be raising her child for her.
Liam kept staring at Zach's face and noticed that he even smiled when he heard "Alice." Could it be that Zach didn't like him?
Liam remembered that Zach was Sophia's first boyfriend. During lunch, he also heard that Zach and Sophia used to have a good relationship. Although he didn't know where Zach had learned about his news, there was no doubt that he felt Zach seemed a bit disgusted with Sophia, or more precisely, with Sophia who had a child.
Liam's initial fondness for Zach suddenly disappeared. He still had a faint smile on his face as he said, "Uncle Zach, do you have any other questions?"
"No," Zach shook his head.
"Well, I need to go upstairs. Have fun by yourself," Liam casually handed some building blocks to Zach and turned to go upstairs.
Zach didn't ask any more questions and told Sam, "I'm leaving."
Sam warmly tried to persuade him, "Mr. Carter, don't you plan on going upstairs to greet Mrs. Hastings?"
"I already greeted her at noon," Zach turned around and slowly drove out of Hastings Villa. However, at the corner, he ran into Jessica, who was sitting in her car observing Hastings Villa.
"You dare to follow me!" Zach angrily exclaimed, not expecting her to be there.
Jessica didn't deny being caught and asked, "I told you about Liam, so why did you come to Hastings Villa? Is Liam living there?"
"You should use your brain and think, is that even possible?" Zach sarcastically retorted.
Jessica nodded, "I also think it's unlikely, so I came here specifically to check it out. Oh, and by the way, Victor wants to take Sophia to attend the charity event hosted by the Morison family, and Sophia will be attending as Victor's companion."
"Isn't she Victor's assistant?" Zach frowned upon hearing the term "companion."
Jessica said, "Who knows what kind of tactics Sophia used to make Victor care about her like this. I suggest you go to the charity event and see what might happen..." she stopped her suggestion there.
Sophia had a bad feeling throughout the journey, feeling as if someone was cursing at her.
After slowing down the car, she rubbed her throat and sneakily glanced at Victor through the rearview mirror. He had been reading documents since he got in the car, appearing very busy. Sophia said, "Mr. Hastings, I pushed your fiancée down, aren't you angry?"
Victor remained motionless, not even saying a word.
Sophia continued, "Actually, I did it on purpose. I just hate her, so I intentionally pushed her. If you hadn't arrived in time, I would have slapped her a couple of times."
Victor leisurely raised his head and looked at her.
Sophia straightened her waist, waiting for Victor to scold her. However, he only gave her a glance before lowering his head to continue reading the documents, incredibly calm!
Sophia felt that Victor's reaction was abnormal. Normally, he should be very angry, but his face showed no signs of anger...
"Mr. Hastings, aren't you angry?" she couldn't help but ask.
Victor replied, "I'm not angry."
"I think you should fire me, I'm not a good person," Sophia reminded him.
Victor rolled down the car window and glanced at the nearby mall, saying, "Find a parking spot up ahead."
"Mr. Hastings, are you going shopping?" Sophia asked curiously.
Victor revealed a sinister smile, "I just suddenly thought of how to punish you."
