Chapter 50 Mommy’s First Love

In the private room, the waiter served the dishes while Carolyn kept speaking good of Zach. Liam sat between Victor and Carolyn, listening to Carolyn's various praises. Unable to help himself, he rested his chin on his hands and carefully observed Zach.

In Liam's mind, he was thinking 'Although Mommy came to Woerek to look for that jerk of a dad, he hasn't shown up in all these years. If Mommy really likes this uncle, maybe he can tolerate and accept him for Mommy's sake.'

With this thought in mind, Liam couldn't help but ask Zach, "Do you really like her?"

Zach blushed, his eyes filled with deep affection, "Yes, I fell deeply in love with her six years ago."

"You've known each other for a long time?" Liam's eyes were filled with anticipation. Why hadn't Sophia mentioned him before?

Zach's cheeks turned slightly red, his gaze unbelievably sincere, "Yeah, we knew each other back when we were in school. She's the only person I've ever liked in my life."

"How romantic." Liam's eyes widened with emotion, thinking, 'Wow, so this is Mommy's first love! Does that mean there's no hope for his jerk dad?'

Victor frowned and gently tapped Liam's head, "Eat your food properly. Children shouldn't interrupt when adults are talking."

"Uncle Victor, you should learn from others on how to confess your feelings. You should learn more from him," Liam pouted, expressing his displeasure.

Victor's handsome face suddenly grew cold. "You don't understand anything, don't make wild guesses," he said.

"Victor, Liam is right. You should learn from Zach. He started pursuing girls six years ago, but what about you?" Carolyn thought more and more and felt uncomfortable. Sophia is so good-looking, young and beautiful with a good personality. She speaks sweetly and even works at Victor's company...

Victor and Carolyn had a miserable meal.

After lunch, Zach left and Victor's group returned to Aadelha Group.

Sophia was busy with work while Carolyn had nothing to do. After closing the office door, she shouted, "Look at those young, pretty girls outside. Aren't they good-looking? You have so many girls around you, but you don't know how to take advantage. Look at Zach, he's pursuing girls right under your nose, and you're not even worried."

"Why should I be worried?" Victor didn't care at all. He didn't care about a mediocre woman like Sophia.

It was just because Carolyn was here that Victor couldn't say anything too harsh. No man would want a woman like Sophia, she's too dirty!

Seeing Victor's indifferent attitude, Carolyn didn't know what else to say, so she left with Liam.

In the afternoon, Victor had two meetings to attend. David had to be busy receiving clients from other companies on Victor's behalf, so Victor could only take Sophia with him to the meeting.

The entire meeting room was silent, and everyone could feel the tense atmosphere emanating from Victor. Victor was in a bad mood!

Everyone at the meeting was extremely nervous, holding their breaths, thinking that if they remained silent enough, they wouldn't be implicated by Victor. However, they all received a harsh lesson from him.

They finally endured until the end of the meeting. After Victor left, others couldn't help but complain, "Mr. Hastings was fine this morning, why was he so angry in the afternoon? Ms. Johnson, did Mr. Hastings not rest well at noon?"

"He didn't rest," Sophia answered softly. Victor had been working since they returned from the restaurant.

Others said, "No wonder Mr. Hastings is so irritable. We have another meeting in half an hour, and we must be mentally prepared. If we can't answer Mr. Hastings' questions later, he will definitely get angry again."

People in the meeting room left one by one, and Sophia returned to her own position, holding the documents.

On her desk, Sophia still had the roses that Zach had brought when he came. Although they smelled good, she felt they were taking up space. Seeing an empty vase in the window across from her, Sophia unwrapped the bouquet and put the flowers in the vase.

Passing by, Victor saw this scene and walked over, asking, "Who bought these flowers?"

Sophia turned around in a panic and stuttered, "Za...Zach."

"Throw them away," Victor commanded.

Sophia was stunned and looked at the flowers in her hands, not understanding. These flowers were so beautiful, it would be a shame to throw them away. Hesitantly, she said, "Can I keep them?"

Victor's deep eyes looked at her without saying a word. Sophia suddenly took the roses out of the vase and quickly wrapped them up. "I'll throw them away right now!"

In front of Victor, she threw the flowers into the trash can.

Victor's cold and determined face finally softened a bit.

Sophia breathed a sigh of relief and carefully returned to her seat. Victor hadn't left yet, which made Sophia uneasy. She didn't know if she should sit down or not, so she could only stand by her desk, staring at him with bewildered eyes, not knowing what she had done wrong.

Victor had originally wanted to scold her, but seeing her confused eyes, he suddenly fell silent. "Go out with me after the meeting."

"Okay, Mr. Hastings," Sophia nodded and sorted out the files he needed.

In order not to keep Victor waiting, Sophia went to the garage to get the car ahead of time, unexpectedly running into Jessica.

Sophia ignored her, unlocked the car, and opened the door.

Jessica hurriedly walked up, grabbing Sophia's hand and demanding, "Why do you have Victor's car keys? Where is he?"

"Aren't you capable of finding him on your own?" Sophia replied irritably.

Jessica angrily said, "You're just a secretary, how dare you speak to me like that! Aren't you afraid I'll teach you a lesson after I marry Victor?"

"Then you can wait until you marry him," Sophia really had no interest in arguing with someone like her. Even saying one more word felt exhausting.

Without leaving a trace, Sophia flicked Jessica's hand away. While she didn't exert much force, Jessica ended up falling to the ground. Sophia was quite puzzled and was about to ask Jessica why she was sitting on the ground, when she caught a glimpse of Victor coming out of the elevator.

Before Sophia could explain, Jessica cried, "Why did you push me?"

Sophia was very confused.

Victor had already walked over by this time and asked, "What happened?"

Jessica had red eyes and pitifully wiped away her tears. "Victor, I was just asking your assistant about you, and she got angry and pushed me down. Look, my hand is injured."

Victor appeared gloomy, and even when he wasn't angry, he still seemed dignified.

Sophia didn't expect Jessica to be so shameless and explained, "I didn't push her."

"Did she throw herself on the ground?" Victor asked. Obviously, he didn't believe Sophia's words.

Sophia said, "I have no reason to push her."

"So she's accusing you unfairly?" Victor countered.

Jessica, on the verge of tears, said, "I have no feud with Ms. Johnson, how could I accuse her unfairly? It's clear that she didn't like me asking about you, so she took the opportunity in the empty underground parking lot to deliberately push me down." She wiped away her tears, choked up, and said, "Victor, your assistant is really wicked, why do you still keep her by your side? Can you fire her?"
