On her first day as Victor's assistant, Sophia successfully became the center of attention. She felt embarrassed and ashamed, but in order to avoid the harassment of the demon Victor, she endured it!
Perhaps her colleagues in the same department couldn't bear it anymore, and they whispered, "The weather isn't that cold, right? Has she never worked in the office before?"
Another person said, "I don't know. I think she probably hasn't. Otherwise, she wouldn't dress so old-fashioned."
"I didn't expect Mr. Hastings to like this. It just proves that she must be really capable. Otherwise, Mr. Hastings wouldn't have let her be his assistant, but her attire is indeed a bit... "
Megan also felt that Sophia's attire was affecting the department's image. She walked up to Sophia and said, "During lunch break, go to the finance department and get two sets of uniforms. From now on, you will wear the company-provided clothes to work."
"Okay," Sophia obediently nodded.
Megan handed her a stack of documents. "Organize these. Deliver them to Mr. Hastings' office after his meeting."
"Okay," Sophia responded with a good attitude. When she saw Victor and David coming out of the meeting room, she quickly tidied up the documents and took the opportunity while David was there to deliver them.
Victor was immediately drawn to Sophia's attire. He rested his chin on his hands, curiously observing Sophia, and said to David, "You can leave first and close the door on your way out."
Sophia had a bad feeling. She put down the files, said nothing, and tried her best to make herself less noticeable. And when David was about to leave, she quietly followed behind him.
"Stop right there," Victor said coldly.
Sophia pretended not to hear and walked quickly. It was David in front of her who turned back and reminded her, "Mr. Hastings wants you to stop." Then, David swiftly closed the door to the president's office!
"Come here," Victor commanded.
Sophia froze in place, feeling lost. His sharp gaze made her uncomfortable. She could only gather up her courage and walk over. "Mr. Hastings, do you have any further instructions?"
Victor said nothing, but he observed Sophia's attire with a smile that was not really a smile. "Your taste in clothing is good."
"Mr. Hastings, thank you for your compliments," Sophia replied, not humbly but confidently. She appeared proud and defiant. She wasn't foolish; she understood that Victor was mocking her.
In a devilish manner, he leaned back in his chair, curious about how he hadn't noticed her being so interesting before. His fair hands patted the vacant seat next to him, signaling for Sophia to come over.
Sophia stood still, hesitant to move.
A displeased expression appeared on the handsome Victor's face, and the atmosphere instantly became tense.
Sophia held her breath in fear. Victor was truly terrifying! She clenched her rosy lips and reluctantly took two steps forward. Her voice trembled, "Mr. Hastings, this is the office. Please behave!"
He didn't comply with her request, and instead playfully teased her by tugging on her sleeve. This startled Sophia, and she instinctively wanted to retreat. Her nervousness was so intense that it felt as though her heart had jumped into her throat.
"With such an ugly outfit, where did you find it?" he sneered.
Sophia's cheeks turned as red as a tomato. Victor laughed, saying, "You could be considered the first person in our company to look so ugly."
Unnoticeably, he pulled his hand away from Sophia's coat and commanded, "Change your clothes."
"Change?" Sophia looked at him bewilderedly.
Victor asked, "What? Are you waiting for me to personally help you change? Hasn't the company given you a uniform? Did you come to work in such an ugly outfit to blind someone's eyes? Even the janitor's clothes are more fashionable than yours in the entire company."
Sophia remained speechless.
Her cheeks grew even redder than before. The outfit she wore today was indeed a bit ugly. When she entered the company earlier, everyone had laughed at her. However, given the circumstances, it was understandable for her to dress like this!
Afraid of making Victor angrier, she quickly changed out of the hideous coat. Victor coldly watched her, clearly dissatisfied. Sophia changed into another outfit, which was still unattractive. Victor remained unsatisfied. In the end, she was left with only a white, tight-fitting base layer.
She noticed that his gaze had changed, so she quickly picked up a folder and held it in her arms.
Victor was momentarily stunned by this scene. After a few seconds, he finally reacted. He placed his pen down and asked her with interest, "Are you playing hard to get?"
"I'm not," Sophia shook her head.
Victor coldly said, "If I wanted to, no matter how much you wear, it would be useless."
Sophia silently cursed him in her heart.
Suddenly, Victor pinched her face. "Are you cursing me?"
"No, absolutely not!" Sophia quickly shook her head, thinking, 'Is he even human? How can he tell?'
"Go out and work properly. During work hours, without my permission, you are not allowed to leave the company for even a step," Victor reminded her.
Sophia nodded continuously. She felt a sense of rejuvenation after coming out of the CEO's office. She looked for Megan and completed the handover work.
Near lunchtime, Zach sent her a message, but Sophia didn't reply. When it was time to leave work, Zach went directly to the warehouse of Aadelha Group to wait for her. That's when he found out that Sophia had been transferred to another department. Emily didn't know which department she specifically went to. Zach went to David to inquire.
David didn't dare to tell the truth. He simply said he didn't know.
Zach didn't believe it. "If you don't tell me, I'll go find Uncle Victor. I'll report you to him."
David helplessly smiled, "It won't help if you go find Mr. Hastings. Mr. Carter, if you have time, you should go home and take care of your father's properties."
Zach, who never gave up until he achieved his goal, refused to leave like this. He almost searched half of Aadelha Group but couldn't find Sophia. He panicked. He was afraid that Sophia would leave him without a word like six years ago. He was so scared that he went directly to the 77th floor and unexpectedly found Sophia here!
When Sophia saw Zach, she was shocked. She stood up from her seat.
Zach furrowed his brow, but he didn't ask anything. He walked straight to Victor's office and closed the door.
"Uncle Victor!" he called out.
Victor, who was working in the office, looked up. "What's the matter?"
Zach looked outside with a complex expression. From this position, he could clearly see Sophia's desk. He didn't understand why David had lied to him, but his intuition told him that Victor might know something.
If Victor knew about Sophia's past, he would definitely not allow Zach to be with her!
"Uncle Victor, I want one of your employees." Zach suddenly changed his mind, which had initially been to find Sophia.
Victor looked slightly displeased and put down the documents in his hand. "Whom do you want?"
Zach gathered his courage and said, "One of your secretaries."
"I'll give you David. Is that enough?" Victor asked.
David, who was standing nearby handing out documents, trembled slightly.
Zach shook his head and pointed to Sophia outside the door. "I want her."
His words made the already quiet office even quieter. Victor put down his work on the desk. Lazily, he looked in the direction Zach was pointing, his tone meaningful as he said, "Choose someone else."
"Uncle Victor, I want her." Zach was very determined.
Victor tapped his desk intermittently, and with a sinister tone, he said, "No."
"Why? Uncle Victor, there are so many people here. Why won't you give me a secretary? What is she capable of? Uncle Victor, why keep her?" Zach questioned.
