Luckily, Victor didn't make any more excessive moves. After he tidied up his somewhat messy clothes as if nothing had happened, he left.
Sophia remained in the same spot struggling to catch her breath for a long time. She quickly packed up her things and hurriedly left, worried that Victor might come back to find her.
Upon returning home, Sophia found that the residential staff were guarding her doorstep, which made her realize that Zach had come to look for her. So, after sending him a message to assure him she was safe, Sophia lay on the sofa with Victor's figure filling her mind. She felt restless and messed up her hair absentmindedly. Holding a pillow, she lay down on the sofa to sleep.
In a daze, she heard someone knocking on the door, so she got up and opened it.
"Sophia, where did you go?" Zach rushed in and grabbed Sophia's shoulders.
Rubbing her eyes in confusion, she said, "Didn't I tell you I'm fine? Why did you come?"
"I couldn't be at ease without seeing you in person. Tell me, where were you just now? I've been looking for you for a long time. Are you hurt?" Zach anxiously examined her up and down.
Uncomfortably, Sophia pushed him away and said, "I'm fine, you can go back."
"I clearly heard you moan in your phone. How can you be fine?" Zach felt she must be hiding something from him, so he asked Sophia to look into his eyes and repeat herself.
She turned her face away and pushed him away forcefully. "I was working overtime at the company earlier, and I was not happy with a lot of things, so I called you to vent. However, after I called you, I felt embarrassed and hung up. I'm really fine."
"Didn't you finish work? Why did you go back to the company?" Zach had never heard of going back to the warehouse to work overtime after finishing work.
Sophia, who was about to run out of excuses, was afraid that saying too much would reveal her secret. She didn't want anyone to know that she had been sexually harassed, especially not her ex-boyfriend! Sophia felt extremely embarrassed!
She pretended to be calm. "I was working overtime, isn't that normal? Hurry up and leave, I need to sleep, I have to work tomorrow."
Sophia didn't care whether Zach wanted to or not, she just pushed him out.
He left after knocking on the door for a few minutes. Sophia let out a sigh of relief and picked up her phone to video call Liam, but she received a text message instead.
XX: [If I see you with him again, you're dead.]
The sender was an unknown phone number. Although there was no name, Sophia had a vague idea of who sent it!
She nervously bit her lip and cautiously replied with a text message.
Sophia: [Who are you?]
XX: [Someone who has touched you.]
The unknown number replied a few minutes later.
Sophia screamed in anger and frustration. "How can there be someone like this?"
"Sophia, who is it?" Zach's voice came from outside the door.
She froze!
Sophia angrily said, "Why haven't you left yet?"
"I..." he hesitated.
Sophia walked quickly to the living room door and locked it. "Don't bother me again!"
There was no more sound outside the door. Sophia angrily threw her phone onto the bed and went into the bathroom to take a shower with her clothes on! She didn't want to see that asshole Victor again. She was so angry!
Resign!
She must resign.
Sophia took a shower from head to toe with hot water, finally calming down a bit. After changing her clothes, she prepared to call Victor to talk about resigning, but she saw three unread text messages.
The first one.
XX: [Leave your current boyfriend, refuse, or die.]
The second one.
XX: [Delusions of resigning, die.]
The third one.
XX: [Wear less tomorrow when you go to work.]
Sophia stared blankly at the phone screen, thinking she was hallucinating for a moment. She slapped her cheeks hard, looked at the phone again for a few seconds, and then felt like crying!
Sophia never expected that the president of the mighty Aadelha Group, the eldest son of the Hastings family, who had such wealth and power in Woerek, would stoop so low as to bully a small employee like her!
She lay on the bed, tightly hugging a pillow, wanting to cry for a while!
Sophia did not sleep all night. As it was getting close to work time, she found her thickest pair of jeans. Sophia did not want to follow Victor's arrangements. She didn't know what that bad man wanted by asking her to dress less!
Sophia wrapped herself tightly and put on the ugliest pair of glasses to go to Aadelha Group.
David was waiting at the warehouse door early, seemingly knowing that Sophia wouldn't surrender easily. He smiled and said, "Ms. Johnson, Mr. Hastings asked me to show you the way."
"Can I continue working in the warehouse? I enjoy working here," Sophia asked cautiously.
"No, you cannot," David replied with a smile.
She nodded disappointedly and followed him upstairs.
Along the way, many people looked over and discussed something. When they reached the secretary department, David said, "Put down your work for now, I will introduce you all. This is Sophia Johnson, Mr. Hastings' newly promoted assistant. All documents that need to be sent to Mr. Hastings should be handed over to her from now on."
When they heard that she was Victor's assistant, the entire secretary department became lively, with everyone looking towards Sophia.
Although there were many assistants for Victor, they were all male. Suddenly, there was a female assistant, and everyone was shocked, thinking she must be someone impressive and beautiful. However, when they looked up, everyone was disappointed.
Was this tacky person, wearing thick jeans and two thick coats in the middle of summer, really Victor's new assistant?
Megan Smith, the Secretary-General, couldn't help but frown, "Mr. Young, is this... serious?"
Her expression clearly showed disbelief.
Not only Megan, but everyone's expressions were the same.
This new assistant was too tacky, right? Who wears thick jeans and layers of coats in the middle of summer? She didn't look like she was here for work at all, but more like she was here to rob the place. Did Mr. Hastings lose his mind? How could he choose someone like this?
David also couldn't quite understand Sophia's outfit for today. In his impression, her fashion sense seemed pretty good. Just a few days ago, David saw her dressed normally. Why was she like this today...
David cleared his throat to disguise his embarrassment and said, "Alright, I have finished introducing. You can go back to your work now." Then, he led Sophia to the desk closest to Victor's office and said, "From today, this is your office. Someone will come to hand over your tasks later. Mr. Hastings has a meeting and I need to prepare some materials for him. You can familiarize yourself with the environment for now."
Then, David left.
Sophia, who was left alone, felt countless hot gazes directed at her. It was only then that she realized that everyone here was dressed very minimally! Women were wearing professional skirts with no stockings and short-sleeved tops. Men were also dressed thinly!
And Sophia, among the many elites dressed in professional attire, stood out as someone different, and it was particularly obvious! She suddenly realized the true meaning of Victor's comment last night about "wearing less"!
