Sophia, who was about to leave, was forcibly dragged by Taylor. When Sophia broke free, Taylor became even more furious and picked up a wine glass on the table to throw, not realizing that she missed!
With a bang, the wine glass hit a passing little girl. Even though Sophia reacted quickly and rushed over to block, she couldn't stop the wine glass. Sophia was soaked all over. The little girl's forehead swelled up with a big bump, and she cried in pain.
People around looked over. A noble lady ran over upon hearing the crying. She held the girl and asked worriedly, "Baby, who hurt you like this?"
Taylor recognized this lady at a glance. She was the wife of a jeweler named Woerek! Taylor was afraid of offending this lady, so she immediately pointed at Sophia and said, "How could you hurt a little girl like this?"
When the lady heard that Sophia hurt her precious daughter, she angrily pushed Sophia away and said, "Get away from my daughter."
Sophia sat down on the ground, biting her pale lips. And Taylor, the instigator of all this, stood beside and watched. The people around also started to blame Sophia.
Sophia's pale face slowly returned to normal. She looked coldly at Taylor and said, "You're the one who threw that glass at the girl."
Taylor was very flustered and guilty. She quickly explained, "Stop talking nonsense. I love children the most. How could I possibly harm her?" Pausing for a moment, Taylor said to the woman, "It was her who injured your daughter, but she still tries to make excuses. I have never seen such a shameless woman before!"
The woman was angered by Taylor's words. She loved her daughter dearly, so without hesitation, she slapped Sophia and sternly said, "Apologize!"
Inside the restaurant, others were shocked and exclaimed.
Taylor raised an eyebrow. She didn't expect the woman to have such a violent temper. With a cold laugh, she retreated into the crowd and took advantage of the chaos to leave.
Sophia tried to stop Taylor but was blocked by the woman. Furious, the woman said, "Where do you think you're going? You hit someone and now you want to run away. I'm going to call the police and have you arrested!"
Victor heard the intermittent arguments. When he looked over, several waiters had already blocked the little girl, but he could vaguely hear the woman accusing Sophia. Victor's face showed a barely visible disdainful smile. He arrogantly withdrew his gaze, which had been as aloof as a king, and walked towards the private room.
David followed him and couldn't help but say, "Mr. Hastings, should I go over and help? It seems like Sophia is in trouble."
"She's a cunning woman. There's no need to help her," Victor said ruthlessly.
David remembered how Sophia had teamed up with Paul to plot against Victor, so he believed she must not be a good person. He thought the chaos over there must have been caused by her.
"Mr. Hastings, you're right. But I think I just saw Ms. Johnson's mother."
Victor raised an elegant eyebrow. "Jessica?"
David couldn't help but turn his head and his view was blocked by other people. He felt a bit puzzled. "It seemed like she was talking to Sophia..."
Victor suddenly stopped walking.
"Mr. Hastings, what's wrong?" David raised his head, confused. When he saw the handsome Victor looking somewhat gloomy, David realized he had said the wrong thing and quickly explained, "I must have been mistaken. Taylor couldn't possibly know Sophia. I must have been mistaken."
Although David's words were unintentional, they caught Victor's attention. After entering the private room, Victor casually ordered a cup of coffee. However, Sophia's snow-white face and the low hum she made that night at the hotel kept flashing through his mind. It was so wonderful!
She looked just like the girl from six years ago!
"Don't mention her in front of me again," Victor said in an irritated mood.
David was puzzled. "You mean Taylor?"
"Sophia!" Victor said sharply. His handsome face turned chillingly terrifying!
David nodded repeatedly, too scared to speak. At the same time, he felt very strange. Victor had hired Sophia at the company, but he didn't let David mention her. David couldn't understand what he was trying to do.
He wondered if Victor had developed feelings for Sophia.
David was a little hesitant. "Should I still treat Sophia differently?"
Victor raised his gaze. His sharp eyes could frighten anyone. In an instant, David dared not speak.
Perhaps Victor didn't like seeing Sophia's face, as he was feeling somewhat annoyed. On top of that, the client he had scheduled to meet was late. Victor had completely lost his patience. He didn't even take a sip of the coffee that had just been delivered. He impatiently got up and left. As he passed through the lobby of the restaurant, he coldly glanced at Sophia's previous seat. It was now empty.
"Mr. Hastings, I asked around. Sophia's boyfriend came, paid the money, and took her away," David caught a waiter and inquired, then ran up to report.
Victor's icy stare once again terrified David. He quickly retreated several feet.
"You really like to meddle in other people's business," Victor mercilessly scolded.
David nodded repeatedly. "I know I was wrong."
Victor snorted, "Let her handle the warehouse tasks this afternoon herself."
"Alright!" David thought, 'Why do I have a feeling that Mr. Hastings is jealous? No, he definitely wouldn't be. How could he be jealous because of that bad woman?'
Zach emerged from the restaurant, tightly holding Sophia's hand. His face was pale, and his angry appearance drew the attention of many passersby.
Sophia felt very uneasy and struggled to say, "Zach Carter, let go."
Upon hearing her call him by his full name, Zach felt a bit embarrassed. "You didn't used to call me that."
"That was before. Do you have something to talk to me about?" Sophia took a step back, discreetly creating distance between them.
Zach looked disappointed and forced a bitter smile. "Is that how you want to get rid of me?"
Sophia bit her lip, avoiding his intense gaze.
"Forget it. I won't push you," Zach took a step closer. His warm palm gently caressed her cheek. "You must be in pain, right? Let me take you to the hospital."
"No need, I still have to go back to work at the company. Thanks for what happened just now. I'm leaving now," Sophia rejected Zach's kindness. When she made the decision to give birth to Liam, she already knew that she and Zach could never be together again.
She thought, 'Since it's impossible, why do we still have to entangle ourselves with each other? Continuing like this will only hurt us both.'
Sophia walked quickly. She couldn't bear to see Zach's pained expression, so she almost seemed a little crazy as she ran away.
She ran all the way to the Aadelha Group. Sophia rushed into the elevator without even seeing the person in front of her, but a strong and powerful hand grabbed her wrist. The atmosphere in the elevator instantly became tense!
Sophia felt sharp eyes on top of her head. As she said, "I'm sorry" and lifted her head, she suddenly became flustered when she met Victor's deep eyes. The overwhelming pressure made Sophia a little scared. She felt like she had seen Victor somewhere before. Scared, she wanted to step back, but he firmly held her wrist.
"You..."
Sophia's heart raced nervously, but her chin was held by Victor. He arrogantly lifted her face. He exhaled his warm and dominant breath onto her slightly flushed cheeks.
He was so charming!
