Chapter 29 Let Me Go
Shaun stepped forward, but Ethan blocked him, preventing him from coming close to Moriah.
Afraid that they will fight in the hospital Moriah cried, "Ethan, Shaun, will you please stop acting like children fighting over a toy."
Hearing the anguish in her tone, Ethan came near her and protectively held her in his arms.
"Moriah, I regret leaving you that day. Come with me," Shaun held Moriah's hand.
Moriah looked at him and smiled bitterly, "Shaun, are you still willing to have me back. I'm no longer a virgin," she pulled her hand back.
"Yes, I'm more than willing, no matter how many times this jerk has touched you. I'm willing to accept you because I love you," Shaun spoke with determination.
Ethan clenched his jaw while he looked coldly at Shaun. The chilly aura he was exuding was enough for the whole room to freeze.
"I'll wait for you Moriah," Shaun refused to be intimidated by Ethan. "You know where to find me when you have decided to give us a second chance."
Shaun left the room not giving Moriah a chance to speak.
"I'm tired Ethan, let me go," Moriah said after a few moments of silence.
"I told you, not to mention divorce," Ethan didn't let her go, rather he tightened his embrace, but not too tight so she could still breathe properly.
Moriah chuckled. "What I'm telling you is, I want to lay down, so release me from your hold."
Her laughter mitigated the heaviness in Ethan's heart. He kissed the top of her head and then he released her from his embrace.
Right after Ethan helped her to lay on the bed, he bent forward to kiss her. Moriah's eyes widened, her mind gone shambolic.
His lips were soft but insistent against hers; they opened her mouth with the skill that she wasn't able to resist, and his tongue flowed in, skilfully subduing any protest she may have made. Not showing any form of protest to his kiss, Ethan held her head and deepened the kiss.
Forgetting that they were in the hospital, Moriah slowly wrapped her arms around his neck and responded to his kiss. They kissed in a sweet and gentle manner as if they were kissing under the moonlight.
Little did they know that two pairs of eyes witnessed their romantic moment. A whistle combined with laughter interrupted their intimate moment.
Moriah abruptly pulled her arms away, her face went from pale to red as a tomato.
"Sorry man for the bad timing," Zachary said as he walked towards them, Ethan looked daggers at Zachary who was smiling at him mischievously.
"How long have you been here?" Moriah looked guiltily at Cindy like a child caught with her hand in the cookie jar.
"Long enough to see the whole thing," Cindy said in a teasing tone.
Cindy's answer was enough to make Moriah's face and neck bright red. She covered her head with the sheet.
Ethan's lips twitched at his wife's reaction. He truly enjoyed it whenever he discovered something about his wife.
"Hey, it's normal for a husband and wife to kiss," Cindy pulled down the sheet, but Moriah pulled it back, covering her face.
"Don't talk to me, Cindy," Moriah said while she's under the sheet.
"Alright" Cindy pulled the sheet down as she continued, "I came here because there was a letter from China requesting you to teach in one of the medical schools in Shanghai," Cindy handed the letter to her. "Dr Houston, told me to hand this to you."
Moriah took the letter and read it.
"Are you going?" Moriah once told Cindy that she would like to go to China.
She was torn between leaving and staying, "I love to go, however, my dad doesn't want me to go back to China."
"Even if it's just for a few months?" Cindy asked.
"I don't know, I will be away from December until March. I will be spending Christmas alone in China," she folded the letter and gingerly put it back in the envelope.
"But you have a family there...." An idea popped up in her mind, "Or I can visit you and spend Christmas with you," Cindy said gleefully.
Moriah looked up at Ethan, "Will you let me go to China?" Her eyes glistened, Ethan eyes flickered, she saw the eyes of the girl who bumped into him 15 years ago.
His hand moved to caress her face, his gaze so intense, "If you promise me to come back, I will let you go to China." "Dad, wouldn't let me live in China. I'll come back after teaching." She turned towards Zachary as she couldn't stand Ethan's fiery gaze as if he was setting her on fire.
"By the way, Zachary, what are you doing here?" Moriah asked, her tone was rather playful and her eyes went from Zachary to Cindy.
"He's here for a check up, his gastritis is acting up again," Cindy answered.
"Are you Zachary? I'm asking Zachary," Moriah chuckled as she found a way to tease her friend.
She could see that Zachary is interested in Cindy but the latter had no idea about it.
"I know what you are trying to do," Cindy whispered, Moriah laughed as her hands were in her stomach.
Ethan felt refreshed to hear his wife's laughter; he had never heard her laugh. Her laughter was like music in his ears.
He wondered if she would laugh like that whenever she was with Shaun. She most likely did. She's lively and happy when she's with the people close to her heart. Just like when they visited her parents in Manchester.
The emotions she showed him were anger, sadness, rejection, disgust, and misery. He never saw her happy to be with him. She never laughed with him.
"He's not my type," Cindy whispered again when she stopped laughing.
"Oh?!" Moriah giggled while she hugged Cindy, "Is that true?" She teasingly asked.
Zachary was amused to see Cindy and Moriah acting like teenagers. It's quite new to him as he had been surrounded by sultry women.
He likes Cindy's feistiness and forwardness, never trying to say what he wanted to hear. She didn't even try to seduce him.
"Anyway, I have to go now," Cindy said and pinched her cheeks. "Promise me, you will spend more time with me before going to China," she said, giggling as she couldn't hold back her glee.
"Sure," she hugged Cindy and let her go.
"You are inseparable," Ethan said when Moriah never removed her eyes from Cindy's departing back.
She looked at him and smiled. "That's true, we are like sisters."
"Why didn't you have siblings?"
"Mom, almost died giving birth to me. So dad decided not to have another baby after me." Her eyes twinkle, thinking about the love her parents have for each other, "Dad loves my mom so much and he can't live without my mom. I understood that at a very young age so I never demanded for a sibling."
She sighed, compared to her parents' marriage, her marriage is just a one sided love.
"Why did you sigh?" Ethan hugged her from behind.
"Nothing," she removed his arms that surrounded her and turned to look at him.
"Can we go home now?" She didn't like to stay in the hospital as a patient. "My fever is gone."
"We will wait for the test result and if you don't have any infection, we will go home and -" Ethan was interrupted by a phone call.
He took out his phone, and Moriah saw the display screen "Hazel calling". Ethan rejected the call.
"Why didn't you answer your phone?" She asked as if she didn't see who was calling him.
His phone rang again, "Answer it, that must be an important call," she convinced him to answer the call just to test him.
She moved away from him, however, Ethan held her fast and pressed her head on his chest. She hugged his waist.
Ethan sighed and answered the call, "Speak!" He said flatly.
"Ethan, where are you? Aren't you going to come to the company?" Moriah was surprised to hear Hazel's voice. She didn't expect for Ethan to switch on the phone speaker.
"I own the company, and I have no obligation to report to you. You're just my secretary," Ethan ended the call giving her no room to answer.
